Bwahahaha... there WILL be domination!
If someone wants to make it happen in SoCal, I'll abandon the idea of a marathon in Denver.  My main idea was that any marathon is better than no marathon.

I can't make it happen in SoCal because I can't travel... that's the main/only reason I'd have it here.
Waiting hurts my soul...
If there's more interest to have it in SoCal, then I'm willing to help out. I don't think I have the time to organize this on my own (wish I did).

Yeah, I'd help out with anything I could if someone else wants to do this thing in SoCal.

Until someone coughs up some hard plans for a California marathon, let's not call off the Denver one.
Bwahahaha... there WILL be domination!
^Yup, that's the idea ^_^
You should take us Europeans into consideration, it's already quite pricey to go to America, so it might be best to have it somewhere near the east coast.

Btw my American geography is rubbish so this comment could be pointless.

No, not at all.  Denver's in the mid-west, so you're right.  However, the main marathon is already held on the east-coast, so this marathon is more for the other half of the country.

Anyone willing to come can, of course, but anywhere it moves it'll increase availability to some and lower it for others.

Hopefully I can help people experience the marathon by doing it here~
Fair enough - if people outside the US can't afford going to Denver, they can always just wait the few months to the main marathon. This is probably what I will be doing, if I can make it at all.

Yeah, this is looking to be a small marathon, which isn't all bad.  more time per player, more playaround time...  It's not going to be like SDA East, but hey, it won't be bad!
i would love to do a NSMB Wii any% run at a marathon...would have to be in the form of an off-site runner (like mentioned before).  I would also like to see a prince of persia game, i know Mike was originally practicing for doing sands of time GCN at this past marathon, but flaked out Wink ...that's another one i'd love to run in a marathon.

Zeo's idea of having (planning) two (or more) marathons to occur in tandem sounds like a logistical nightmare. We only have 1 nate and 1 lag. Wink

Wouldn't be easy to run two consecutive marathons in tandem by ANY MEANS, but it would probably be MINDBLOWINGLY AMAZING if it was successfully pulled of because it would be twice as long, and twice as much talent.  And probably almost every game anyone wants to play could be arranged.

Esp if the WC one is in Denver, Ohio would eb able contribute more because frontier flys a lot direct flights to Denver form Cleveland on the cheap.  trying to get to DC form Ohio is not  near as easy.

I know that even if there was a marathon in Denver I would still fly to the one on the east coast, and I live here.

So, no, I think it's a terrible idea to try to do it simultaneously.

again, not simultaneously, back to back. :p

Literally back to back is quite risky, since weekends are obviously the best part of the week to do this kind of thing, and you can't have two weekends back to back :p
It would work with a holiday that falls right before/after a weekend, but you'll have to check if there's any this year. Otherwise, it's better to have some days between each marathon, making the first one end Sunday night and the second one start Friday afternoon.

That's true if they don;t run over.  I'm assuming that its going to run to Tuesday again, maybe even early wensday, and if number 2 can pick up where number 1 left off, or close to it, and run though Monday morning, you;d pick up a lot more donations, as well as make it easier on people that took a weeks vacation.

Also just so happens Fourth of July falls on a Monday.  Making that an ideal end weekend.

^I wouldn't run one back to back...  Even barring the fact that people are willing to travel further if it's in Cali (which, ya know, is supposed to be the reason for this marathon: easy accessibility (UA's post makes no sense to me)), that would mean that just about everyone attending in Denver would probably rather be in Cali.

Again, if someone wants to put together a Cali Marathon for SDA West, then I'm going to drop the Denver marathon.  I've already spent fifteen hours on the phone in two days, so if someone wants to start putting it together, please do it sooner than later, both for your sake and mine.

To the handful of people who it would make a (negative) difference too, I do want to offer my apologies for this stance.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (Soma NewGame+ or any type of Julius run...normal run of this takes entirely too much luck manipulation)

I do a casual New Game (non-plus) of AoS in about one hour. It includes picking up just a couple of extra souls plus the 3 required for the "true" ending, and getting that nice big sword from under that sunken ship past the waterfall. It doesn't sound fast but it looks nice when you see it.

Also, if I'm going to do piano again it has to be for one person, not a race. Races lag too much and the piano music never matches up.

I say you should do Mega Pianoman. Wink
Piano should probably go with a gsme that has the same music most of the time.  Battletoads, while it was epic, seemed kinda of a strain on kareshi's ability to keep up(judging from the commentary stream).  Of course that might have had something to with PJ moving at light speed too.

Super Mario brothers 100% might be a far easier piano task.
Talk to the Hand
I'd let Kareshi be the final judge of that. I don't think it was so much this game specifically (This is now the third time he's done something like this for Battletoads, albeit the first race situation), as just the format in general. I know last year he told nate "There are points where it'll sound like the piano is out of sync. It's not; it sometimes just takes me a bit to react to the end of the level."
Makes sense. If anything I would to hear him do a game with more songs. I remember him seeming to get bored in some of the parts of Battletoads, and I think 100% SMB (which has only 4 songs in total, and I think I with no piano experience could learn how to play the underground theme) would be even worse. Living with a talented piano player, I don't think more songs is a problem, you just can't go instantly from one theme to another without a pause or a transition.

If there are going to be PC games, I will happily donate for you to add You Have To Burn The Rope with a sing-a-long of the music at the end Cheesy

Which is not bad for a game that will add less than 5 minutes to your schedule Wink
