So I decided to try and speed run Final Fantasy VII and upload a segmented run onto youtube. I've never done anything like this before, so I thought that I'd register here to see if anyone on these forums have any good advice for speedrunning FF7? Segmented speedrun is the right word for a non "in one sitting" playthrough right?
Thread title:
Learning to Stream
First thing that comes to mind? Practice, practice and more practice. Definitely want to take the time to figure what you feel is the most optimal route. How hard you can push things with what little you need.

Next you need to figure out how you intend to segment things. By this I mean, figure where you will want to start and stop. Roughly how many segments you would like to aim for. What is your goal for each segment? [EX. Segment #24. Focus on ensuring enemy X's treasure drop is the really rare ass drop that's 1/256 so you can save 30 minutes later trying to grab it from a cave out of the way]

Most important part? Have fun!
Deal with it!
You also wanna check Garland's Speedrun FAQ on Gamefaqs to get a general idea of what you want/need to do: http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/197341-final-fantasy-vii/faqs/31141
You can also watch Farringa's run on SDA: http://speeddemosarchive.com/FinalFantasy7.html
There are some Youtube Channels you can check out for tips and strategies but I think they are all mentioned in Garland's FAQ.
And here is the channel of Kynos(Name on SDA) who recently finished a segmented run which you wanna check out: http://www.youtube.com/user/NEroNeRoNerON

In the end you have to decide for yourself what you wanna do. And as Mr. Kelly R. Flewin above me said, HAVE FUN thumbsup
