I did three runs this weekend: 1:37:20, 1:36:13 and 1:36:47. The second run was deathless.

Still no new PB. I checked WR runs, saw only 2 really small improvements to do. I guess it's just a matter of having good RNG mostly, and good execution too (staying focused :o)
So, I'll do a Borderlands 1 run every night (if possible) until the last cut because I would be really ashamed to not get a new PB until that time.
I don't know if that "no improvements in 3 months" is a problem for ESA or not, but it is for me so I'm mostly doing this for myself ^^' (I just hate the fact that my PB wasn't improved in a such long time even if I can beat it and by at least 10 minutes)

This is not a new PB by far (I'm ~13min behind my Personal Best, and about 27min slower than World Record)

So why this video? Well, I kept blaming "bad luck" since few months for my lack of new PB showing real improvement.
So this video is just the PERFECT EXAMPLE of bad luck. Honestly, this run is not "flawless", but really close to it. The ONLY huge mistake I've got is the fact that I died against McCloud, but in a "normal run", McCloud should die just of Corrosive damage. I was unlucky twice that McCloud didn't spread the corrosive and took insane damage (which is exactly what happened on the 3rd attempt)
There's few really minor mistakes and/or improvements to do. But so far, this run is my best execution since forever.
Why isn't it a new PB? Just because of RNG:
- Lost about 2min at the beggining for getting the grenades mods I need
- Lost about 5min on the Orbit Achieved glitch (from now, there's no consistent way to do it. Even the world record holder lost 4min on his last race on this glitch so ...)
- Lost about 3min in the farm (no "great" shotgun)
- Lost about 1min on Sledge because no great shotgun means slower fight (and I also got trolled by ennemies, it's pretty amazing that I survived)
- Lost about 3-4min in total on Skagzillas kills because my Sledge Shotgun wasn't the best one, and I've got "average" number of long roars
- Lost 1min on Mad Mel because I just got one of the best trolls in my life (Mad Mel is a good troll with the cars that can instakill you, but this death was truly new and amazing)
- I managed to get goods "Crazy Earls" quests, but a Double Anarchy could save 1min here.
- Lost about 1-2min on Rakk Hive (already said that I have a bad Sledge Shotgun right? Also, the fact that I haven't died is REALLY insane this time)
- Lost about 2min getting the Bouncing Betty grenade mod that you'll always get on the way normally.
- Lost 5min on McCloud (already explained why before, it's still bad RNG but could have been less than 5min)
- Lost about 1min at the end because I died on my way to the Vault. Well, everyone's strat here is just "Phasewalk to the Vault". You'll almost never die on the way, it's pretty rare to die here. But I guess I don't have to explain how lucky I am.

So yeah, even if it's not a new PB, I'm more proud of this run than my PB just for the fact that my PB has many mistakes because I was nervous and it's not just RNG's fault on my PB. This run has a far better execution than my actual PB.

Also, if you ever wanna ask "How fucking unlucky am I?", just remind that I'm trying to beat my PB since more than 3 months now, then guess Cheesy

Practised a few Levels, found a new route through two (Piraeus and Spanish Countryside), circumventing two of the stupidest enemies in the game, new hard mode PB 41:15, that can still be improved a lot, by not taking damage in stupid places and/or dying in stupid places. Also, this run was to clear my brain from something that had happened between me and a girl, so I think I can play this game fast drunk and/or sleepy in hard mode now. I no longer need a perfect button masher like I did in ESA bonus stream (but still thanks a million, Mysty <3). ^^
Also, my arm hurts from button mashing.

I focused on hard mode recently and I've got a decent time of 41m38 RTA (40m34 IGT). I just need to pay more attention to avoid stupid reloads
I also tried Mental mode (it's hard mode with blinking ennemies, it's harder and funnier), and my PB is now 43m02 RTA (41m40 IGT). I think it can be a good donation incentive
I continue my training anyway !

I have practiced the new strategies and tricks that the other 2 persons have found who have completed a run of this game.

Read the description of the run in the youtube video for notes about the run like where I perform some tricks and out of bounds glitches.

The other 2 persons who did a run of this game, used "ingame timing" for their time, which is basically loading screens and cutscenes times removed from the total time. The "ingame time" record is 39:41 at the moment. My run with ingame timing is around 5-20 seconds slower than the record.

Info about the run:
Almost everything went pretty well overall, expect for a really unfortunate mistake in the 9th level, where I failed to take out an enemy with the cannon, which kills the enemy with 1 hit. I ended up wasting the ammo for that weapon and I had to kill the enemy using a slower method, which ended up losing around 40-60 seconds overall.

Tricks:

Mutilator sling: This trick is useful only in 3-4 different levels if used correctly. Theres a weapon in the game called "Sirian mutilator", which is a bracelet type of tool, which allows the player to "lasso hook" enemy / multiple enemies using some sort of beam and after a short time it will play a sound indicating its done "charging" and when letting go off of the fire key, the enemies will get gibbed. Using the weapon against large / powerful enemies will cause the enemy to tug you towards it to make it less easy to gib them using this weapon. This trick uses this to its advantage. When letting go off of the fire key while getting tugged towards the enemy, quickly changing your direction and starting to jump, you can keep your speed if you keep jumping and dont change the direction, as long as the ground is decently "flat" enough. See my pb video at part 22:30 where I use this trick to go out of bounds and skip around 99% of the whole level.

Rocket boost: This is a trick I found recently while practicing one of the levels. The trick in short: while shooting a rocket at a wall using the rocket launcher from a specific angle, its possible to get launched up in the air / on top of the wall you were doing the glitch against. For some reason this trick depends on the framerate of the game. If the framerate is too low, the glitch might not work at all. If the framerate is too high, the glitch can be hard to get to work at all. See the part 26:12 in my run where I do the first rocket boost of the run. Explained more in depth in the description of the pb video. Theres a chance that I might not be able to use this glitch in the marathon, since it needs those rather specific framerates to be performed but its ok, the game still can be speedrunned without the use of this glitch.

Rapid sledgehammer glitch: With this glitch the sledgehammer can be swung much faster than it normally can. The glitch is triggered by first sprinting with the sledgehammer (holding shift and moving forward makes the player sprint), then switching to another weapon, stopping the sprinting for a very short moment and then continuing to sprint with the sledgehammer. The game thinks it should be switching to another weapon, it ends the sledgehammer swing animation sooner than its supposed to end continuously until sprinting is stopped. The only part of the run where I use the glitch is at 9:21.

Sandwhale glitch: Using this glitch its possible to go out of bounds in some of the desert areas of the game, where the sandwhale can appear. Starting from the 6th level, there is large deserts surrounding the playable areas. In the deserts, the sandwhale appears. If the player runs into the desert, the sandwhale appears and tries to reach the player. If the player doesnt get out from the desert in time, the sandwhale will eat the player. But its possible to "fool" the sandwhale in a number of ways. 1 way is to run along some specific walls surrounding the levels. The sandwhale cant reach the players in some areas where there are walls surrounding the levels. If looking at a specific spot in the desert and going in the desert allows the sandwhale to spawn in a further away distance, giving the player more time to run across some parts of the desert, to reach a "safe area" again. You can see 1 example of this at 22:33 in the run, where I look at a specific area in the desert, making the sandwhale spawn further away, giving me enough time to run to the safe area that the sandwhale cant reach.

I have not really had the time to play until now and I have gone from 2:19:36 to 2:16:06 in the 100% category the last few weeks. I have not done any more runs in any%, but I will probably do some in a couple of weeks. There is a certain glitch I need to practice (T.T stomp), it was terrible in my PB.

Edit: I got a 2:15:46 in 100% this weekend, but I have more to give.
I have actually done a couple of any% runs too and got myself a new PB, 52:10. Okay run with pretty bad RNG.

Improved my PB by another ~30 seconds. Slowly getting down there. I need to practice on the third level, and learn how i can get through the autoscrollers better. Besides that, there's not much to complain (besides RNG maybe)

Have been improving my PB bit by bit since the last post. New strats have been discovered that make it possible to skip one of the bosses in the game (Abstract daddy)



I'm getting very close to the target time I want. Dark Souls II

There are two options for this now. 1.00 patch or current patch. 1.00 has a major skip that saves ~20 minutes of gameplay, it is also the more challenging run. Current patch pure any% is honestly a very boring run, the fastest way to complete the game is by killing a certain boss 4 times in a row to accumulate enough souls to be able to open Shrine of Winter door. The more interesting run for current patch is the "intended" way of getting the four old souls to open the door, but it's quite a bit slower than getting the million souls. The estimate for 1.00 could be as low as 1:20:00, for current patch I don't even want to do the any% run since it really is boring to play and especially to watch. The old souls route estimate would probably be around 2:10:00.

My PB for 1.00 is currently at 1:08:23 with tons of time to save, but the route has a bunch of places where things can go wrong quite fast and recovery strats can take quite a bit of time to perform. WR is at 1:04:54, which will surely be beat very soon by either me or some other runner.
For current patch the any% run my PB is 1:26:20 but like I said I wouldn't even want to do this run since killing a single boss four times  it's not very exciting. WR is 1:19:58. My old souls route PB is 1:43:59 which is also the best known time for it.

Been getting all the skips fairly consistently, people are loving it in my streamchat.

Got a new PB last week 11:39. This puts me close to the WR again, though the game has so much RNG. I've been getting sub 12 fairly often, which would be an amazing time in a marathon setting.
