Anyone interested in seeing a SS run of this one? I for one would love to see it, thinking of trying to do it. If there was a worthy horizontal shmup, this would be the one... Grin

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas concerning the laser types, they make quite a difference in regards to how the game will be played...?

Sorry, Shmups aren't generally allowed here, due to the fact that it's not really a speedrun when the game runs at a predetermined speed.

really? :-[ thats interesting given deaths and boss strategies can surely add/detract from your play time.... oh well.

there si a no death / crazy run of this game, just need to find the likn... I will edit soon.

btw, this gradius is probably the easiest one :-/

we.. try to dl =) its often dont work or you dl at 10k/s

if you dotn want to dl the all level run, dl this one [ Kryptos_GradiusV_912.wmv ], its the hardest part (well for me )

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't stand GAF. Everything about that site and its blogs, reviews, etc. reeks of uninformed hipster smugness and it makes me sick. =( I can't say anything about the forums though.

Brohaz: First of all... it's Gradius. Gradius has never really been good. With the possible exception of Gradius Gaiden, but I have not played that very much. However, V isn't COMPLETE crap. Has the same problem as Ikaruga though, pretty to look at but mediocre gameplay.

Second, there's a variety of much better hori shmups. To list a few:
- Progear no Arashi
- Bike Banditz
- Gochamaze no Arashi
- Angel, Destroyer
- Battle Blade
- Psyche Metal the Bleeding
- Galshell Blood Red Skies
- Hellbound+
- Blazing Star

I hear Border Down is great as well, but sadly I have not had any opportunity to try it yet.

Any other questions?

I still say Ikaruga has awesome gameplay, but apparently you have different tastes than me.

No, I didn't copy-paste.

Ikaruga had potential, but the polarity system ruined it imo. I prefer pure manic shmups, like the Touhou series, or pretty much anything by Cave.

Treasure should stick to making awesome 2D action games for GBA instead of shmups. Tongue

ikaruga is fairly perfectly designed for what it is. you can't really fault it, but it's understandable if it's not your thing.
