well..djs said archive but i dont know where to put it when im done..maybe archive maybe not. and no it wont be related to sda i guess..since sda has 7 hour limit
IIRC, 8 hour limit is reguired for any% run. 100% run can be much longer, but the any% has to be on SDA already, which in this case is. I think I've seen some discussion somewhere on forums. Better search through it.
So I can do a run on game X? Not every game is fit for speed running. A game has to have a definite end point, so something like The Sims obviously doesn't qualify. Some games are just too long... who wants to watch a 20 hour video? The tentative limit for a run should be 7 hours, but if things are slightly longer and still interesting they will be posted.
as fun as the game is, i'm surprised no one has had a go at the gta3 ss 100%, its less dangerous on your health and easier and quicker to do. I think if you had a good weekend with no distractions and knew your shit you could crack it out easy.
edit: i've been working on getting myself to 100% as i haven't actually done this yet but have with the others, and OMG there is so much to do, down to only a few things but lots more practise needed .. and good luck getting the game not to crash in 1 sitting either
ill continue this tomorrow, why i stopped/paused is because it started to get really boring. got a little question, should i continue from segment 2 or redo the whole thing because of the misstake with ambulance missions im ls? in the 'real' run ill do it i angels pine so i dont think it matters where it is in the practice run, right? and lots of new routes/tricks have been discovered now when the other gta topic is started. i think i will just continue from where i ended to find out about how long time it will take, maybe it wont be SS since 2 hours recording and the game will sure start lag as hell, it already drops to 13 fps when its raining after 10 minutes recording. and i have problems with not enough space on HD, and im almost 100% sure the game will crash after 10 hours or less. but if i dont do SS i will try to do atleast 3-5 hours/segment, and if 3-5 hours still crashes the game/drops too much in fps, ill do 1 hour segments but not anything under that. hope youre not too dissapointed with this
Having had much experience with both speedrunning San Andreas and speedrunning GTA games 100%, single-segment truly was a ridiculous proposition in the first place. There are too many places that would horribly screw you up if you made a mistake. Imagine having to backtrack to the start of the mission several times because someone got killed for instance. Or getting randomly wasted/busted yourself and having to go gun hunting/buying without knowing fully what you'd need or where to go, a few of those would be maddening, and if I did it I couldn't let anyone see it.
I'm still interested in 100% in itself though, so if you can make a decent segmented run that'd be great. Don't sacrifice quality for no reason, and lower the resolution fully, hopefully the frame rate won't drop that far because it's quite bad. And make a reasonable game plan rather than grinding at it until you get to the end. Finishing it all up incredibly sloppily running back and forth across the city won't be much fun to do or watch.
Good luck with all the aspects of this, whatever you decide to do!
thanks, i already wasted 1 minute with the counter by running around and then save (lol dumb) but 1 minute isnt that much anyway, and i need to save to start next mission.
Requirements: - Compete everything necessary that the game considers to be part of the 100% goal. - In addition, get Gold Medal on all schools and complete all Unique Stunt Jumps and both Triathlons. - Do so in under 20 hours. - Do so in under 50 segments. - Do so on Version 1.1 (2.0) of the game. - PC Version or PS2 version.
Once the run has been submitted and verified, there will be a 30 day period where someone can attempt to beat the recorded time. If in that 30 day period there is no improved run the original runner will collect the bounty in full (not like there will be much competition here).
Of course, I added a couple things in there, so it is up to the runner. I would still watch any 100% run anyone puts up anyway, but this is what I want to see.
