What is Gamefest?
This event called Gamefest is a gathering for speedrunners and fans. It takes place during the DGT – Deutsche Gamestage (lt. „German Game Days) in Berlin, Germany. The Gamefest had its debut at April 2013 with a public speedrun race in „Super Mario World“ and several Guinness World Record attempts which AdamAK, coolkid and El_Nino participated. Due to the great feedback of the runners and the success of the last event, we decided to do it again!

The Gamefest is an event for every member from all communities. Please note that this event is not from Speed Demos Archive.

Whats new in 2014?
Unlike in 2013, the runners wont do Guinness World Record attempts this time. In 2014, speedrun event as well. This showcase will be held from Friday to Sunday (11th - 13th) in a separate location very close to the hotel. But the Gamefest will offer several events like a Mario Kart Wii tournament which covers the best players in Germany and you will have the chance the most famous Lets Players "Gronkh" and "Sarazar" in Berlin.

When is Gamefest 2014?
Friday, April 11th through Sunday April 13th are the dates we are broadcasting this whole speedrun event.

Who will organize it?
The Gamefest 2014 will be organized by the Computerspielemuseum. However, the speedrunmarathon and –races will be organized and hosted by Stefan „Mahrla“ Mahrla, Dominik „Freak“ Hellfritzsch from Victory Road.de and myself. Edenal, who is responsible for the European Speedster Assembly offered his assistance aswell so you can make sure that this task is well secured. Stefan Mahrla and myself are organizing a well known Nintendo community event annually and are very familiar with our favorite topic speedruns so you can count on us .Further support comes from olymptronica, specialist for gaming culture events in Germany.

Where will it be held?
Due to the success in 2013, we will expand in 2014. The main event will be held at the Computerspielemuseum in Berlin, Germany but we will have a second venue of 300m² for the speedrun event. The venue is close to Alexanderplatz in Berlin. The airport you want to aim is Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL).

Where will I sleep?
We have a cheap hostel really close to the venue so you wont have much problems getting some sleep quickly. Take a look at their website:

What will it cost for me?
There will be NO ENTRY FEE and no costs for the catering for the speedrunners who qualified themselves for the marathon. There will be an attendance fee for the guests at 8 € for one day and 17 € for the whole event.

Concerning the airport: There is no real harm if you manage to find a cheaper flight to Berlin-Schönefeld (SXF). It's just a longer train ride to get into town (which will be slightly more expensive than from Tegel; a few Euros at most) and it's easy enough to reach the Alexanderplatz as well.

I don't live in Europe or anything but I hear RyanAir has real cheap prices so if they go to Berlin then that could be an option for people, there is also Easyjet & Wizzair , they are low cost airlines so you get what you pay for on those flights, I just wanted to point out since not many people know of those airlines (the ones I speak to atleast)

I don't know if they fly to Schönefeld, but it just doesn't make sense, imagining them flying to Tegel xD.
Easyjet yes (I hear they are the prime users of Schönefeld), Wizzair I don't know, and there are also Germanwings, FlyBE and many many more. Your best bet would be to use a large price comparing site (like fluege.de, no ad intended) and ask there. Sorry that I cannot give a site like fluege.de for non-Germans ^^'

And it just occured to me: In case you wish to travel by train (maybe because you're German xD): Berlin-Alexanderplatz is a regional train station to which you can buy a direct ticket. Chances are you'll be changing from a long-distance train (most likely ICE) at Berlin Central (Hbf). bahn.de is the website of your choice.

The walking distance will be very short, yeah. There will be an on-stage streaming stage but I will make sure that the runners wont be disturbed like last year. He was very satisfied with everything. We can talk about everything at AGDQ if anyone wants to.

I am still at AGDQ but I got new information for the event. We will provide a speedrun marathon from Friday to Sunday (24/7) and get a separate location for it. TheSundaySequenceBreak is going to do a news about this event in the course of the next week. I already spoke to AdamAK, WMJ and A-M - all of them will probably come to Gamefest. Due to unknown reasons, they did not see this topic besides of A-M.

really awesome. Just got the info I needed today - It's pretty likely that I'll attend.
I'll go through all the calculations and post / edit then.
but only from friday to sunday only due to college x)

edit: yup, it's very likely for me to attend.

Oh and by the way - which language will we commentate the runs in?
German or english? (I'm not really used to commentating in german - but I could still do it, I guess xD)
