If you've gotten the other summons, figuring out how to get Mindflayer shouldn't be too hard. I don't know if they are called Goblins or Imps in the US version, I only have the JP one. What does Rydia's replacement say?

Who you get to replace Rydia will change the line, but it doesn't match Edge's line at all. I'll take a rough example, using Yang instead of Edge. This may not be the exact line, but it's close enough.

*Yang moves next to Edge*
Yang: "I still need more training."
Edge: "Nope! I have all the goodness in the heart I need!"

Everybody is along those lines. Rydia was talking about Edge and everybody else talks about themselves and followed by Edge's Nope!, it doesn't make sense.

BTW, I've beaten all 9 doors in the Lunar Ruins as well as the final boss...the mysterious...you-know-who. ^^

Resolution for the issue: Don't satisfy the above four conditions. Alternatively, after using the formation command (as described in #3) either immediately save or view the monster bestiary before using the item screen, or exit out of the menu system before using the item screen. If you do any of these the problem will not happen to you. We promise to be more careful in the future, sorry, if you have any questions, yadda yadda.

I looked this up in a FAQ to figure out what you meant, and the answer is pretty funny to an American FF2 US player.

I commend you, noble Guest, for being able to read slashdot message boards without wanting to gouge your eyes out. Although I must say, I will gladly trust anyone with a nick of Myria over something like Sephiroth any day of the week.

That bug sounds like something that could actually happen. I can't believe it's gotten to this point, but I long for the days when lazy developers would just dump the ROM and an emulator for a rerelease. Ok, not really.
