Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
Hey.. 7 = teh ownage, kk?

That was btw my Bithday too, so it rocks by default ^^
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Nice stuff GarlandG.  I winced a little at Cloud getting stuck at the very beginning, but I know how much those stairs suck and the rest was good enough to make up for it.  I can't believe you're heading to Shinra at the 1:15 mark.  What's the goal for leaving Midgar, sub-1:45?
Right aorta

Considering it's feasible for a non-speed game to get out of Midgar at around two hours, I should hope so.

I will knock you all down!
Sub-1:45 is impossible, but I'm already 4:21 ahead of my record run in front of the HQ (where I got out of Midgar in 2:02:47), so sub-1:55 should be possible.

Shinra HQ takes ~40 mins?  Dang, in all my playthroughs (non-speedruns, admittedly), I always felt like I spent a hell of a lot more time in the rest of Midgar than there.  But I'm fairly sure you'd know the times for areas better than me  ;D.
Pleased to be the first to say on here now that its up grats Farringa.  Have not watched it yet, but have not been watching this topic, so had no idea this run was coming up.

Ill spare you the, "First game I played," "Been waiting for it since I found the site" stuff, and just say looking forward to watching it.  Only 2.03GB to go.
wait, how is there a ff7 run submitted.

i thought garland was doing it?

It actually is Midi, unlike the PS version which I believe is MP3,  but I can't  remember. I know it's not Midi for PS though.

Nah, it can't be MP3 on PSX. I'd say .wav or something.

Congrats, Farringa!

No, the PSX version is also MIDI, or close enough. The music is supposed to sound the same on the PC (it includes soundfonts to achieve this) - but often doesn't due to hardware limitations.

Just noticed somheting from the news page..

Quote:
Spanning 85 segments, with a run time of over eight and a half hours, and a normal quality DivX encode of roughly 2 gigabytes in size, Andrew's run has been listed as 7:41

It says 8 and and half hour. Isnt it more like seven and a half hour?
Cutscenes are probably not included in FFVII's ingame timer.

Yes and no.

They converted FF7 badly - it counts time during cutscenes, but... the wrong time.
100% runs=great to watch
At any rate, great job on the run! (yay for Saturday marathoning!)
wasn't it unnecessary to change the battle messages to fast, i don't think it speeds up the battles.

One winged angel is a .wav cause there's voice and a real orchestra. (the final boss song)
But still it sound better on psx, great work btw man, I'm feeling nostalgic, the boss at the end were so quick.
Congrats!

RUNTIME, it means how much the video is, not the run.

Run on an emulator, you can tell the music and the choir are not in sync. It appears that the music was a higher quality .midi format, but the choir was run on another audio channel.

The PC version of FFVII does not have a choir, no matter what quality the music is run at...
Maybe they are not in sych because of the emulators Wink

But still, it sound better than that on a real console, I know it, this song has more impact normally.
Oh and I just listened the lyrics with choirs and stuff and you're right they're are off, but I think it really comes from a slowdown of the guy pc's cause the music replace at times.
