Sorry, but... what the hell does that have to do with anything?

I dont think it changes the fact that I will enjoy it when it will be released.

Probably not, so stop being negative.

we didnt pay him to do it

An excellent point. Spider did this with his own free time, just like every other speedrunner and their run, and did it for our personal entertainment. I don't give a shit how long this run takes because of that fact.

As for HL2DQ, I don't know too much about it, but I do know that a bunch of the runners ran the same levels to get the best time, and if the runners felt it couldn't go lower or if that was good enough, they would move on. I peeked at the forum every now and then, and that's what I saw. I know there was dibs on a couple of levels. One of the reasons was whatever runner knew exactly how to go about something, so he wanted to run it, but other times, a runner just kinda wanted that level, although I only saw that once. I saw Max post about how he wanted a certain level near the end of the project, for credit purposes. That's about it, really ;'o

As for Loose Change, the first time I watched it, I thought it was compelling. It had me interested, and I thought it was decent when I got to the end. There was something about it though that didn't seem right, so I watched it again, and I then realized I didn't like it. I looked about for information, and Loose Change then became completely ridiculous in my eyes.

Does anyone know what audio bit rate radix wants for MQ, I was thinking 96 might be a nice touch.

From the KB: For medium quality the setting is usually 64 Kbps (for stereo) or 32 Kbps (for mono).
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
spider is the little quote below your avatar from the pearl jam song where he says "i don't wanna think, i wanna feeeeeel"?
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Medium quality audio bitrate should be 64 kbps.  This is straight from Radix.

...or is it from the Bruce Lee movie "Enter the dragon"? In which Bruce tells his student:
Quote:
Don't think. FEEL. It is like a finger pointing away to the moon. Do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory.

...one could think that's where he got it Wink

Bruce Lee and Spider-Waffle share the same quality - they're both lightning fast!

You got it DaleLewill.  In the dubed version the feel is drawn way out.

I followed the hl2dq progress, they first did runs from scratch on every map to find the fastest general route, then at 'phase 2' they all ran the first map, the best time stuck and the corresponding savegames were made public, then everyone ran the next map with those saves as a base, etc.

What if one person got the best time for a map, but in order to do so he had to sacrifice a ridiculous amount of health/armor/ammo, and as a result the run as a whole would be slowed down because future segments would have to compensate for this?

Did they say "Finish this segment as fast as you can, but you have to end up with at least X amount of health, Y amount of armor, Z amount of ammo?"
XXY
I saw them do that at times. Sometimes they laid down a certain amount of health they wanted, and if a runner came under that, it wasn't a huge problem, and they moved on. The beautiful thing about route planning is that losing health in some areas doesn't matter, because it's on the way later on. Besides, they finished the run, didn't they? Discussion over = P

I'm member of HL2DQ, even though I might not have been a highly active runner (I'm in the movie though  :P).
We didn't have a lot of problems with runners loosing insane amount of health - the one place I do remember is map "d2_coast_03" where bandit5k falls down and looses  quite a lot of health (instead of landing on a slope and not loosing any). But everybody were okay with his demo so we continued. But of course nobody would accept a demo where the runner would have 1HealthPoint if the next map was heavy on gunfire for instance.
I don't recall us having such guidelines as "don't have less that X in health" on any map, we were dynamic in that sense.

As you've already seen I posted a screenshot of the fish on the apache. I added your name as an author of the screenshot since you discovered how to ride the fish. I think you deserve proper credit Smiley
