Who here is planning on playing this? I already own the 1.0 Collector's Edition and bought 5 months of game time in advance. Going to be adding more soon as I have some GIL. See what I did there?

*Taking myself out of the roster for Hyperion because I'm just not sure about it anymore. New players should start on a non-legacy server, imo. Don't know what RaneofSoTN is doing at all so removed him too. I'll update this post stating what server I decide on if anyone wants to join that one.

A bug that prevented people from doing their story quest solo instance all at the same time occured so the community formed lines and took turns! HOW AWESOME IS THIS??

Just a note on Kariohki/Roster's comment. The Backloggery group will in fact be playing on the Hyperion server (despite my complaints) and is being run by one of the site owners, Try4ce.

Hyperion used to be the lowest (consistantly) population server during the 1.0 days. My complaint is basically how that may effect the economy given that it's not a very popular server. However since it is a legacy server, it might end up being in a better position than many of the other servers. I can see both sides of the argument that was made about joining it, but in the end they decided to go with Hyperion.

Makes sense when talking about near the end of the game. My friend who played on there during the 1.0 days has told me the population was just fine before the calamity [haha I tried roleplaying a bit?]. A lot of people will be coming back and new faces will also be going to play with their friends on there. Do you know how many from the Backloggery group there are total? So then you're confirming that you're playing yes?

If I had to make a rough guess, between 20-30 people from BL. There were actively around 10-15 of us playing FFXI and I know all of those people plus a bunch of new people plan to join the BL linkshell on FFXIV. Also I can't say for sure if I will be playing when the servers finally go live. I kind of would like to concentrate more of my time towards speedrunning. So if I do play it will be very random and only a little.

I was going to say that you should contact Try4ce about more information but it looks like you already have. Cheesy

Too bad I missed the BL train in XI. I played mainly on Gilgamesh then Fenrir aaaand then back to Carbuncle (which merged with Gilgamesh). Radix played on Odin which I didn't even know until way after I quit playing.

In total there was something like 45 people on the BL Linkshell on Slyph. There was generally a regular 10-15 people on all the time during the summer the past few summers. Some of them are still on there a little, but most of the time it's just scheduled stuff to finish the WoTG missions. I think most of the core group stopped playing around March since we had all beaten the story missions for all the expansions up through WotG.

FFXIV though there are a ton of people interested. I'd suggest checking out the chat during their Monday night weekly stream if you are interested in finding out more about the community.

I've been playing since v1 and my legacy character will be on Sargatanas. Been quite a few friendly people that I don't remember meeting running around and had some good 1st dungeon runs and lowbie ifrit. I can't get my character on to a newer server for several months and already got some new guys joining me so I couldn't move anywhere anyways Tongue If anyone spots Lily Moon on Sargatanas feel free to say hi. I already get the occasional unknown person messaging me from my old lodestone blog stuff XD

Hyperion is a legacy server. You and your friends could xfer to it right now if you wanted to. Up to you though!

I've got some other friends on Sargatanas to manage as well and the one can't get online much at the moment it seems so getting him informed would be next to impossible now. He's the only reason I haven't jumped servers already :/

Once we get a full look at how the duty finder works we might be able to actively run dungeons from different servers Tongue So just keep me in mind once we have access to everything

Well that's true. Duty finder is cross-realm but I don't think you can specify people to play with from other servers. My guess is it's completely random aside from the people in your current party. But I guess wel'll see when they release more information about how it works.

It could be a possibility. Unfortunately there are two factors I am trying to take into account here.
1. Will I play it for longer than a month or two? I played 11 for a while but ultimately lich papers downed my butt and I quit there. Its kinda been a problem of mine with MMOs i buy. I rarely take them the mile. So I'm using tools and resources to look into "this"

2. I am currently in a crappy $$$$ situation. If you want more details, thats something we can discuss privately so ultimately if 1 doesn't seem like a go, i probably won't "invest" or if I can't get a solid handle and have a road to "victory" there is a chance I may forego this.

I am not committing to this until i place a pre-order or get a copy. Though... dont expect me to play from my PC. I'd be aiming for ps3 cause my PC needs horrible replacing first (and I wanna do it right). So #2 is screwing any good PC chances for me there.

I'm hype for XIV.  I only played very little of 1.0 and couldn't stand it then, but 2.0 is just so much better from what I've played of the beta.  It has me sold on the full version.  I've been playing since Beta 3 and will be on Hyperion along with the rest of the Backloggery group.

Yeah I stopped updating the first post because 1) only a small amount of people in this community seem to care about mmorpgs (I gathered that most people here probably dislike "online final fantasy" because they "don't exist to them") and 2) I decided I don't want to play in an already developed economy.

I thought this thread would just sink a few pages back guess I was wrong lol. I don't understand anyone, whom is new, that would want to play on a Legacy server. At first I was going to, but then I thought about it some more. To this moment I still can't decide what server to play on.

When I created this thread I had it in my mind that I would start a SDA LS or FC and we would all decide on one server to create on, but guess I was wrong!

Balmung is the unofficial RP server, usually a lot of good, decent people on those servers. I was actually just going to make a new character on Hyperion...since we're allowed X amount of characters on any server we want.

Most of my new guys on Sargatanas are just following me for free items since a bunch of legacies are running around with tons of items from leveling synthing. Also our economy was basically deleted and reset by Yoshida... I went from 5mil to 500k cause of the lower value of gil and the market was wiped in the transition
