I'm going to have nothing to do for this afternoon, tomarrow's afternoon, and Saturday. I'm waiting to get Need For Speed: Carbon (Parents only have time on Sundays to get it). I'll try to get a better time, but I'll run it on easy to be safe.

You could have made more segments to get some of the tricks better performed, like I noticed in the tunnel where you failed to do a grenade boost.

That wasn't for getting a speed boost, it was for getting over the metal barrier.

Quote:
I also noticed that you stopped one segment when you bunnyjumped, so you losed all your speed.

There was a loading zone right up ahead, so I had to stop and trigger it before I start the next segment.

Quote:
Finally, some monsters could probably be skipped (correct me if I'm wrong).

I skip most of the zombies, but I have to kill a lot of cops because they can pick you off from far away, and since I have such low health from the grenade boosts one shot from them basically kills me.

But, otherwise, kinda cool run, I liked the shortcuts you used.

Thanks, and I must mention TheVoid was the one who came up with the "dynamiting the door" trick.

Ok, thanks for clearing those stuff up.. It was about 1 year ago I played They Hunger, so I can't remember it very much.

I think Zhouy meant the moment that you throw a Grenade in the tunnel (At 05:46) which serves no purpose or the only reason I can think off is to kill some enemies which could come after you Smiley

Why didn't you grab the health just before picking up the umbrella? (You need to wait in that room anyway so why not pick it up? Could maybe save you getting a health pack somewhere else.)

The room with a guy and where the car busts through the wall, you can stand on\at the right side of the right window to get through faster (Although I'm not sure if this can be safely done on Hard, but on Easy I didn't get hurt or anything.)

In the house where you fall through the floor, I think it's faster to throw a Grenade to kill the 2 Zombies and then jump over the gap (Unless you absolutely need the health down there).

I think these are all the comments so far, nice Speedrun Smiley

The reason I did that was to distract the cops, since they always followed me into the tunnel and shot me; this was really annoying because I needed to have full health for the upcoming grenade jump.

Hmmm... never thought about that. I guess it could save a couple of seconds since I picked up a healthkit in the cabin.

You see the grenade jump at 10:01? That's why I needed to go down there, to get the medkit in the crate.

Ah yes of course, completely forgot about that... :wallbash:

Argh, you're right making demos in 1.1.1.0 (That's it, right?), is a pain from the load zones.

Yeah, I use 1.1.1.0, I don't think They Hunger works in Steam.
^ A bug called Stinks.
It works, but it's very glitchy. (Aren't the glitches not do-able in steam as well?)
Existence as you know it is over
Well, I haven't played it in Steam, so I wouldn't know.

Come to think of it, I should have ran this game under Steam because it wouldn't have loading zone problems and my route doesn't require uncapped bhopping speed.

I might've found a time saver. You can just skip getting the train and grenade jump the barricade. You'll have to run past 5 zombies and kill two cops, but it might be worth it. Ahead are some crates, if you could get a high amount of health from the crates I could grenade jump the other barricade as well. I have to check how many health kits there are there (But I'm sure there's a lot, as a helicopter battle takes place there if I recall correctly). Oh, I believe walling strafing is faster in the train tunnels as there isn't enough room for really fast bunny hopping and zombies block the entire tunnel except the wall.

But how did you get past the part with all the cops and you're coming out of the Swamp to get the train? I know you threw a grenade after, but you dodged their bullets so well to keep 100 health on HARD.

EDIT: Of course, if I could grenade jump it without losing much health, it would be better. Since the jump isn't so high, I think this could work out.  Grin

I had to save the sniper ammo for the firefight in 10:04, and the train also kills two very annoying cops at the end of the dam.

Seriously, that part was all about luck. 90% of the time they hit me out in the open, and 5% of the time they follow me into the tunnel (when I have 100 health) and shoot me. That took me about 50 tries to get.

Thankfully since I'm running it on easy I can easily beat cops. I tried grenade jumping onto the small ledge parallel to the ledge all the cops were on but grenade jumping is too hard on the water. But yeah, I'll keep trying (I'm practicing not recording yet).

Meh, it's probably going to be slower than Slynk's. But I'm bored with nothing to do anyways.  :-/

Is this at the part with the helicopter? If so, then the grenade jump is kind of redundant because you either have to

A) Do another grenade jump over the barrier, which is impossible considering your health is already low

B) Lower the barrier in the underwater place, but then that just negates the time saved by the grenade jump.

I think there are some crates on the dam. Most of them have health kits because of the helicopter battle, I'll quickly check.

EDIT: There's another health kit on the land between the dam and the first tunnel, the health kit is in the small shack where you get more sniper ammo. Also, there's only 1 health kit in one of the crates in the dam, but 2 health kits = more than full health, health kits heal insane amounts on easy.

I've never played the game on easy, so I don't know how much health the medkits give. If they give a lot more health than on hard (which is 30 health per kit) then I guess you could do two grenade jumps.

You get like 60 or 70. I'll have to segment it a lot, in order to get the perfect shots on the police zombies while maintaining speed and ammo. But Slynk would definetly own me.

But it's fun to runWink

A rhyme!
Existence as you know it is over
slynk is very busy with Halo stuff right now, so you may as well do the easy run.

And you probably don't have to use the train either if you snipe the cops in every tunnel, then run past the zombies.

Yeah, but I'm planning to pistol or shotgun them. I need the ammo for the last chapter (Last part with lots of cops on roofs).

Also, how do you view more than one demo at once? I just need to make sure that I'm not forgetting any segment for when I record my demos.

I just name the demos "part1, part2 part3 ..." so it is easy to remember.

I do that too, but it's annoying to keep typing in the console. I remmeber someone asking the exact same question on Spider's thread/topic. I should search.

If you want to play them in succession, type "startdemos part1, part2, part3 ..." up to the last demo, and then type "demos"

Thanks.

I'll probably start recording demos tomarrow.
