Just throwing in my support for this - I've still got my cart and loved this game when I was a kid. However, nothing to play it on at the moment so I can't help...sorry about that.

But good luck to you mate!
Thanks for the support! There are a few people on twitch who had runs dating back to a month ago but I can't seem to view them and they aren't on SDA. One with a PB of 1:21:51.

Hello,

i'm exe from Germany and speedrun since 2011.
I start with SM64 1-Star (since 2012 0-Star too) and OoT RBA (+ any%). At 2012 i played only @ small offline events and meetings, so i wasn't aktive in the forum.
Since this year i'm active on SDA again and start with a new project i like very much: Gex64 EtG on NTSC N64
Have learned all the remotes required for any% and since last 3 weeks i do my first Fullruns.
My best time is 1:10:06 (with deaths and sloppy playstyle on some remotes T.T ) you could find on Twitch http://de.twitch.tv/exe_de
The comment is in german, but until now and with my activity in the community i'll TRY to stream in english too.

(Sorry my english is not very good, but i'll try to improve it)

In the next days i upload standalone remotes to show you my routes. If anyone knows faster ways, than it would be nice to discuss.

This is the First Remote in Out of Toon:

@1:02 you can skip a small part of the area. But sometimes there comes Air or Snow and push you back. I don't know if its random or could be manipulated.
It's the first remote in the game so its not a big deal to reset. But if i could do it consistently it would be awesome Wink

Second Remote Out of Toon:

nothing to explain.

Third Remote Out of Toon:

You need to watch how the huntsmans die.

Many Parts of the any% speedrun are inspired by Mukkis TAS you could find on youtube.
I found other ways for non-tas and use some new skips (2 of them i found by myself and can be watched on my youtube account).

I'll upload the next 3 Smellraiser remotes in the next days.

Hope some other runners are joining this.
(and hope you could understand what i wrote ^^)
OK, this makes me want to cry...

WITH HAPPINESS! thumbsup

This is amazing work mate, hope you keep it up.

Thank you ^^

I'm very motivated and i loved this game in my childhood (and now ^^).
Very bad that Mukkis seems to be inactive Sad I have some questions to him.
You guys should run the ps1 version, the n64 version is horrible. It constantly runs at 20 fps.
Generally people run a certain version of the game because it's what they own, not a direct choice...

Although I guess if you have both exe... Wink

Hehe i have the PSX Version, too. At the moment only in PAL, but it's not a big deal to buy a NTSC Version. The idea of running the PSX Version after the N64 ones seems very interesting and i like it.

But i'll show you how i choose the N64 (first):

- This was the version i played in my childhood.
- I feel very confident with the N64 Controller, because of my speedruns in SM64 and OoT
- The N64 have the Titanic Level i love very much
- The PSX Version is overall more popular than the N64 Version. But in the Speedrun Community it seems to be different.  There are more runners (they aren't very active) on N64 Version than on PSX and on speedrunslive they did some races in the past. I like to join this races too + there is an TAS on N64 Version.

But the game is almost the same, so it wouldn't be a big deal to run the PSX Version too. You must only learn the Controls with PSX pad. So maybe after N64 i do a PSX run.

Now i show you the Smellraiser Remotes.
Start with Remote 1:

@1:10 there is a glitch called "Elevator Skip" (found by thebodombeachterror8). Normally you must go into and wait until it arives.
@1:15 it's a "cutscene" and i can't move.

Smellraiser Remote 2:

nothing to explain.

Smellraiser Remote 3:

nothing to explain.

See you soon with the Titanic Level ^^

Ok here are the next three remotes in the Titanic level + the first Boss fight.

Gecques Cousteau Remote 1:

@1:19 it's sometimes possible to jump BEHIND the loading zone. When you enter it from the other side, you will warp into the toilet (lol). There are no way to comes out and you must leave the level with pause quit.
The Jumppart on the toilet is a little bit tricky. There are hugh slowdowns on some jumps and the Tail Bounce on the wooden plank is risky, because this plattform is smaller than it looks.

Gecques Cousteau second remote:

this remote is very easy.

Gecques Cousteau remote Number 3:

the same as above.

Here is the first Boss with the fastest order. You must stand on specific points, because the blue balls flies in different angles when you hit them, depending on the points you wait.
Gilligex Isle:

The next 3 Remotes are from Frankensteinfeld (my german home ;))
Edit history:
exe: 2013-05-01 04:51:44 pm

And here comes Frankensteinfeld.

I'll show you a camera bug first. It seems to appear if you are TO quickly (ironic in a speedrun lol). The camera fully zooms out and you can't reset it.
@0:11 You can run instead of long jumping, so it don't happend.

First Remote of Frankensteinfeld:

I found a faster method to jump on the knights @0:22 than in Mukkis TAS. He use a pressure jump with the "purple lava" on the right side.

Frankensteinfeld second Remote:

The switching of the camera angle @0:24 is stupid, but you must deal with it.

Frankensteinfeld Third Remote:

The damage you taken at the end isn't a big problem. You can play safer to prevent it, but it loose time.

I don't know, if i have enough time at the weekend to upload the next remotes. The next ones are www.dotcom.com (2 Remotes)
Very nice work. Do you have any interest in running gex 3? I have been learning the game over the past few months.
from PAListan
Yes of course. After EtG i'm plan to run Gex64 DCG. Sorry that i'm also interested in the N64 version first Wink
But after that i'm plan run both Games on PS1, too

Here are the www.dotcom.com Remotes.

The first remote:

nothing especially to explain. The parts with the green jumping-plattforms are a little bit tricky, but over time you learn to control gex in the space.

The second remote in www.dotcom.com:

@0:53 and @0:57 i wait a second for the camera to switch. The controls in Gex are sometimes a big problem, because the camera can switch automatically (like in this situation)
@1:24 i run around, because you need a little bit speed to perform a high Tailbounce.

The next Remotes are in Mao Tse Tounge (only 1 Remote) and the second Boss (Pork)

from PAListan
And here is Mao Tse Tongue. It's only one remote because the second ist too long. (You must get 33 of 35 remotes to complete the game, so this is the first you skip)

@1:35 i choose the left way instead of the right one, because at the jumper of the right sight, gex couldn't stick on the wall with first jump (i don't know why it works on the left side)
The jump part after that is realy tricky. The camera angle is really bad.

and here is the second boss Mooshoo Pork:

You can jump through the boss with Long Jumps, because it has invincible frames in the middle of the jump

The next remotes are 2 in Fine Tooning.
from PAListan
Ok here isn't a new remote, but i'll show you the random final boss Sad
I don't know how i could manipulate it and if this is possible in general.

sorry for the german commentating. I stream every sunday and thursday (from 08:00PM CET - 10:00PM) in german
http://de.twitch.tv/exe_de/c/2217030

You can see the Bossfight in 1:04:00 (after the camera bug). It seems that the second phase is completly random.
The Boss must hit the appearing switches, and the first 2 parts arn't a big problem, because he hit 3 (then 2) times.
But @ the last one, he only hit one time and if the switch is on the other side you aren't fast enough to get it.

The Final Boss frustrated a lot. I test a few setups, but can't find a way to manipulate it.

Ok, go on with the next Remotes in Fine Tooning.

Start with the second Camera Bug in this Route. It's the same Bug as in Frankensteinfeld. I found a new way to Long Jump and don't trigger the bug. You can find this method in my last Fullrun i've linked above this post.

First Remote:

@0:13 you can skip a large part with a precise long jump.
@0:42 you can see the "Instant Long Jump". You must do a normal jump and hold "Z" in midair. When you land, you must hold the stick in the direction you want to jump and press A immediately after this to perform the Long Jump.
@0:46 this part is really tricky, because the camera view is awful. Gex slides a little bit (with his normal jumps) when he land, so you must learn the controls or do risky tail bounces you can see in the movie. The controlling of Tail Bounces are harder than normal jumps

Second Remote in Fine Tooning:

nothing to explain. It's the same route as in the other remote.

The next Remotes will be in "The Umpire Strikes out". I found 2 massives Bugs which can destroy your run.
Edit history:
exe: 2013-05-01 04:52:46 pm

This time, I'll show you the 2 Remotes in The Umpire Strikes Out. There are 2 Bugs and each of them could kill a run.

This is the first Bug. It seems that it happend if both opponents attack you at the same time

And this is the second Bug.

This is the first Remote in TUSO:

The whole Level must be played really straight. The part @1:34 is risky, because when you land on the wrong point, you can fall off.

And this is the second remote:

nothing to explain here.

I don't know when i'll have the time to upload the next Remotes. But I'll try it tomorrow.

Ok i've uploaded the next Remotes faster than i tought. And i'll show you 5 Remotes in 2 Levels.

The first 2 Remotes are from Pangaea 90210.
This is the first one:

I've collected the "Fire Skill", because Gex in invincible and a little bit faster with it.

The second Remote in Pangaea:

Nothing special to explain.

And now we comes to Honey I Shrunk The Gecko.
I found a new method for the first part of ALL three Remotes. You can see the old method (which Mukki used in his TAS) and the new method i found (@0:36)

Explanations are in the Youtube Infobox.

Here is the first Remote in HISTG:

You can play it a little bit faster of course. But this Links should show only the Routes.

The second Remote:

@2:03 you must perform a high Tail Bounce. You can only do the high form if you have enough speed. To get this speed, i run in a circle and do the tail bounce then.

And the last one:

Nothing special here.

It seems that nobody is interested in this Game Sad
But i like it very much so I'll go on to upload more stuff. (i hope it's not because of my bad english, so you couldn't understand what i write :/ )

Here is This Old Cave 1:

You must turn the camera in all three Remotes (shown @0:08). It's a very precise controlling of the camera and you must know the exact timing. In 0:09 you could see how it goes wrong. I was lucky there, because most times you fall into the lava.

The second remote of this level:

There is a camera Bug @0:47 which appears every time. You must control Gex blind into the Remote!

And the Last one:

nothing special here.

And this is the third Boss Level - Gexzilla vs. Mecharez:

It's possible to hit him one more time if he fall off a building. But it's a small frame thing (1 Frame if i remember correctly ... i read it in Mukkis TAS explanatians) i only have seen in the TAS. It's really lucky if it's happend.

I also have done a New WR today. There is much potential to improve and i'll try to beat 1:05:00. I do Fullruns since 1 Month so there is a lot of thins i must learn ^^
http://de.twitch.tv/exe_de/c/2230582

You can hear my very bad english.
The Final Boss is so random Sad  He could kill a lot of good Runs in the Future Sad

The next Remotes are in Samurai Night Fever. The hardest Level of the Game (for me). It's the second last level and after this there are ony 3 Remotes in Pain in The Asteroids and the Final Boss.

EDIT: I've edited a lot of the last Post so that the Youtube Links don't appear in the Post. They are only linked now. The Site goes really slow down. I Hope this is not the reason nobody joined this Topic ^^

Hey exe, your avatar needs more HEADPHONES, on a side note; Great finds and keep up the awesome breaking of this game. Cheesy Looking forward to any run attempts you may do in the future.

EDIT: Do you plan on doing a 100% run, or better yet, is anyone planing on doing a 100% run?
I do believe someone has done a 100% run, but it's really old. Just search it on youtube.

Thank you Strongfox.

I'll do it step by step. My first project ist Gex64 any% and after this: Gex64 Deep Cover Gecko any%.
I don't know the controlling difference in the PS1 Version and if i'll have problem with learning these controls. If it's not a big deal, i'll also play the PS1 Version in both Games.
After this (I'm very careful to plan these things in the future, because i haven't done a SDA run yet) it could be possible, that i test 100% of EtG. But i'll concentrated in any% first.

I wish that Mukki is still active, because i have some questions to him Sad But he seems to be inactive.
The Final Boss "killed" the second run i've done. I don't know if there is a pattern, which you can manipulate the spawning of the switches.

Thanks for the information. I found a video on youtube that may be of what your talking about but it may not be the actual video you where talking about. I'll post it anyways so everyone can check it out.
