Finally done with my first run this year. Shinryu was much easier than Neo-Exdeath, quite humorous. Don't think I'll be doing another, I have other stuff that needs doing.

Today's the last day. Thought I'd recap my own experience with this:

I purchased an SFC cart for this and received it the first day of the fiesta. Thanks to the fiesta and the SFC cart, as well as a bit of online resources, I learned a decent deal of japanese (at least enough to distinguish items and make progress through the game). If I got anything out of the fiesta, it has been that.

As far as in-fiesta goes, I started and completed two runs:

(1) Blue Mage, Summoner, Ninja, Lancer - Normal run. All of these were great jobs to have at all parts. Defeated Neo Exdeath and Shinryu. Could not defeat Omega. Didn't have much that I knew of to make any sort of dent in Omega.
(2) Black Mage, Time Mage, Berserker, Dancer - Randomized run. I didn't expect Time Mage and Dancer to be so OP. Defeated Neo Exdeath and Shinryu. Could not defeat Omega. I was almost level 50 with all 4 characters, and Encircle was being a butt.

I definitely look forward to next year. Grats to all who finished!

Obscure games ftw

I finished my 2nd run even after my laptop died, only getting things into a workable state 2 hours ago. I ended up beating Neo Exdeath with Thief/Summoner/Ninja/Dancer at party level 29/28/29/29. Almagest was a party wipe, so I dodged it by spamming Pinwheels. Then Grand Cross never landed, so it was a perfect fight. No time to take down Shinryu or Omega during the Fiesta proper...but I do want to finish all the sidequests with this team.

I also enjoyed my fiesta experience with my party of Monk/Red Mage/Ninja/Samurai. It's a shame I didn't put together a strategy to defeat Omega (if there is one I could've used) but I am happy that I beat Shinryu on the first try by Berserking him and throwing virtually my entire weapon inventory at him.

I have a blast with the fiesta, even though I'm pretty sure no strat would have gotten me an Omega kill.

Granted, I did take my party into the GBA bonus dungeon, and managed to make it all the way to Enuo (and even got him to phase 2!). The only exception I made in here was due to having to !Catch a Behemoth to give to an NPC in exchange for them opening a locked door. I was only changed for that one fight though, and was willing to make the exception since there was no other way to progress.
I was actually really surprised I managed to get as far as I did in there given my party (Knight/Thief/Ranger/Summoner), but it was really fun trying to find ways to take down the super bosses with my very limited skillset. I'll probably aim to do as much of the bonus dungeon as I can next year as well, just for the challenge.

All the things

I had a pretty good experience with the Fiesta. Finished with Monk/Summoner/Ninja/Chemist all at or just below 33. Chemist allowed me to cheese Omega and Shinryuu as well, but I fought all Exdeath phases. Next summer I think I'll try Randomized or No 750.
