I have a question about running a epsxe speed run.

May i ask what programs/stuff i need to make one from a epsxe emulator.  Was thinking of making one through this, but have no clue what stuff i need to make one.

Is there like a tutorial guide i can read about this sorta thing ?

Thanks on whoever can help me out

You got a deletion wish?
You can't.  Emulators aren't allowed.
Emulators other official ones are not allowed for SDA speedruns.
http://tasvideos.org/ would be a better place for your questions.

And even they don't use ePSXe, since there aren't any rerecording tools, outside of save states.

How come whenever someone mentions emulator, people always gotta reflex reaction "goto tasvideos"? He never said anything about TASing, so I'd assume he wants to make a speedrun. Either he doesn't know epsxe isn't allowed, or maybe he's just running for fun. Maybe this should go in tech support?

Anyway, it's been a long, long time since I ever used epsxe (I think psx is better), but if it doesn't have a "record to avi" option, you'll need to screen capture. Try Fraps. If you don't know what that is, search around in tech support. It's the most commonly used program for recording PC games.

FRAPS definitely works, I've used it for this before. You'll need a pretty beefy PC to emulate the graphics/sound faithfully and capture video at the same time, though.

Just wanna do a speed run with epsxe emulator for fun only. Pretty much know what fraps is, i use it quite abit and Sorry i posted this, did not know it was not allowed to discuss emulator related.
I know it's shameless to link to one of my own posts, but this might help you. Basically, use DarkMan's GPU Recorder plugin to make a file that you can play back in GPU Player. Record output from that using PEOPS Soft Driver 1.17's AVI dump feature. I can't help you with sound though. :/

No, it's perfectly fine to run for fun and not SDA, and also to discuss emulator stuff. Don't let those people give you the wrong impression.

Edit: The beginning of this thread (which is pretty sickening) is why it's really stupid that TAS people use the word speedrun all the time to refer to TAS. If they were separated like they should be, you wouldn't have confusion like this. People argue that TAS is just a subset of speedrun, but that's stupid since the baseline isn't speedrunning, it's assisted vs unassisted. You can make a lot of types of assisted videos other than speedruns (including a lot of the "runs" they have that are playarounds). The base issue is if someone wants to use tools or not. incubus doesn't, and the method he uses to make his run (console, emulator, whatever) is irrelevant.
