THIS IS A GO!!

Sign up at http://goo.gl/forms/txgVgtJ6FV

If you see anything that needs to be added or clarified, please let me know. Sign ups will end on Nov 30th at 11:59pm. I am hoping to get a good chunk of people here to come hang out and have some fun, so don't be shy!

-------------------------------------
During RPG Limit Break, the topic of a SE USA or Florida speed and challenge gaming meet up was entertained. I would be happy to host such an event, as I am centrally located in Florida and have the necessary facilities and equipment to host such an event, at least on a small scale. This thread is being created for us to discuss the idea of this, including who would be willing to attend, if the marathon should be for fun or for charity, and what types of runs (speedruns, challenge runs, or both) should be included. Let's just talk this out and see where it goes!

Please favorite this thread and check back from time to time to see what updates, if any, have been made. The goal would be to make this happen sometime in September-October or February, I believe, but we can change it depending on who is available during certain times.

Let's have an open discussion on this! The worst that could happen is nothing, and we will be right back where we started.

Also, I am down with speedruns and challenge runs. I am a challenge runner by heart, and they are fun to watch, IMO.
I don't speedrun, nor do I have the desire to learn routes/glitches for a game, but I'd be happy to show up for morale and spend some quality time with other game enthusiasts. I can probably also assist people within 200 or so miles who need help with transportation to/from the event.

My attendance depends on how the schedule conflicts with work, but I'm definitely interested in the status of the event as plans progress.

To this point, those who are interested in attending wouldn't need to run anything. If your thing is to be supportive or just watch and enjoy, that's a great thing! I just want a bunch of like-minded people to get together and have fun, and play games!
Hey catastrophic.hope this gains some momentum. A casual merry would be awesome.I'm down for either. I could learn some routes if it streams or just a casual event. I'll keep up on this thread and hopefully see some development
I'm in SW FL and should be able to attend depending on workload at the time.  Doing it for charity would be great, but I'm ok with a just for fun event as well.  I'm more inclined towards a speedrun marathon than anything else, but a mix of things could be ok.  By challenge run, do you mean something along the lines of what SGL does?
SPEEDruns not SAFEruns
Yo Cata, sounds cool man. Keep an eye on the speed run calendar here . September is wide open, but October has DeuceCon and Best of NES already happening. February would work better for me if I were to try and attend - and just for fun is always better imo
Depending on where in Florida this is held I may be willing to come and hang out.  Represent the RPG crew

Same as Highspirits. Also depending on the date.
I want off the ride....
Obviously i'd be tagging with the DragonDarch
The date is TBD. It really depends on what is good for everyone. I don't want to interfere with SGDQ, Deucecon, the holiday season, etc, but we also want to pick a convenient time.

Also, I am located in Central Florida in Wesley Chapel (near Tampa) - About 75 miles from Ocala. We'd likely do it here since I believe I have the internet and the space for it.
I live an hour from Tampa, would be perfect for me.  Just give me enough time in advance and I'll be there
I'm 2 hours away, so I'm in(again, depending on the dates).
Dapper as fuck.
I'm TBD depending on date as well, but I'm interested.
So, I am considering dates and it seems to be that no matter what date it is it's going to encroach on something someone else has going on. Having it in September is doable, if everyone is down with that, even though its very little prep time; otherwise, it would need to be sometime during the beginning of the new year in 2016 (likely in February as was suggested by Deuceler). Thoughts?
If Its during Luiz-a-thon in September then I won't be able to make it.  Anything earlyi n the new year might cause problems too.  Otherwise, most anything else would work

November is wide open as well, as is late August.
I have one run for Luiz-a-thon, so as long as it doesn't fall on that weekend I'm pretty much down for whenever.
i live in Jax id be interested in joining the event as well

I'm in Georgia, just north of ATL on the perimeter, but would be willing to make a 6 hour drive (as long as it's weekend friendly.) Used to be a challenge runner so a mixed event of challenges and speedruns sounds like a good time. I'd swing by and help/play/chill.
I'm in TPA, I can defiantly come wherever in FL.
I can also represent the RPG crew like Highspirits.
So, we will be looking at Late February/Early March for this. I think this is the most centralized time for us to do this that is convenient to everything. Additionally, I can take off whatever time is needed for this, so weekend v weekday would not be an issue for this.

So, who is still in? If you are in, what do you run, what would you want to run, and if you want to do a challenge run, what would the run (or boss) be, and why?
The sooner we can come up with dates the more I'd appreciate it.

I can pretty much run any Lunar or Dragon Quest main series game.  RPGs are all I really do outside of one goofy emulator game.
Due to not knowing if I'll have a job or not in the next couple months, I can no longer guarantee anything.  If things get resolved soon, I'll throw my name back in.  If I do come, the games I currently run are Splatterhouse 3 and Predator (NES).
Same as High Spirits, Sooner the better on the dates so i can schedule for time off.

Also i run RPGS mainly, though i am working on Genji for PS2.
Current game though is Infinite Undiscovery
No one should guarantee or not guarantee their attendance and participation. I want this to be as casual as possible while still being organized, I would like for this to be more of a "hey, lets go hang out" type of event than it is a "I am here for a marathon" event. Let's tentatively plan for the last week of February or the first week of March (sometime between Feb 22nd and March 5th). Obviously, we would still need to have "sign ups", but that would be more for me to figure out who will come, who won't, and what all I need to prep for.

Thoughts?
