Willing to teach you the impossible
Ok, with bad luck and everything that could go wrong did, I just did a part 1-7 SS and was 5 min faster than the segmented parts. Part 6 and 7 are still encoding, but I will get them out soon along with the 1-7 SS.

Things are looking good.
Willing to teach you the impossible
Here are parts 6 and 7.

1-7 SS encoding now, so it will be up later.
Willing to teach you the impossible
OMG, this took a day and a half to encode. And its only 1:11:09 vid. So i cant wait to see how long it takes to encode the full run...

Anyway, this is parts 1-7 in a SS run through just to see how some things would work out.

Also, since no one seems to know this game all to well, I guess posting all this will help with other learning the game. So my final product will be a real treat for the followers.

Enjoy

Edit: I just noticed that the video names were messed up, but it is the right files.

You know, I really forgot just how long this game really is...

I am currently doing planning while not recording. I am doing this because I noticed that there is a lot of end game stuff that can be planned right at the start of the game.

One thing that is a real big one is money, I just don't seem to have enough. Also the skill points is a rather large issue.

Currently as through planning, I still feel strong with doing this single segment.

This is kind of a heads up. Since I am really not getting much of any help from the forums, I am gunna start doing lots of my planning away from it. I will keep it updated as for times and such, but I will no longer upload vids unless I am asked. I may not post on this thread for a while, but I will be working on this. And as said before, I am doing this run for me and only anyway. But I do want to share it with anyone that wants to follow.

As of right now, I think I am half way through it. And I am over the 2 hour mark.
Well, good luck. Don't let it discourage you that no one replies in the thread. There are always a lot of lurkers.
Willing to teach you the impossible
No, it wont. The big reason is the long hours of encoding that stops me from recording. This way helps it go faster
Willing to teach you the impossible
I think I will be needing a new game cube to finish this run, keeps freezing on me and lags a lil bit.
Willing to teach you the impossible
Got another GameCube today, still lags in specific parts, so I don't think it can be helped. But it does not freeze on me any more.

Also, I have started on the final product. Segmented first. I will follow it up with a SS run.
Willing to teach you the impossible
Just finished the game. After the final blow, it goes to a cut scene then allows me to save. Thus giving the final time. Because of this, having to time it wont be an issue at all.

I just went through it for semi speed semi casual and got the time of 5:15. So after some more planning and such, I wanna go for a 4:30. If I get that to easy, then I will drop my goal time.

Overall, I know what skills I do and don't need and when I will need them. So now its all planning from here till I get my final product.

Awesome, good luck on this final stretch or so bringing it all together.  8)

Oh fun fact, I am doing live commentary with it. Hope ppl like it.

And first 2 segments are done, I have no idea how many I will end up having yet, kinda winging it when it comes to that. But I should make consistent progress through the entire thing.

Attempts so far...
Seg 01: done in 7
Seg 02: done in 24
Seg 03: polishing still before recording
Willing to teach you the impossible
DAMN!! I keep impressing myself. I will set a goal time for a segment after polishing, then while recording everything seems to actually go right and I get a better time that what I was expecting.

Update...

Seg 03: while recording, Audacity crashed on me when I hit stop recording, so I don't have a record count for that, I think it was about 5 takes though. I did a post commentary though.
Seg 04: done in 5 takes

Overall time so far is 0:37 and my goal time for this point was 0:40. So right now, I am a happy camper

Good deal, always up for informative commentary.

Willing to teach you the impossible
I am looking for feedback for what I have here.

Any ideas on how to make it better? Any comments in general? So far so good? Scratch it and start over?

All have audio commentary.

Taking a break from Super C, so bringing back a few other projects from limbo.

I will be doing a segmented run of this game first. I will NOT submit anything slower than a 4:14. As I still have this time on my memory card from my segmented run I produced in a week. So getting everything really fine tuned, I am sure I can hit a 4:12 - 4:13. But if I hit a 4:14 again, I will be happy with it.

So, for anyone who knows the game, I will give my general route.

Follow the game path with skipping as much as possible till just before freeing Krobelus. Deviate from that path and head to Maridian Pass and do the "White Lady" side quest. Head back on track till the end of the game. I will be buying Munari and Twilight gear when I first get the chance and getting weapons then as well. There are a few tough spots in this run but nothing too major.

I have not figured out a good late game exp gain to get me on track with the game after getting back from the Tree of Eleh. I am under experienced from here till the end of the game, so if anyone knows of a easy experience gain in the late game like this, I am very interested. Till then I will be grinding this game out.

Hope yall enjoy the final product Wink

Lol, I was putting this off for the SPO IL table... But I am done with that now. Does anyone here know this game well enough to help plan at all? I have a rout already planned out but I would like to know if there is an easy experience gain I am missing that could make the endish game easier. I am having some problems in a few spots and I feel as if it could be easier than what it is...
I very much enjoy the Summoner series, and have been lurking this thread for a couple months. I've actually been working on a test run of the first game over the past year as more of a funsies project (~0:40 saved at start of Ikaemos 1  :D). I loved Goddess Reborn, as it meshes alot of game types and styles that end up being really fun in the end. I'm nowhere near as proficent at this game as the first one, but I would love to do whatever I can to help you work out your run. Currently downloading your segment 1-5 torrent, though its going quite slowly (read:stopped). This is a great game that deserves a great run, and I can't wait to see what you've done with it! Keep at it!

(btw I was checking out the livestream page and almost jizzed myself to see this game up there; I'd love to watch it streamed)
Willing to teach you the impossible
Sorry to say, but them torrents have been dead for a while now. And I don't have them vids anymore. Thank you for your interest in helping out. T plan on running this game a few times threw so expect a bunch of youtube links for showing everything.
Bwahahaha... there WILL be domination!
Huh, I had no idea this was hidden in here...  I'm a big fan of the game and your times are about what I had guessed for a speedrun (4:15 or lower for a solid run).  Looking forward to seeing more of this
Willing to teach you the impossible
Sweet. Now I know I have at least 2 ppl that can verify this run... Thought it was gunna be in limbo for a while.

Anyway, I am gunna try and kick out a full run over the next 24ish hours. Wont be the best, but will show general strats and rout, allowing for feedback from anyone who can chip in. I am most worried about the late game as I am really under leveled and shit hurts...

Ummm, I found a few segments (1-8) from a run I did a while ago. I am uploading them all into 1 video to youtube for yall to see. I dont know how well the encode will turn out, but still it is something. Should be up in a bit, I am heading off to work while it is being posted.

Watched the video, and I have to say, it would appear as you have this part of the game near-optimized. The only place that there might be room for improvements is the Eleh fragments. In your commentary you said there are areas of the game that dont let you progress until you kill certain/all enemies, so I just assumed that was the case here. However, in the last leg before the Blood fragment, you have Iari run straight to the end, using the cutscene as a warp. Though you've likely already tried it, is it possible for every other leg of the fragments to be skipped in this fashion (as in every one, there is at least one cutscene that warps all your guys to you). If skipping such a large part of this segment were possible, I think it would signifigantly shorten your time here (albiet really cutting into your gold).

One other thing I noticed was at the boss fight in the Blood fragment. In this video: , this guy is able to shoot down the boss rather quickly with Iari (starting at about 2:04), while paying little attention to the guardians. Im not too familiar with the exact mechanics of the fight, but if there's any way that this can help you, then godspeed! Great job so far!

Thank you for feedback. I have been feeling alone here...

No this can not be done. a text box opens up and says the portal is not working or something like that. So my party ends up fighting and dieing while I am wandering away...

Good call on this. The gardians are there just to fuck with you. I did not know about this series of videos, and I will be watching them. Thank you. I am 4 lvls behind that vid though, I still think I can get that strat to work. I still need to watch the other vids and see what he has equipped on Iari to see if there is anything that could be easy/not to time costly to get.

This guy has 26 vids for this game, I shall start my marathon of watching it now Wink
Bwahahaha... there WILL be domination!
Sadly, I don't think I know enough about this game to help, and my copy is buried... heh.

The run, however, looks fantastic.  I look forward to seeing the end result of it.
