you want to put the demos into your \Steam\SteamApps\YOUR ACCOUNT\half-life 2 episode one\episodic Folder.
Then you open the console. To do that, right click on EP1 in the STEAM GAMES window. Click properties. Click on "set launch options" and add the line -console.
Now start up the game and type into the console (should be open when you start the game) "playdemo "demoname" (qithout the quotes of course). That should do the trick.
Is this still going? Or, is there a more current thread for Episode One?
Couldn't you have PM'ed the runners, rather than just bumping the thread? If there was no response for over half of a year, then isn't it already semi-obvious?
There are runs for all maps, nobody is active on speedrunning EP1 currently.
I believe there was some buggy playback problems on EP1-demos, but I can't check that because my "new" graphics card died a while ago so I can't play EP1 any longer.

However, when playing the demo the NPCs are all spastic and when moving quickly everything lags and shakes. Sorry if it's been brought up before but is there a way to fix this? I find it really annoying and it almost made the segment unmatchable.
Would be cool if these demos were processed into a video, but I doubt that will happen.

No, because then I wouldn't have necessarily learned anything useful (since, yes, the SDA project obviously seemed to have died long ago), which DaleLewill has thankfully given me. And, besides, bumps are often used to renew interest, not always for checking status.
Does anyone know if the HL2E1DQ is still coming? The thread seemed only slightly more recent than this one, in terms of progress...
I would say that the whole project just died. The problems in the demo recordings seem to be the main cause of the lack of interest. I did help this too when the thread on hl2dq was started, but i lost interest too.
You know, i still have all the files to make the HL2DQ DVD, but i seriously just never converted some of the files over to DVD standards. The menu's were practically done, and i had all the stuff needed to do it, but people lost interest, so i lost the momentum to finish it, so i never did. Maybe someday, ill go back and complete it. :-P.
Edit: Also, i am going to be rerunning my Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes run in the near future. I have gained interest in doing it again, and with only a few glitches to work with so far. It uses a modified Half-Life engine, so any suggestions for possible glitches would be great. The thread is
what ever happened to just using good ole fraps as you play the game? i know demos are better in the HL series for the obvious reasons but other then the no slow downs when playing(is that it?), whats the big deal? i have not a clue as to what this demo glitch looks like so if its that bad, why not use fraps as you play instead of doing the demo then recording it? this came to me as i was typing this, if you record a dem, you could just send that to the run reviewer here then he can record it? ~100mb worth of demos beats the hell out of several gig of fraps
i see no runs of this game anywhere...a few weeks ago i was going to run through the game and submit it...just a simple run through not a speedrun, no orb jumps or bunny hopping, in a reasonable time... just to get someone to wake up and do a speedrun of this but i for some reason didn't feel up to it
i was probably the only idiot to watch the hl2 run (hl2dq) before playing episode 1, i basically know all the cut scene words from hl2 by heart so a speed run works out nicely id like to do the same with ep1, watch the run then play ep2, because a ~year between episodes is insane...
also, limiting fps makes bhop and flying etc way too slow. hl2 is very dependent on fps. another advantage of using demo is you can record with ugly graphic setting for better performance, then avi it with high quality setting.
btw, this is the demo glitch we are talking about.
