Now, I'm not sure this is the right place to ask... In any case:

I recently started more actively running Secret of Mana, where I have to handle 2 controllers at once through various stages of the game. So - Handcam came to my mind. I do own a functional webcam already, however I now have no idea how I could possibly set this up. I'm not crafty by an stretch of the imagination, and that's why I'm asking here

Are there any practical setups for handcams? In particular I'm looking for something stationary where I don't move around the camera much

Thanks

I'm also wondering about this.  I have no idea how to get any reasonable shot of the controller considering how I hold the controller.  I'm interested to hear how others have rigged theirs up.
I've started doing this recently, and this is what I've come up with so far.

I happen to have a tripod on hand, so I basically put my webcam on the tripod and place this setup in front of where I sit. I face the webcam to my controller, and then invert the image on Xsplit so that it looks right-side up. If you don't have a tripod, maybe putting the webcam on a chair or something close enough to the height of where your controller is when you're playing.
You can accomplish this easily as long as you have some sort of heavy base desk lamp, or you can just attach weights to the base lamp. Anyways, if you have a webcam that has a flap for gripping or any sort of gripping style end to it you can attach it to the support for the lamp. Myself, I have used a basket with weights in it that sits on top of my computer (it's a monster), and inside the basket is some kind of tubing that was flexible enough and thin enough that I could attach my webcam to it.

Another setup idea is to use a bunch of copper clothes hangers straightened out to support an empty toilet roll with a stab in it to set your webcam's grip into.

You will probably have to invert your webcam, too. You can also capture from the side or at an angle, but the most input can get captured from a vertical angle.
I love hancam and I use it. I play in front of a table, and I use my Nintendo DS to keep my web cam horizontally above my hands. I put a funny towel between my knees and my hands to have good picture. The last step is to rotate the picture by 180 degrees. I can do it with x split or OBS.
If you use a card to capture your game, you may have a lag problem. Some card has a processing time and your handcam won't be synchronized with the game. In this case I use VLC (media, open capture device). Check "show more options" and I can add a delay to my webcam. I can also rotate it and I just need to do a screen region of it.
hope it will help.
HELLO!
I got a Logitech  webcam on sale, stuck it on my monitor that sits behind me and to the site where I play and stream, and aimed it at the vicinity of my hands, then blew it up as much as I could in Camtwist. It's not great but people can see.

In fact I did get a comment on what grip I was using in Faxanadu so there's something.
