Well any thoughts? is it possible? alot of the things in the pc version don't apply here. And the load times really suck but with alot of practice the game could be done.
[ 1. I don't even try to spell. 2. I see nothing wrong with leaving out half the letters in a word. 3. The Xbox version is the exact same. 4. The Xbox version is different. ]
Can it be done? Sure. Would I like to see it done? Yes. Will I do it? No. Do I think it will be done? Not anytime soon.
I understand the goal is to do the game in the fastest time possible, exploiting just about any game flaw, bug, or design choice to do so; but I still feel a twinge of regret at the number of bugs exploited in the HL2 PC run. I'm not a big fan of the jump script, and I'm not a big fan of flying. For those reasons, I'd love to see a HL2 Xbox run, where most of the PC tricks would be impossible, and they'd be replaced with new tricks that really blow your hair back. I'd love to see a run where the player stays truer to the level designer's intentions, or creatively bypasses them, instead of just flying overtop of the level. I think the restrictions of the Xbox would be perfect for that.
I think the biggest barrier to a run getting done like this is that nobody owns HL2 for the Xbox. The only people that would do this run are the ones that really like HL2 and also don't have a gaming capable PC. People who really like HL2 and own a PC they play games on own HL2 on the PC, as the PC is the far superior HL2 experience. It's just a really narrow slice of people that would even consider this run. Still, I hope to see a run like this someday.
