I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Good, we needed some advertising Tongue
woot
With the few new glitches and open landscape it's already looking SO much more promising than Episode One.
unemployed Dragon

I'm also waiting for a HL2 EP2 run

I hope the demorecord feature isnt fucked up - like always (remember HL2EL1 run)

Yeah, the demo recording works perfectly. Im happy Valve fixed it at least for this game, because they didnt at all for Portal. Anyway, i updated the first post with my current route runs.

If it aint broke don't fix it.
In part 4, i mean woooooooooot, what kind of boost are you using? The Hammer-Boost?  Grin

No i'm serious.... whats that?

And whats that thing with the blackscreens here and than?

And of course for me as a nonrunner it was (like always) amazing to watch.... RUN ON!!!

The use of the pickaxe, if you saw Ch3, when im holding it on the elevator, i Super Physics Deform (SPD) the pickaxe. This basically binds all the physics force in the game to the head of the pickaxe. If you touch it, itll push all the force back at you. Also, the black screens are the loading between the next demo in a sequence of demos. You can set it to play all the demos in a row by using the 'startdemos' command. It works out well when you want to fraps demos.

Impressiv !!

Never heard of SPD befor. I wonder, is this programed by purpose or is it an enginebug?

I have to say that i am a mecanical engineer and you can do similar things (saving torsion force, memory of metter [don't know the exact english terms]) to objects in our real world (of course not letting you jump 1km or such stuff) and if this physical property was not intendet by its creator (i mean if it is a bug) this would create some other interesting questions regarding this kind of "real world simulation".

What i intend to say is: Could it be that the HL2 engine provides a physical law that was not put in there by its creator? If so, this would be the first time a simulation surpasses its tautologic boundaries.....

But i guess in this case this would be a coincidence too big to belief in...  Wink
unemployed Dragon
as i can see the fight with all the striders and the hunters guarding them will take quite many retries to do this segment in 1 segment  8)

I recently added my Timescale assisted speedruns to the list of links in the first post. Check em out when you have the time.
unemployed Dragon
very fine, i recently read the discussion about timescaled runs in the HL2DQ forums. It's kinda cheatish but good for training.
Too bad i still dont have EP2 yet, I'm sure the fight against the ant lion guards can be skipped.
Maybe when i have the game i decompile the maps and look for possibilities.

The antlion guards cant be skipped. Sorry to tell ya. The exit to the next level is completely sealed until the vortiguant turns on the generator for the elevator.
The good news is that they die almost instantly using the hunter_shoot_flechette command. I have an autohotkey loop that has no sleep time, so it shoots them as fast as my computer can take the command. Its great.
unemployed Dragon
cool so you could turn down all details and resolution for recording and later - for video recording - back at maximum details.
That may skip a few commands played from demo but its legitime.
