I've been running this game on and off for a while now, and it's a pretty fun game. My PB/WR in Any% is 30:19.
The main reason why I'm posting this is just to let people know that I'm probably going to try and go for a sub 30 run and submit it to SDA.
To be honest, there isn't a whole bunch of stuff you can do to speed this game up. You save ~20 minutes on soft reseting to skip cutscenes. Then you can just save more time by doing well in the boss stages and not losing all your lives. It doesn't actually waste any time if you lose a life to a regular microgame, however it does waste time if you lose a life during a boss stage or if you (obviously) lose all of your lives.
