Did some testing after 1st getting Gau in the WoB.

It seems that that game favors a particular formation within each group, making it very time consuming to Leap the monsters you want. While I could manipulate it by saving and reloading, it took way too long when I did it in a single setting. Even with only 10 Groups activated, I had to go through the cycle 5 times before I was able to get the Rages I wanted. In particular, Marshall was a serious pain in the ass.

I would like to mention though, that I was testing with very low lvled characters, no higher than lvl 9. So of course it did take longer to kill the mobs. I also used codes to skip a lot of random encounters, which limited what formations can appear. However, that plan was to see how fast I could get the important rages (Stray and Rhodox) under optimal conditions. So far though, the results are bad. I'm gonna test some more when I am able to come back with Edgar. Auto-Crossbow and some more lvls should make the process a lot faster.

The best Rages so far are:
Marhshall - Wind Slash
Rhodox - Snare
Stray Cat - Catstratch

I post again when I get a little farther.

Thanks for doing that testing, Rhonin. I've still been working on the final battles, so I haven't gone back to test anything with Gau yet. However, seeing your results is convincing me even more that Gau isn't the way to go. I will have run into a lot more than 10 groups by the time I get to the Veldt. If you're doing more testing, I should let you know that Sabin's scenario will be the second one I do (after Banon's), and his and Cyan's levels will probably be around 12. Also, does Wind Slash do more than Fire 2? Because I'm pretty sure Gau can do Fire 2 with Templar rage, and that's a required encounter at the Imperial Camp.

I've been having more troubles with the final battles (as usual). It seems like no matter how I set it up, it will still depend on quite a bit of luck to make it through. I tried doing it around 6 times today, and I made it all the way through once.

Does anyone know if there's a way to get rid of confuse besides getting hit? The remedy item doesn't work, I found out, but I'm not sure about the remedy spell (haven't tried it yet). Things could be a lot easier on the second Tier if there is another way to get rid of it.

Quick reply before I head out to the bar.

Don't forget, Marshall is a required encounter too, it's the boss you fight with Locke and the moogles. I'll check to see which is stronger RE: Wind Slash and Fire 2.

Since Nightshade is the main reason we have been discussing Gau, I checked out it's Group and found something interesting. It's group is number 37, and the rest of the formations in the group involve monsters from the rest of Owzer's House and Ebot Rock. As long as you only fight it and leave, theoretically you will 100% of the time fight it on the Veldt when you get to group 37. It will take some time for me to get to that part of the game, but I will test it out for sure.

If you don't have a lot of items, you could keep the first item slot empty and use it to unequip a weapon quickly to hit the confused character with a punch instead.

That's what I have been doing--hitting the confused person without a weapon equipped. That's not where the problem is. Sorry, I'll see if I can explain the problem.

The problem is that I need Setzer to survive until Tier 3, but Tier 2 does 10 hits as a final move. I can't give Setzer high M. Block, because then I'll miss when I try to Muddle/hit him. So my original plan on Tier 2 was to keep him on low HP and give Edgar (who has really high M. Block) the True Knight. However, this doesn't work because when I try to hit Setzer after Muddling him, Edgar blocks it. I thought about using a Remedy to remove Muddle, but it turns out that that doesn't work. So if there were another way to get rid of Muddle besides hitting them (or killing them...), that would be great. It's either that, or hope that Setzer doesn't die from 10 Hits..

Edit: I just looked at some FAQs and found that the spell Remedy should get rid of muddled. So now it looks like I'm going to have to work learning Remedy into my plan.

How about Sniper Sight? I didn't see if you listed your relic setup, but if you have a slot free, you can just buy it before Kefka's Tower if you don't get it at some other point.

If all else fails and Muddle/hit is too unreliable, there's still Palidor, which you can find in the text version of the Slot guide or the Glitches and Bugs guide (it's the old version of Joker Doom anywhere, abusing Palidor to get Gogo to Mimic 7-7-BAR versus enemies by using Setzer as a sacrifice).
"I like to watch"
It'd probably be tough to time, but wouldn't vanish protect against the 10 hits?
I remember that it should protect against 10 Hits. As far as I know, 10 Hits is just 10 consecutive physical attacks, so Vanish should work.

Hmm, didn't think about that. Does Sniper Sight work even if the person has really high M. Block? I suppose it should. I can get one easily on the Phantom Train--I actually did that on my practice run in case I needed it, but I think I ended up selling it. As for the relics, this is what I had for the final battles (as well as the order of the characters):

Edgar: White Cape, True Knight
Celes: White Cape, White Cape
Setzer: Running Shoes, Cherub Down
Mog: Running Shoes, Cherub Down
Gogo: none (haven't thought of anything useful yet)
Sabin: none (hopefully won't have to use him)

Edgar and Celes are the ones with high M. Block (IIRC, 111 and 119 respectively), and the Cherub Downs are to simplify the 1st Tier battle (since it does Quake at the end).

BTW, Master ZED, your slots guide is excellent! Thanks for writing it.

It seems to me that would work only once, since if Setzer dies he won't go on to the next tier. I think Muddle/Remedy spell should work (will test it tonight), but I'll keep that in mind.

I tried that, but it is very hard to do, because I'd have to give another command (to cast Vanish) in between casting Muddle and inputting Setzer's slots. It's possible, I'm sure, but can be very difficult, and I don't really want to take a chance like that on the final battle.

Quick update before bed.

I just made it to Thamasa and have been testing a bunch of stuff.

Templar Rage vs. Marshall Rage

Fire 2 is stronger than Wind Slash when focused on a single person. It is great for almost every boss you fight from Kefka in the snow field, all the way to the rail car boss. It was doing 900+ on Ultros.

Wind Slash is better when used on multiple enemies, b/c the damage does not get divided. Since you'll prob be running from or smoke bombing most random encounters, you should skip it.

Templar and Stray Cat are gonna your best bet after getting Gau the first time. I was able to run in to both pretty consistently on the Veldt. Damage wise, he has been the strongest, with Sabin coming 2nd.

I have a newfound respect for RPG speedrunners Grin
Back in the day, this game was way easy. However, running through most of the WoB at lvl 12 or less is quite a challenge.

P.S. - I can send you a save state of my progress so far if you're interested. Msg me with your email addy. Gau Gau!
Everything's better with Magitek
Sure, you can send me your save state. Just look in my profile for my email address.

You said that Gau was doing the most damage. I'm just wondering, what relics did you have equipped on people? Because Earrings, Hero Ring, Hyper Wrist, and Atlast Armlet can all affect the amount of damage they do.

I gave Sabin a White Cape for MBlock and 1 Earring since Aura Bolt tends to be pretty strong at lower lvls. Gau is wearing a Hero Ring (from the old mans house north of Kohlingen) and Running Shoes. I don't use Cyan or Edgar much at all. I need to finish the Esper Cave so I can get the Airship back. I'll send you a save afterwards.

Just so you know, I'm still working on this run. Smiley I've finally got my plan for the final battles figured out. I also discovered something pretty cool. Since 3rd Tier's Calmness attack is physical, a person with True Knight equipped can block it. So as long as I keep Setzer on low HP, I don't need to worry about him dying from it (as much, anyway).

I've also been reevaluating which spells I teach to which characters, and I think I found a way to avoid getting Mog in the WoB. Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to do another practice run through the game with my latest strategy to see if it will all work out.
Aku Soku Zan
Hey there. Check out the updated save state I sent you. I just tested it against the 3 Tiers and Final Kefka, it was a total cake walk!

Very few attacks could do any damage and Setzer was able to survive almost every attack with HP to spare. The only attacks that were a danger to the party were:

Quake (Tier 1 and it killed everyone. I would suggest learning Float)
S. Cross (Tier 2, 200 HP)
Flare Star (Tier 2, 200 HP)
Delta Attack (Tier 2, still worked, but is easily fixed and is only a single target spell)
Merton (Tier 3, will kill everyone, but he takes awhile to cast it though. Plenty of time to kill him)
Fallen One (Final Kefka, more annoyinig than anything, none of his other spells worked, so he couldnt finish us off)
Hyper Drive (Final Kefka, I waited a long time and he never used it, maybe it's cast when he loses a certain amount of HP. I would imagine it would wipe out the party.)

I still had to use Vanish on Setzer before Muddling him, as he still blocked Muddle even with only 30 ish MBlock.
Everything's better with Magitek
Thanks for sending me that save state. I've taken a look at it, and it's helpful. The main problem though is that I don't want to take the time to get Locke. I was planning to use Edgar, Celes, Setzer, and Sabin for the final battles. With that group, I will have only 2 people with higher than 128 M. Block. It looks like I can get Setzer's M. Block up to 91 and Sabin's up to 54. I'll have to check whether that's good enough.

As for the attacks that are a danger:

Quake: I will have someone learn Float (probably Setzer), so it's easily survivable.
S. Cross: It seems to miss those with high M. Block.
Flare Star: Also seems to miss those with high M. Block.
Delta Attack: I haven't had this happen in all the times that I've been practicing the final battle, so it doesn't seem that likely to happen. It's easily fixable, though.
Merton: This one I'm worried about. I've had it happen twice that the 3rd Tier cast it as soon as I started fighting it, and it never missed anyone (even those with high M. Block).
Fallen One: Kefka always does this as his first attack, but it shouldn't be a problem as long as I can take him out on my first round of turns.
Hyper Drive: This hits only one person, so no need to worry about it much.

So really, out of all of those, only Merton is a problem. Or course, the highest M. Block I had with anyone was 119, so maybe it will miss if you have higher than 128. I'll have to test it out. If not, maybe I can give someone a Flame Shield right before the 3rd Tier or something...

There were 2 reasons I used Locke. First and most important reason, by getting him, you can get the Ragnarock which boosts MBlock by 30 and is usable by more people than the Enhancer sword. Second, besides the 2 Force Armors you can find, and the 1 you win from the Storm Dragon, Locke can steal a 4th one from the Guardian in Kefka's Tower. As long as you have Mog, getting through the Phoenix cave doesn't take very long.

After playing with different gear combinations, you can get a maximum of 3 people above 128 Mblock.

Person 1 & 2 (Only Edgar, Celes, or Terra can equip the Enhancer. Edgar and Celes are the best 2)

Enhancer - 20 MBlock
Force Shield - 50 MBlock
Bard Hat or Mystery Veil - 10 MBlock
Force Armor - 30 MBlock
2x White Cape - 20 MBlock
Total - 130 MBlock

Person 3 (Locke or Terra, since Edgar and Celes have Force Shields)

Ragnarok - 30 MBlock
Aegis Shield - 40 MBlock
Bard Hat or Mystery Veil - 10 MBlock
Force Armor - 30 MBlock
2x White Cape - 20 MBlock
Total - 130 MBlock

Since you need Locke to get the Ragnarock anyways, it makes the most sense to use him. If you can do it without a 3rd person at 128, then skip him.

Yah, even at 128 MBlock, it will still wipe out everyone. Flame Shields will be your best bet.

He can't kill anyone that has 128 MBlock though. So if you want to, you can just heal Setzer.
Everything's better with Magitek
The final battles are definitely doable with only 2 people with 128 M. Block (it just might use more Fenix Downs), so I don't think I'll get Locke. I feel dumb, though; in an FAQ I found, it said that there is an Aegis Shield in Kefka's Tower, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know where it is?

BTW, I'm hoping to record this the week after next (once all my class projects are over with). That will be during my finals week, but I have only one final, so I should have time to do this. If people want, I'll post my plans for the entire run once I get the kinks worked out of it (mainly what to buy/sell and when).
Aku Soku Zan
The one in Kefka's tower is hidden really well. After taking control of group 3 for the first time, head south to the 2nd door. Inside, there's the machine area with the conveyor belts. Along the south wall is a hidden path that's tricky to get though and takes you to the chest with the Aegis Shield. I hope that helps. I would love to see your plan for the speedrun.

Everything's better with Magitek
I found the Aegis Shield; I don't think I'd ever found that one before. Thanks, Rhonin!

Below is my plan up through the 3 scenarios. The ones marked with (?) are things that I'm not sure are necessary. I would love to hear any comments or suggestions about it.

-Skip intro by letting it play before starting a new game.

Narshe
-Set battle mode to active, battle speed to 6, message speed to 1, and cursor to memory.
-Put Terra in back row.
-1st battle: Terra takes Vicks and Wedge out with Fire so she gets more experience. (Not the fastest way, I know, but it'll make Locke and Edgar join at higher levels.)
-Bio Blast on multiple enemies and Bolt Beam on single enemies.
-Need just one encounter in the mine.
-Whelk: Tek Missile x2 and Bolt Beam x2. Whelk goes into shell only once.
-Terra takes everything in the cave out with Fire. Need 3 encounters so she gets to level 5.
-3-party battle: Remove Mog's equipment. Take Locke's party to fight the boss. Avoid all other battles. (I'll be avoiding them using the same strategy as the TAS, which is a little faster than in the segmented run.)
-Put Locke in back row. (?)
-While walking to Figaro Castle, fight Leafers and Dark Winds, run from desert enemies.

Figaro Castle
-Do only what's required--don't buy or pick up anything.
-M-tek Armor: Autocrossbow x2.

Cave to South Figaro
-Put Edgar and Locke in back row.
-Equip Edgar and Locke optimum.
-Edgar takes out everything with Autocrossbow. Don't pick up any treasure.
-Run from battles on the overworld.

South Figaro
-Skip relic tutorial, buy 3 Spring Shoes and give one to Terra.
-Pick up Hyper Wrist and Running Shoes in the secret passage from the Rich Man's house and equip Hyper Wrist on Edgar.
-Take a chocobo to Mt. Kolts.

Mt. Kolts
-Pick up Atlast Armlet and give to Edgar in place of Running Shoes.
-Edgar takes out everything except Tuskers with Autocrossbow, and Terra casts Fire on Tuskers.
-At save point, Terra heals everyone and then use a Sleeping Bag on her.
-Equip everyone optimum and put Locke in front row and Cure if needed.
-Vargas: Autocrossbow, Fire, and Fight. Sabin does Pummel when he comes.
-Heal if needed and put Sabin and Locke in back row.
-Pick up Tent on way out.
-Run from or fight (?) battles on the overworld.

Returner's Hideout
-Pick up Fenix Down in room with Locke, then talk to Sabin and Edgar.
-Say no to Banon once, then pick up Genji Glove. Also get True Knight, Air Lancet, Tincture, and White Cape while in that room.
-Say no to Banon 2 more times.

Lete River
-Put Banon in back row.
-Autocrossbow and Fire should take everything out except Pterodons. Use Aurabolt and Fight with Banon when needed.
-Ultros: Fire, Aurabolt, and Autocrossbow. Banon heals if Terra has been hurt, otherwise fights.

Banon's Scenario
-Autocrossbow and Fire on river enemies.
-Autocrossbow takes out everything in Narshe caves.
-Where you follow the light, take a shorter route like in the TAS instead of following the entire route.
-Unequip Edgar's relics before going into Arvis's house.

Sabin's Scenario
-Equip Sabin optimum.
-Give Sabin Running Shoes and Spring Shoes.
-Don't get Shadow.
-Aurabolt lone Beakors, run from everything else.

Imperial Base
-Give Cyan Sprint Shoes and Hyper Wrist or Atlas Armlet at first chance.
-Cyan uses Retort against Leader.
-Give Sabin a Potion if needed.
-Replace Sabin's Running Shoes with Black Belt. (?)
-Fight Kefka, Aurabolt all other enemies.
-Fire Beam when in Magitek Armor.
-Put Cyan in back row and give him Hyper Wrist instead of Sprint Shoes.
-Run from any encounters on the way to the Phantom Forest.

Phantom Forest
-Run from all battles in the forest.
-Not sure whether I'll fight the random battles on the train or run from them. Run from all battles on the train.
-Pick up Earrings, Sniper Sight(?), and Fenix Down(?) on the train.
-Ghost Train: Fenix Down on the train and hope that Evil Toot doesn't mess it up.
-Run from any encounters on the way to Baren Falls.

Baren Falls
-Give Earrings and Running Shoes to Sabin, Hyper Wrist and Atlas Armlet to Cyan.
-Leave one piranha, and wait for 65 seconds. Then take it out and Rizopas will appear, take him out with Aurabolt x2 and Dispatch x1.

Veldt
-Run from encounters while walking to Mobliz, or fight if I can't run away (there are a few).
-Buy Dried Meat and sleep at the relic shop if needed.
-Walk to Crescent Mountain and fight enemies along the way until Gau shows up.
-Put Gau in back row.

Serpent Trench
-Run from battles with Aspik, Aurabolt/Dispatch everything else all battles.
-The TAS chooses the right path the first time, but I haven't checked which is faster. Choose right path first time (avoids one encounter), left path second time.

Nikeah
-Buy 41 31 Smoke Bombs.
-Unequip Gau.

Locke's Scenario
-Equip Locke optimum, give Locke Running Shoes and Sprint Shoes.
-Use the trick to walk through the guard and go backwards through the secret passage. (Skips the stealing clothes part.)
-Smoke Bomb all encounters.
-Pick up the 3 chests with money and the Earrings.
-Move Celes to back row.
-Pick up Thunder Rod in the cave.
-Heal from the recovery spring. (?)
-Tunnel Armor: Use Thunder Rod.

Everything's better with Magitek
Now here's the plan up to the end of the world:

Narshe
-First Second group is Sabin, Edgar, Celes, and Cyan; the other groups don't matter.
-Unequip Locke's relics. (?)
-Give Sabin 2 Earrings, Edgar Hyper Wrist and Running Shoes, and Celes Sprint Shoes.
-Put Celes in back row and equip her optimum.
-Avoid all battles (including Rider).
-Kefka: Aurabolt, Autocrossbow, Dispatch, and Runic (the slower but safer way).
-Choose Edgar, Sabin, Celes, and Cyan to go to Zozo.
-Put Sabin in lead with Edgar in second.
-Pick up Elixir in Arvis's clock. (?)
-Get the treasures in the house to the lower right.
-Autocrossbow or fight all enemies on the overworld.

Figaro Castle
-Buy Drill, Flash, and 3(?) Tents 11 Fenix Downs(?).
-Give Edgar 2 Earrings, Sabin Sprint Shoes, and Celes 1 Earrings.
-Flash should take out most enemies, use Aurabolt on others as well.
-Go to the house at the north and grab the Hero Ring.
-Replace one of Edgar's Earrings with Hero Ring and give those Earrings to Celes.
-Ride a chocobo to Zozo.

Zozo
-Smoke Bomb for HadesGigas, Flash/Ice everything else.
-Pick up a Tincture from a pot. (?)
-Just before Dadaluma, give Edgar Hero Ring and Hyper Wrist, Sabin 2 Earrings, Atlas Armlet and Hyper Wrist to Cyan, and 1 Earrings to Celes.
-Dadaluma: Aurabolt, Drill, Dispatch, and Ice. If I'm lucky, he'll die before calling for backup.
-Pick up Running Shoes and X-Potion in room with Terra.
-Pick up all 4 magicite. (The only one I don't need is Ramuh, but it forces you to get that one. :()
-Unequip Cyan before talking to Locke.
-Choose Edgar and Sabin to go to Vector.
-Give Celes Siren, Edgar Stray, Sabin Ramuh, and Locke Kirin.
-Fight all enemies on the way to Jidoor.

Jidoor
-Buy 31(?) Echo Screens. (Should be enough for the whole game unless I mess up Joker Doom a lot...)
-Fight all enemies on the way to the Opera House or take a chocobo from Jidoor.
-Equip everyone optimum, give Edgar Hero Ring and Earrings, Sabin 2 Earrings, Locke Genji Glove and Sprint Shoes; Celes's equipment doesn't matter.

Opera House
-Don't mess up the opera. Wink
-Try to avoid the rats, but I'll usually run into at least 2. I'm not sure whether I should try to avoid them all or not.
-Just before Ultros, replace Edgar's Earrings with Hyper Wrist, switch Locke's Sprint Shoes with Atlas Armlet and put him in the front row.
-Make sure Sabin is in the 3rd or 4th spot of the party.
-Ultros: Aurabolt, Dispatch, and Fight.
-Before heading to Vector, enter the airship to get healed and buy 4 5 Warp Stones.
-Smoke Bomb all encounters on the way to Vector.

Vector
-Put Sabin in the lead. (Needed to get the certain mine cart formations that give maximum MP)
-Buy 3 Bard's Hats.
-Give Edgar Hero Ring and Earrings.
-Use Flash and Ramuh if needed on enemies. Once Sabin runs out of MP, switch his Espers with Locke's and give him Sabin's Earrings.
-Celes needs to learn Mute and Edgar needs to learn Muddle here. I don't think it matters what else is learned.
-Before fighting the Espers, give Edgar Hyper Wrist instead of Earrings and give Sabin Hyper Wrist and Atlas Armlet.
-Ifrit & Shiva: Pummel, Drill, and Ice or Runic. Locke summons Kirin, and then I haven't found anything really useful for him to do after that.
-Pick up only Shiva and give Edgar Earrings again.
-Before No. 024, give Edgar Hyper Wrist, Sabin 2 Earrings, and Locke Sneak Ring.
-No. 024: Aurabolt (or Pummel if he does WallChange), Drill, Ice, and Steal. If I'm lucky, he'll die before doing WallChange.
-Before the mine cart, give Sabin Shoat and 2 Earrings, Edgar Phantom and Hero Ring and Hyperwrist, Locke Kirin and Genji Glove and Sprint Shoes.
-Move Locke to front row. (?)
-Flash red Mag Roaders, Aurabolt and Drill purple ones.
-No. 128: Locke summons Kirin then heals or attacks middle part, Edgar Drills middle part, and Sabin does Aurabolt or Firedance (most likely won't have Firedance, though).
-Smoke Bomb encounters on way out of Vector.
-Change battle mode to Wait and give someone Running Shoes.
-Cranes: Echo Screen/Joker Doom.
-When I get control on the airship, make a party of Terra, Setzer, Edgar, and Sabin.
-Unequip members not in the party, equip everyone optimum, give Setzer Stray, Edgar Phantom, and Sabin Shoat.
-Give Setzer and Sabin Running Shoes and Terra Sprint Shoes.
-Fly to Narshe.

Narshe
-Pick up Elixir in Elder's House. (?)
-Nothing else, really--I've decided not to get Mog here.

Cave to the Sealed Gate
-I need to get 19 16-17 MP here; Setzer will learn Muddle and Edgar will learn Vanish.
-Echo Screen/Joker Doom all encounters.
-Pick up Tempest to sell later.
-Use a Smoke Bomb when fighting Kefka.
-Fight extra battles on the way out if needed.
-Take a chocobo to Vector.

Vector
-Talk to all 24 soldiers and fight the ones that want to fight (Drill/Aurabolt takes them out), and pick up all treasure.
-Answer all the banquet questions correctly, but only need to ask 2 questions to get Charm Bangle.
-If I got only 16 MP in the Cave to the Sealed Gate, then Joker Doom Flash/Firedance the SP Forces; otherwise use a Smoke Bomb.
-Equip Terra and Locke optimum, remove their weapons, give Terra Running Shoes Gale hairpin and Sprint Shoes, Locke Running Shoes Back Guard and Charm Bangle.
-Enter the cafe and use a Warp Stone to exit more quickly.
-Smoke Bomb all encounters on the way to Albrook.

Albrook
-Go to Leo, go to the Inn, then go back to Leo.
-Smoke Bomb all encounters on the way to Thamasa.

Thamasa
-Unequip Shadow.
-Buy Mystery Veil, 10 9(?) Thunder Rods, and 5 6(?) Ice Rods. (I'm not sure on the numbers here--I'll probably have to sell a bunch of stuff to buy all this.)
-Try to avoid the flames, but I have a hard time doing this. Smoke Bomb any encounters (there's no reason to fight them).
-Pick up the Ice Rod and Fire Rod.
-Just before FlameEater, give Terra 2 Earrings, Strago Hero Ring and Earrings, and give Shiva to Locke.
-FlameEater: Terra and Strago each single target an Ice Rod on it, and Locke summons Shiva if that's not enough.
-Give Terra Gale Hairpin and Sprint Shoes again and Smoke Bomb all encounters on the overworld.

Cave (what's this place called, anyway?)
-Smoke Bomb all encounters and don't pick up any treasure.
-Ultros: Terra Morphs and she and Strago each use a Thunder Rod, then Relm Sketches.
-Kefka: Leo uses Shock 4 times.
-On the airship, make a party of Setzer, Edgar, and Sabin.
-Unequip nonparty members, equip everyone optimum, give Setzer Stray and Running Shoes, Edgar Kirin(?) and Sprint Shoes, Sabin Shoat and Running Shoes and Earrings.

IAF sequence
-Echo Screen/Joker Doom all battles, heal after every battle (Sabin should know Cure).
-Sabin should learn Doom right before fighting Ultros--then give him Unicorn and give Edgar Shoat.
-Ultros: Edgar casts Vanish, Sabin casts Doom.
-Air Force: Echo Screen/Joker Doom if it doesn't do Atomic Ray; if it does, then Echo Screen/Potion/Joker Doom.

Floating Continent
-Equip Charm Bangle, Gale Hairpin, Back Guard, both Running Shoes, and Sprint Shoes (doesn't matter who gets what).
-Smoke Bomb everything except Ninjas, and pray I don't run into Ninjas...(Really, I can Echo Screen/Joker Doom Ninjas, but it's not likely I'll have the chance unless I get a preemptive.)
-Atma Weapon: Vanish/Doom.
-When Celes shows up, give her Phantom and 2 Earrings.
-Celes uses Thunder Rods on Naughtys and Nerapa.
-Don't wait for Shadow. Sad

Everything's better with Magitek
And here's the WoR part:

Solitary Island
-Equip Celes optimum, give her Phantom, Charm Bangle, and sprint Shoes.
-Grab only quick fish and save Cid. Sad (I like it better when he dies...)
-Buy more Smoke Bombs at Albrook if needed (hopefully not).
-Get a chocobo from the stable north of Tzen and ride to Nikeah.

Nikeah
-Buy 4(?) White Capes and 2 Enhancers (might not have enough money for this, though).
-Talk to the thieves, then talk to Gerad.

South Figaro
-Talk to Gerad, then take a chocobo to the cave(?).

Cave and Figaro Castle
-Smoke Bomb all encounters.
-Pick up Gravity Rod and Crystal Helm.
-Before talking to Edgar, equip Running Shoes and Earrings, and make sure Celes is in the 3rd or 4th slot(?).
-Tentacles: Edgar uses Gravity Rod on lower left, then drills the upper Tentacles if he gets a chance. Celes uses Thunder Rod once (kills lower left), then Ice Rods after that.
***I think this is what was used in the segmented run--I'm not sure if there's a better way.
-Give Edgar Shoat, equip Charm Bangle, Gale Hairpin, Back Guard, and Sprint Shoes.
-Buy Echo Screens if needed (shouldn't, though).
-Smoke Bomb all encounters on the way to Kohlingen.

Kohlingen
-Get Setzer, give him Stray and Running Shoes.
-Smoke Bomb encounters to Daryl's Tomb.

Daryl's Tomb
-At some point before this, I need to make sure the last digit of my GP is okay--probably at Nikeah.
-Smoke Bomb all encounters here.
-After hitting the lower switch by the turtle, use a Warp Stone to get back to the beginning.
-Pick up Man Eater.
-Dullahan: Echo Screen/Joker Doom (probably won't have Vanish/Doom yet).

Maranda Desert
-Unequip Charm Bangle.
-Echo Screen/Joker Doom Drill as many Cactrots as needed to have Celes learn Vanish and Edgar learn Doom (hopefully only 1 or 2). If Edgar learns his before Celes, give him Unicorn.
-Fly to Jidoor and buy 2 Cherub Down.
-Fly to Narshe.
***If I get attacked by Doom Gaze at any time, Vanish/Doom.

Narshe
-Equip Charm Bangle again.
-Get Mog, then use a Warp Stone to leave.
-Equip Mog with Moogle Charm, then enter Narshe again.
-Ice Dragon: Vanish/Doom. (to get a Force Shield)
-Use another Warp Stone to leave.
-Fly to Fanatics' Tower.

Fanatics' Tower
-Get the Genji Shield and Force Armor.
-Fly to Tzen.

Tzen
-Get Sabin.
-Fly to Triangle Island.
-On the airship, switch to a party of only Mog.

Triangle Island
-Unequip Moogle Charm and get Engulfed by Zone Eater.
-Equip Moogle Charm and Sprint Shoes.
-Pick up Zephyr Cape(?) and get Gogo.
-Use a Warp Stone to leave.
-Fly to Kefka's Tower.

Kefka's Tower
-Parties are:
1. Edgar & Gogo
2. Celes & Sabin
3. Setzer & Mog
-Pick up Aegis Shield, Force Armor, and Force Shield.
-Parties 1 & 2 equip Charm Bangle, Gale Hairpin, Back Guard, and Sprint Shoes, as well as equipment that gives highest M. Block.
-Party 3 equips Moogle Charm and Sprint Shoes.
-Give Gogo the Slot, Magic, and Item abilities.
-Summon Phantom at first chance with parties 1 and 2.
-When attacked by a GtBehemoth or Land Worm, Vanish/Doom it. Use Smoke Bomb on everything else.
-Heal whenever someone gets hurt.
-Get into a battle right before entering the rooms where you can get attacked by Outsiders (to minimize the chances of getting attacked by them).
-I still need to find the fastest way to have the groups go through here.
-Before fighting bosses, always equip highest M. Block equipment (Enhancer/Man Eater, Force/Aegis Shield, Bard's Hat/Mystery Veil, Force Armor, White/Zephyr Cape).
-Inferno: Echo Screen/Joker Doom if he doesn't do Atomic Ray, Echo Screen/Potion/Joker Doom if he does.
-Guardian: Echo Screen/Joker Doom.
-Poltergeist: Echo Screen/Joker Doom.
-Goddess: Celes casts Vanish, Sabin casts Doom. Give Sabin Unicorn before this so hopefully he'll learn Remedy.
-Doom: Vanish/Doom. Give Edgar Unicorn before this so he'll hopefully learn Remedy.
-Each group Parties 1 and 2 use a Tent.

Final Battles
-Equip as follows:
Celes: Enhancer, Force Shield, Mystery Veil Bard's Hat, Force Armor, White Cape, True Knight (129 M. Block)
Edgar: Enhancer, Force Shield, Bard's Hat, Force Armor, White Cape x2 (131 M. Block)
Setzer: weapon doesn't matter, Genji Shield, Bard's Hat, armor doesn't matter, Running Shoes, Cherub Down (31 M. Block)
no equipment, Cherub Down, Running Shoes
Gogo: Man Eater, Aegis Shield, Bard's Hat, armor doesn't matter, White Cape x2 (86 M. Block)
no equipment, Cherub Down, Running Shoes
Sabin & Mog: doesn't matter (hopefully won't have to use them)

Tier 1: Gogo or Edgar casts Break on lower left part. Kill and revive Setzer and Gogo and keep them on low HP. Edgar and Celes will block everything. Celes casts Vanish on Setzer, Gogo/Edgar casts Muddle on him, Gogo/Edgar casts Remedy on him, and Setzer does 7-7-Bar Joker Doom.

Tier 2: Celes casts Mute on the far left part, and Edgar/Gogo casts Doom on upper part. Setzer and Gogo must be on low HP before doing Joker Doom. Use same Joker Doom strategy, and everyone should survive 10 Hits (Celes will protect Setzer and Goog).

Tier 3: Gogo Mimics Joker Doom 2 times. Celes should block Calmness on Setzer and Gogo.

Kefka: Gogo Mimics Joker Doom 2 times.

Make sure you have the hang of Joker Doom. A bit difficult to pull off consistently imo.
Everything's better with Magitek
Yeah, Joker Doom will probably be the hardest thing in this run. I've calculated that I'll be doing it about 30 times (4 of which will be 7-7-Bar). Most of those will be random encounters, which won't be so bad if I mess up (I can just Smoke Bomb the encounter and try again). I need to get a backup plan for bosses where I use Joker Doom just in case I mess up (like I have for Air Force and Inferno in case they mess it up). Guess I've gotta study the Slots guide some more... But just so you know, I can get Joker Doom at least 90% of the time right now.
If all else fails, Psycho Cyan it =D

Have you tried Mimicking it during the final battle? If Joker Doom doesn't work, it's only because it didn't have any targets that one turn; it will default to its original scheme and strike all enemies on the next Mimic.
