Alright guys, I know there's some hardcore PC gamers here and I need some help.  I've been using the Logitech Stero Headset for a while and it's been fairly nice.  Good bass, comfortable, nice microphone but as it is, I've been through two of them and both of them, within the course of a few months have had some sort of problem with the wire around the volume adjust/Microphone off or on Switch where it makes music incredibly hard to listen to without spending five minutes fiddling with the wire, then staying COMPLETELY motionless for 20 seconds... before dropping it again and having to go back to just adjusting the wire for another five minutes.

So, I am looking for a high quality gaming headset that isn't too expensive (~30 Dollars is preferred, but I can go up to around 50), that's hopefully much more durable than these logitech headphones have shown me, and most importantly, sound great for both gaming and general music and such.  Any suggestions?

ive used the same headphone for years and they still provide extremely good sound, i taped mines with tape because its falling apart but thats because i drop them all the time and pretty much tortured the thing over the years.

still cant believe they are still alive and kicking

very good to play counter strike, you know exacly where the ennemy is, just by the sound, hell i could play blindfolded

The headphones I got for Christmas are BADASS. They're "Philips Noise Cancelling" headphones, which happen to be silver ;D. I'd give you more details on it if I could, but the box got thrown out. So, this is all I can give you. If you could find them, it'd be awesome. Considering if I turn up my music about 1 notch, I can't hear anything else around me. It's like wearing earmuffs that have surround sound, then they start blasting music at you.

My favorite pair of headphones isn't available retail anymore, but if you ever find a pair of Sony CDR-180s, GET THEM.  Best headphones I've ever had.  Extremely comfortable, great sounding...soundgasm indeed.

TIOLET!
I'm using a Koss SB/45 headset, comparibly cheap and I can't complain about the quality of it either. Only drawback is that it is pushing a little too hard on your head, can be annoying sometimes.

Edit: Koss is generally cheap and high quality. My previous Koss headset (R/65B, a model that doesn't exist anymore as far as I know) served me well for over 4 years, and I didn't stop using it because of reduced quality but because my cats destroyed it. The SB/45 has been going strong for 6 months now.

Sony MDR-V6. had this pair for 3 years so far and they work great still. the only real problem is the foam has become exposed but that's just normal ware and tear.

Still alive...
I don't know a lot about Headsets with microphones.

But I once had some really expensive headphones from sennheiser. Was for DJs or something like that. I have never found any other who could compete with these. Brilliant sound and extremly clear. But they cost around 400 bucks (I got for 100 from a friend who bought new ones).

I would actually buy some cheap Sennheiser or Sony. But thats just me.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
Isn't "high quality gaming headset" an oxymoron? Also, noise cancelling headphones in your house is kind of a waste. They're good for cancelling static noise, like an airplane engine, and not dynamic noise like people around you talking. If those headphones are working well for you, it's probably because they are well insulated to the point where it annoyingly feels like your ears are in a vacuum.

Sorry, I can't really help with gaming headphones recommendations, but "some cheap Sennheiser or Sony" sounds right to me.
Let's fight to computer!
I love my Sennheiser HD580s. The sound is awesome and I can wear them literally all day with no discomfort. Only problem I've had is that the cable tends to wear out (for me, at least) but that's easily replaceable.
:wq
I've got a Koss UR-30.  They're the best damn headphones I've ever heard.
