Hello! I am new to the site, I didn't know where this type if forum would go into so I decided I'd put it here. I was curious about a Fallout 3 Speedrun as a Baby? Would it be something to looks further into as a full fledged speedrun if possible. I'd gladly put hours into routing and practicing it, if it's even worth it. Thank you!

Is this even possible? If so I'd definitely like to see it. Also not calling it "baby%" would be a crime.

Seconded.

It's possible, I've made it as far as glitching into the citadel, but you are really handicapped when you're a baby in the Wastelands.
Sound pretty fun. I think there are many glitches when playing as a baby. Do enemies even attack you?
Isn't the baby movement very slow ?

Unfortunately you do get attack. If you go into 3rd Person, your Character model is tiny like the game can't really understand what is going on but it's allowing it because you entered the last vault sequence I believe and you still giggle. You have to modify current glitches, since both your speed and jump distance and height are toned down greatly. You can't see the Pip-Boy, but it's useable just have to kinda guess and or count. The game progresses much slower but it is interesting consider the character model is the height of a Chihuahua.
Are there any glitches that are baby-only that save some time, or is the run basically a really slow version of the regular run minus some glitches that save time?

I'm not really good at discovering glitches. I'm sure there might be, but at the moment for me at least it's just a very slow modified run. I've messed with one of the citadel glitches, but you're so small that you have to use the item "jump" glitch, more like pushing up invisible barriers to get the height needed.
Is your hitbox actually smaller as a baby? That might allow for some glitches.

Not that I know of.. I've seen graphical glitches but not much else, I haven't really explored the world since its so difficult to glitch out the vault. It makes me think this would be a good segmented run, unless there was a very consistent method of glitching the dad. If you want, there is a video on YouTube demonstrating how to do the glitch, it works for me and I'm on a 360.
Do note that this wouldn't be accepted as a valid category at SDA. That being said this sounds amazing and you should do it anyway.

I don't know the rules about these things yet. Could you explain why this wouldn't be accepted? Smiley

It wouldn't be accepted because apparently the only benefit of playing as a baby is more fun, and that's not really what it takes for a speedrun to get accepted here (although most naturally turn out to bring fun to the viewer). And I don't think it would get an own category, so it would have to be faster than the current run with help of some tricks that only work as a baby.

SDA just generally doesn't accept runs that complete arbitrary goals. The three main accepted categories are plain any%, 100%, and low%, and then there can be more categories based on stuff like version or platform. Some games do get game-specific categories but it usually has to be a non-arbitrary goal that makes sense and has a clear ruleset (though I can't think of any off the top of my head).
I think the glitch is cool, but after learning that it slows the game and doesn't provide any other benefit, I don't think I'd be as excited to watch it.

I'd definitely watch it.  It's like Zelda without the sword ... or something.  Some bastard out there could argue it's a low % run, but that bastard isn't me.  Lawl@the thought.  No chance SDA would accept it, but who cares?

I say do it and post it here asap.  I'd show every one of my friends, so seems worth it to me.

A WR or a Catagory isn't really a big deal to me at least now. But I mean, even if it slows gameplay down, and if I were to somehow manage to find new glitches. I'd enjoy doing either a segmented run or a single segment. Just to say, I've done it and that I had the balls to walk around as a Baby in the Wastelands. Like Insipid said, it's more of a watch, it might get boring at times but the novelty of such a run existing, would maybe baffle people? It seems interesting cause I got a whole new view of the Wastelands. Plus, I can say I speedran Fallout 3 as a baby!
Too bad you never get that third-person view, right ? Would be even more fun seeing you crawling around.
용산
Actually, you do get third person. You just have to activate it.
