I routed this game a few months ago but never bothered to do anything with it because my PC can't handle it and I have no equipment to record console footage. So I'm going to post my routes/strats here for people that want to run the game.

When looking into routes between missions/objectives I always searched for the drives with the least amount of turns since accelerating and turning are really slow in GTA IV and add-ons.

I'm aware that a lot of this is probably pretty obvious stuff and I'm not claiming that this is a perfect route but it's a start and I really want to help everybody who plans on running this game. If anybody has some questions you can ask me here.

1. Clean and Serene
- Right at the beginning you can turn around your bike 90° to drive down a set of stairs instead of taking the road around the building
- I included maps for the routes for this mission as it involves a lot of driving but I won't be doing this for most other missions as it is quite obvious where the fastest way is

- there is a shortcut in Bohan which involves driving down a small slope (A on the map)

- On the way back use a set of stairs in an alleyway to get on the other side of the block (B on the map)

- approaching the enemies from the left is usually faster because you can get behind their cover easier
- pick up some pistol ammo during the shootout for this and later missions
- you can't speed up the drive to the gang house so just use it to heal and get some armor from the LaD symbol


2. Angels in America
- Starts where Clean and Serene ended
- Only thing of importance here is to kill all enemies before they reach the Booth Tunnel
- use the same route as you did in the first mission from Alderney towards Northwood
- use the sidewalk just north of the Northwood Heights Bridge to get to the final marker
- drive south after the mission for a taxi


Jims missions have to be done now because you get an automatic pistol which speeds up It's War and Action/Reaction

3. Liberty City Choppers
- Take a taxi to the truck, Jim will wait just outside of the area where the truck is parked
- When you arrive at the bar, the first bike you should take is the one furthest away (out the four closest bikes)
- Focus on collecting all the bikes first then kill anyone still alive.
- Park the bikes close to each other so Johnny gets warped behind the bikes which skips some animations


after Liberty City Choppers driving to Jims next mission is usually faster than getting in a taxi as it's a really short drive

4. Bad Cop Drop
- If the game complains that you're too far away from the Cops don't stop, just drive a bit slower for 2-3 seconds and they will catch up again
- During the gun fight you can progress towards a FIB Buffalo so you can drive away as fast as possible after the last Cop is dead.


Use a save warp after the mission
For classic% you can use the large ramp north of Trinity Rd to cross the river. The Jump at the end might be a bit risky though.

5. It's War

- You can ignore your gang and drive directly towards the first group of enemies (A on the map)
- There is armor in the right tunnel by the train track and health besides a car wreck further in the back
- You can ignore the “Meet Billy“ Message and drive right to the second shootout (B on the map)
- The Mission ends as soon as you get close to your bike after all enemies are killed so drive into the area with your bike while killing enemies
- After finishing the mission save warp back to the club house.


6. Action/Reaction
- you have to follow Billy at the start
- doesn't matter how fast you are in the race, you have to wait for Billy at the AoD Clubhouse
- use the first 2 times the LaD symbol appears to heal up, drive on the third symbol at the start of the Plumber Skyway on-ramp (not earlier) to trigger the race and not another dialogue
- park your bike close to the Club house entrance
- if you're low on health, there is a health kit behind the bar
- at the end drive towards the next big intersection (north-east) to increase your chance of finding a taxi


7. Buyer's Market
- I recommend picking up the combat shotgun on the bottom floor
- touch the marker at the top of the stairs then grab the armor around the corner at the back of a room then run down the stairs towards Nico/Playboy to trigger the cutscene
- shoot a grenade right after the cutscene to take out 2-3 NOOSE officers
- exit the apartment to the right
- use the back entrance of the house and run towards the street, there will be a Bati 800 (and 3 NOOSE officers) waiting for you
- driving south towards Outlook/Hove Beach always helped me to get rid of the wanted level fast


8. Politics
- use a taxi to get to the airport, then steal it to drive to the gate
- Drive up to the gate of the airport and destroy the helicopter without actually accessing the airport
- you might want to kill the 3 officers guarding the gate while waiting for the heli
- get rid of your wanted level on the smaller roads of Dukes


After this mission either wait for a phone call from Ashley to trigger Coming Down or start Stubbs mission Off Route. No matter what you do, don't ignore Ashleys phone call, it can take a while for her to call again even after you finished the next mission. If you find a taxi fast enough you usually start Off Route before getting the call though. In classic% I'm almost 100% certain that you will do Coming Down first.

9. Off Route
- When arriving at the location you don't actually have to touch the yellow marker on the opposite side of the gate
- Just jump over the bar and make a run for the bus while ignoring every enemy (full health bar recommended)
- There are some scripted Police spawns in Alderney City so don't bother loosing your wanted level here, it's easier and faster on the southern part of the island (Berchem, Acter, Tudor)


After the mission, save warp to the club house.

10. This Shit's Cursed
- you need to follow Billy, so use the drive to heal up
- the race gets innitiated while on Union Drive but just like during Action/Reaction, you have to wait for Billy at the end anyway
- just jump down instead of using the ladder at the end of the shoot out
- try to steal a car to get faster to the other side of the building
- Use the Ammu Nation store in Chinatown (A on the map) to buy the Uzi + 1200 bullets and armor for later missions

- you don't need to wait for Brian and Jim


It is likely that Ashley will call now, so I'm including her mission here. You can delay the mission further by getting to other mission markers before getting the call but the mission needs to be done before Roman's Holiday/Diamonds in the Rough

11. Coming Down
- Not much to say except that you don't have to wait for Ashley to get in a taxi after saving her, the game will warp her into the car when you choose your destination

12. Hit the Pipe
- the vans blow up faster if you shoot them in the lower rear with the Uzi
- it depends on van placement and taxi luck if it's faster to fast travel between vans or drive there yourself
- be careful when you put a marker on a van to fast travel there while it is on the Plumbers Skyway, the game often doesn't recognize this and puts you on a street below the skyway


13. End of Chapter
- use your remaining rockets from Politics to blow up the arriving vans
- there is armor laying around by some containers


14. Bad Standing
- you can't take a Taxi to Brians hideout

- Call Clay for backup while driving down the skyway
- it's not necessary to touch the marker in front of the house
- Shoot a rocket through the window (if you have one left), then wait for Brian on your bike
- Shoot Brian when he runs out of the house
- I usually had more luck to get a taxi west of the location


15. Heavy Toll
- I always have trouble taking a taxi at the beginning since your AI partners seem to be especially dumb in this mission so it's usually faster to drive to the toll booth yourself
- when the convoy arrives run towards the truck immediately and steal it
- then drive a little bit to the left to get out of the gunfire while waiting for Malc
- this is quite risky and it would be good to have some health/armor for this mission. You can heal up at the Burger Shot opposite of Elisabetas place at the start of the mission


16. Marta full of Grace
- blow up the helicopter with a rocket if you have one left (not necessary, but helps loosing the cops)
- try not to blow up the FIB Buffalo closest to you as it's a better vehicle to escape with than the taxi
- get rid of the wanted level in Willis/Steinway


After the mission you have a few seconds before the next mission gets unlocked so heal up at the Burger Shot if you're low on health

17. Shifting Weight
- starts where Marta full of grace ends
- can't use a taxi at the beginning
shooting the windows of the car showroom before the cutscene is pointless, they will reappear
- you can switch back to the shotgun after the game forces you to equip pipe bombs
- you end up in a remote spot, so a death warp is probably the fastest way to find a taxi (depending on your load times)


Don't had time to replay the last few missions, I'll do the rest this weekend

18. Diamonds in the Rough
- get to the start of the mission and wait there for Ashleys call to unlock it

- follow the route on the map, at (3), drop down the wall
- staying close to the stretch forces it to go faster which makes it more prone to crashing


19. Roman's Holiday

- Drive towards your final goal of the mission (3 on the map) after picking up Malc (1)
- call Roman's taxi service (555-2222) and order him to come to your location. Innitiate the call when you're at (2) on the map
- you should be both arriving at (3) at around the same time
- walk towards his car, then drive to the destination


In my experience Ray won't call when you're too close to the museum, so wait in front of a taxi after Roman's Holiday until Rays call initiates the next mission

20. Collector's Item
- health and armor are available in the museum
- jump down after the cutscene instead of walking down the stairs on the other side of the hall
- use explosives to stop cars from driving away if you're not fast enough to kill all the enemies


21. Was it worth it?

- after the cutscene warp to (1), don't follow the yellow marker (this is the closest you can get to the ambush location while still getting the call from Ashley)
- after Ashleys call triggers the hitmen, call Clay, he will set up an ambush at (2)
- only drive towards (2), after you've called Clay, if you drive there before, they won't set up an ambush
- the ambush is probably a bit slower than driving to each hitmen individually (or waiting for them at the club house) but it is definitely safer and more consistent, especially when you're low on health
- afterwards, meet Ashley at (3)


22. Get Lost
- starts where Was it worth it? Ended
- take a taxi to the prison
- get a few rockets, carbine ammo (200 should be more than enough) and armor from Terry's gun van
- when prompted to kill Billy, throw a pipe bomb over the wall, then run towards Bill
- if you timed it right Billy will die as soon as you see him
- you can't use a taxi to get to the club house
