While the above post is a tough act to follow, I think it's time I bumped this thread. So I just beat this game and I love it, and now I'm really curious what a speedrun would look like. I've looked on TASvideos without any success in finding a thread on the topic, and all of the files and video in this thread are in the internet graveyard.

I'm thinking of routing it myself, so I don't necessarily need another run as a baseline, but all my google-fu can't get me any reliable information about the RNG of this game. It seems rather fixed and difficult to manipulate unless you have a few units on the board and change the order of your actions, or if you're willing to burn a match in the arena. Are there any other ways of burning random numbers? Even if not, are there methods available for me to see the list, and if so, what's the order of calculation for skills like consecutive attack, critical, and meteor hit.

Basically it looks like there really isn't much documented information about something which was obviously pursued in some detail in the past. If anyone from the community is still around to fill me in, I'd greatly appreciate it. I have a cart, so if I did decide to run it after routing it, then I could submit to the site.

Vykan posted a bunch of links to Fire Emblem TASes on TAS Videos a while back, so that'd be the first place to go. I don't remember what the thread was named, but if you just look for posts he made with Fire Emblem somewhere in them, it should come up. I remember seeing a Thracia 776 TAS there, and I'm pretty sure Seisen was there as well.

As far as I know, the RNG is fixed in this game and you can only reasonably mess with it through battles (arena or otherwise). As for order of calculations, I guess Serenes Forest might have that? Honestly, I don't think the routing would be that complex for this game if you're willing to glitch it. I'm pretty sure the entire process goes like this:

- Move Sigurd a lot and figure out the best way to keep him making good progress to each castle for Prologue - Chapter 3.
- Make Eden spam staves whenever she can so that you can promote her.
- Try to get Sigurd's resistance to 16 (?) before Chapter 4.
- Pair Eden/Claude immediately.
- Hate everything about Chapter 4.
- Use Rescue glitch to complete the rest of the game, because Eden's daughter will also start with the Rescue staff thanks to Blaggi blood.
- Berserk the guy near Yurius, let him drop Yurius to 1 HP, and finish with Celice.

The only really tricky parts are before you start Rescue glitching, but even those should mostly be just "move Sigurd -> end turn." The 16 resistance thing is just because you want to be immune to those pesky Sleep staff guys in Chapter 4. You might need to look at the page on Serenes Forest about the jealousy mechanic too, because it might be useful to pair Eden/Claude faster. I'm pretty sure you have until after Langobalt's castle in Chapter 5 to pair them (it's been too long), but it can't hurt to make sure they hook up earlier. You only need Eden to be promoted before the end of Chapter 5, so you should have plenty of time to make that happen. You'll also need to sell her the Rescue staff, but between Claude and Dew, that seems easy enough. Have fun berserking that last guy with the sword though, since you won't have the option of using the staff (it takes way too long to set up).

I don't think I want to do rescue glitching because it's probably be more interesting without it. Not sure if that counts as a major skip glitch or not, infinite moves across a fire emblem map seems pretty borderline to me, but then again stuff like the mine glitch in fe7 don't change much, but even so that's a little more low impact.

Thanks for the link. I'll get to watching that. At the very least, it will give me a bit of an idea of what's been done and what people have worked on, as well as how this entire thing flows.
