What is your favorite video game MIDI? If possible, include a URL to it.

Mine would have to be the Deku Palace. I especially like the following remixed version:

I remember that site (and the deku palace remix, it IS awesome). I haven't been there in a while though... I'll probably check it out later, as for a favorite I'd probably go with the deku palace remix Tongue
I said it before, and I'll say it again...

MEGA MAN 2! Someone provided me with a link to them awhile back, I just forgot which thread it was in.

So again... MEGA MAN 2.

Don't have a link, but my favorite is the music at the end of 343 Guilty Spark (level in Halo: CE for those of you who are weird <_<). One of the reasons I fell in love with the game, that music. So wicked 0_O;

www.vgmix.com is a good site too, it's currently down though.

You got a deletion wish?
I used to switch various MIDIs out on Doom.  Ex: Title music replaced with Mario World theme, most episode 1 music replaced with various Mega Man 3 stage themes (Top on 1, Spark on 3, Magnet on 4, Gemini on 5, you get the picture)  Insult to injury: Level complete replaced with Eat the Meat from Final Fantasy Legend II (victory theme, couldn't find the usual victory theme from the FF series)

Ooh ooh, music from Unreal Tournament is badass as well =O!

I'd say Doom music is wicked too, but my version of Doom has annoying squeaky music that I can't get rid of. PR Boom music is wicked though ;o

I think that's just all the SSBM music put together (or most of it)

Most of it, maybe, but if you listen for long enough it has Banjo-Kazooie theme in it (if you sit on the N64 logo thing for long enough in the game to hear Banjo and friends play the music).
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
Definitely Tal Tal Heights from Link's Awakening.  Best music ever.

The Athletic Rag is nice, too, though

And Brinstar always sounds good

Not necessarily a midi, but this is BY far my favorite mix of any video game song.

THRASH THE PANK for the ultimate win!  Snappleman is god!!

For DKC lovers it's a must!  In fact the whole Kong In Concert CD is the best video game remix I have ever heard.

Anyone like this song?  Even the original beat (boss Krool Battle was great)!

Grin  Got this one too.  I'm looking for a good MP3 mix of Tal Tal heights.   I bet you'd like Thrash the Plank

OMG, DKC! I totally forgot about that music. My god, I love the music in those games. I wish I had an SNES and DKC2. I'd sit in that one level for hours.... Can't even remember what it's called, but damn the music is wicked.

you sir, are in luck.  banjownage.

i have a problem responding to this thread because i can't think of a single time where a midi sounds better than the chiptune.

of course i can't get spcs to work normally, so i'd kill for mp3s from rudra no hihou and castlevania iv, but anyway...

Spc's don't work? what are you using to play them?
http://www.bannister.org/software/ao.htm <--best video game music player eva! You shouldn't have much of a problem.

Anyways I've always loved the music from Final Fantasy, I really like "Fisherman's Horizon" from FF8, the Midi version doesn't sound half bad either.

Wow, it sounds so familiar!  I think this is the one of the few mp3s I lost a while back when I had a faulty HD!  Thanks man! Smiley

Has anyone played Jet Force Gemini?  They have some really good tunes in that game.  The Mine level comes to mind, in particular, although I haven't played the game for 7 odd years...

OCR doesn't have any tunes...  I remember getting some from Napster back in 2000, man that was a while ago.

You might like this!  I'm not sure if the torrent is still seeding, but you can download everything manually (the mp3 is VBR, so sound quality is great).

Oh, I've got a present for all you Mario Fans:

https://webfiles.berkeley.edu/DK64_MASTER/shared/MarioTribute.mid

35 minutes of pure mario, all in a small 500kb package.

If anyone knows where this came from, please tell me.  I think I got it from a random post on a gamefaqs board...

Can you name all the tunes you hear?

First is the original tune, opening from SMW mixed with "Do the Mario".
I think the 2nd tune is Tall Tall Mountain, 3rd one is Trihex's favorite, YI:2...
4th is SMW fortress/castle
5th... Oh the nostalgia: GHOSTSHIP!!!
6th... I can't quite put my finger on it.  Sounds like Mario Kart Donut Plains...
7th,....nth,
After a while you get to carribean SMB2 and a nice Rico Harbor from SMS.

I'm stopping there, I won't ruin the surprise.

Edit#10 I guess:

You might like this (stolen from Xkeeper's site):

https://webfiles.berkeley.edu/DK64_MASTER/shared/NINTENDO.mid

Contains all the classics, plus great stuff from Banjo Kazooie, Kirby, and good ALTTP tune.

I'll post more when I get FTP access to my home computer...

Great beat to hear.  Gotta look for a good MP3 mix of it (I got the orignal MP3 somewhere).
Jet Force Gemini (and Banjo Tooie, and Conker's BFD). Never really liked actual MIDIs that much because I've never had anything that plays them back the same way the console does. It's off-putting.

I'll give another vote for Tal Tal Heights. And second Fisherman's Horizon. I tend to like the closing credits music in Zeldas (and others), but I'm not entirely sure whether that's partly due to a mental association with winning the game.

i have yet to understand why people ignored my post and still download crappy midis instead of the real thing.

Midi's take up ALOT less space then MP3's, and pretty much download instantly even on horrible connections (like mine). Midi's are alot easier to edit then MP3's, so people who don't know how to play insturments can still make decent sounding music files. And lastly, Midi isn't illegal.
