I admit, I'm kinda desperate to get on the AGDQ couch, so I'm thinking I can just make the run for one game and earn a spot out of lack of competition. But I've been foiled at each turn.

So now I ask: Is it worth running a game that isn't exactly super fun, or a game you know you won't be the fastest at? I know speedrunning is fun, but it can get boring depending on the game. For example, my current only speedgame is Rampage: Total Destruction, which consists almost entirely of getting onto buildings and smashing, with only a few variations depending on RNG. And it's about two hours of monotony. Not entertaining to watch. Unless you like kaiju.

I was playing with the idea of a P.N.03 run, buuuuut it's been done, and apparently, the one I wanted to do, a New Game + run in the best suit, is not the best after all. That game is also pretty monotonous, though it's got loads of different action.

Currently debating doing Dragon's Curse...but not only has it been done (Wonder Boy III), it would be slower due to not being able to change forms at will anymore. Plus it's really hard. Different version, but worth it?

Finally, the only game I know 100% I would have a blast doing is SSX3, but the problem there is that the run I wanna do is long and somewhat repetitive since you need to race each course multiple times. And I just KNOW the Freestyle path is slower.

What's a guy with little time to do?

In my opinion, having fun is the most important part. As someone who primarily watches the marathons, seeing a runner who is bored makes me bored too. If you are not enthusiastic about your own run, it will probably be a hard sell.

Also, just because a run has been done before does not mean that it is unbeatable. Many uncommon games have records that were run once and set without too much planning or optimization.

Hm...okay. SSX3 is just fun for me, and a good test of consistency. PN03 keeps you on your toes and has a great ost, and, if the current run is any indication, pretty short to run. Dragon's Curse is fun, but can be pretty brutal, and the current run, which has a mechanics advantage, is almost an hour. I'm not sure just how long the SSX3 run would take, given I don't know if I want a full campaign run or just an all-mountain race.
