Amazing. Not only is there, now, another site that makes me feel overwhelmingly inadequate, but those videos are metaphysically unbelievable. Well, I haven't finished downloading them all, yet, but still.

Sorry to spam, but these FF topics are scary. Right now they both have the same number of pages, and are one character away from each other to... being each other. One has more replies while the other one has more views. Weird @_@; EDIT: And are right beside each other at the moment. DEAR GOD!

It has to do with the age of the threads. When I first came here this thread already had like 3000 or 4000 views. The FFVIII topic has a lot of crap from me so it has more replies (BTW this post will put them next to each other again, lol).

I'm really interessted in doing a ff7 run.
Cause I see myself as one of the sickest FF7-gamers on this planet ;P

Now my question: What time should the game be completed with... I read through the topic but didn't find the post...

I have some tactics in mind that I want to use in this run...

There's no time the game SHOULD be dnoe in. The limit is technically 7 hours, but because this is a(n) (over)popular game, Radix will probably allow some slack with that. How much exactly, I don't know.

If you dig back in the topic a bit, the last recorded time was 8:39 at the Bottom of Northern Crater. However, the people who have done runs said that under 9 hours is definitely possible.

Aim for sub - 9 hours.

I really love this game so I'll try my best.

Atm I just rush through the game and check if getting BETA at the beginning helps speeding later fights up that much, that the effort for getting it is worth it...

Didn't the guy who got the <9 hours time say that he was going to do a speedrun of it come this February...which is about two days away.

The guy who said that he was going to do a run this February was me, but unfortunately, the run has been postponed. The new date is April 25th.

Me and another guy from GameFAQs were originally going to start this run on February 16th, but he has to go away for a couple of months and I decided to wait for him. It's much more fun to do a speed run together with other people.

Don't bother recording in hopes of getting it here, it won't be accepted. Other than that I can't really give any advice that isn't obvious...

GarlandG, do you really need to wait for that guy to start? You know there are a lot of people that could help also, myself included.

That's correct. This run was planned a long time ago (summer 2004, after the last run) and starting without him would ruin all the fun.

Oh man, I would so badly want to join in on this, it'd be fun to know you have someone to compete with. But I'm in my anime/ssbm phase right now and haven't touched any of my runs in a while...

But if you both plan well, you'll come up with the same/similar strategies and it'll basically be a battle of "luck" (I don't like that word...).

Wow. I'm surprised to see my old topic up and running. Anyways, I've been meaning to tell you guys that I had gotten my times down really low (somewhere around 6:50, but might be way off. This was a long time back) and was about to do a final run when my disc three broke. I'm out since I can't find a copy anywhere.
EDIT: I just read through the last few pages and found out I am WAY off. It was probably closer to 8-8:30hrs. And anyways, even if I did find another copy, I'm way out of practice. Maybe in the future after I practice a bit more and find a copy.

Don't read too much into what I said. I wasn't exactly making fun of him or trying to convince people not to think this way, and I even resisted putting in a joke link to plotdemosarchive.com.

It's just that

1) If someone said that about a game I was working on, I wouldn't be able to get the idea out of my head that all my hard work would be wasted on people like him.
2) It'd mean I'm working on the wrong game most likely, with more plot than gameplay. Like the other game he said this, Xenogears.

Sorry to interrupt. I don't even like FF7. =/ I only clicked on this thread because I had a friend say that he was considering FF7 and that he checked the thread, and I wanted to see if he posted anything. I should have figured he wouldn't, since most people just lurk.

Edit: PS, there's always Advent Children! I've heard "it's just like a FF game, except it's better since you don't have to do all that tedious playing to get the plot!" And it has all the FF7 characters you know and love.
