Yup, just took the 3-10 IL WR on the leaderboards, cutting off about 5 seconds: http://steamcommunity.com/stats/ElectronicSuperJoy/leaderboards/206594 - I'll see if I can record a playthrough of the level before my computer overheats.

EDIT: Done.

Oh nice glitch ! Cheesy
Quote from MaasBiolabs:
Finally broken the 30:00 barrier, got a 28:43 just now. Nice find DrDocter (I wasn't aware of it). One thing that does puzzle me is that the high score tables for some levels just have bizarrely short times. "Don't Look Down", for instance, has one person with a 14:00 time, and everyone else is at least 21:00. Or "Here Ya Go", where two people have 9:00, everyone else has 14:00, or "Ice Ice Baby" with a 20:00 then nothing but 28:00s. And "Star League" I wonder about too. And "The Wizard", the first stage of the Groove Wizard fight, seems to have a bunch of people who have somehow got it around 15s. I've been trying, but I cannot figure out how it might be done.

It looks like two of those abnormally quick times were set by our very own Miril. Miril? Are you willing to share your secrets?

Also, I'm comparing 1.03 and 1.05, and it looks like the flight speed glitch was introduced after 1.03, but the Over By Christmas skip was patched. Does anybody have a copy of 1.04, by any chance? I don't think I really approve of the monotone grass, but maybe we'll be lucky and it will have the faster version of both of those glitches. I haven't done the math yet, but in choosing a version, we'll need to figure out if the time saved on I Still Love You and I'm guessing I Blame Your Mother will make up for the time saved on Over By Christmas and having consistency on Pride and Big Sexy Beast.

On the subject of previous versions of the game being "allowed", I think we can use any version we want - Ocarina Of Time is played on an iQue, for heaven's sake - we just have to make it known that we are doing so. The v1.03/5 divergence will, I would predict, create multiple categories, only the faster of which will end up on SDA. When any two people race, though, they should probably agree beforehand on which version they're using. For the purposes of naming, though, most people will probably assume that we're using the most recent version, so you'll most likely only need to specify if you're running v1.03 or 4.

On a different note, is anyone interested in doing a segmented run? I don't think it would be so difficult, but we'd need to figure out a way to time the transition from one level to the next. I noticed as I was slicing down that IL video that the timer is paused at the end of the level for at least a few frames, which would add up given 48 level transitions. We'll have to figure out when the timer for the next level starts counting, because maybe it's the instant you hit the portal, but I would guess it happens at the apex of the fade through white.

Ok, nice, so i think i will keep playing on version 1.04, but ... i don't have a copy of the v1.04 x)

For the segmented run, i'm not interested ^^

I might be interested in a segmented. I've really only done ILs on the game as of yet. As for the wing glitch, I won't take part in that because I don't want to get involved with glitches that will most likely be patched in the future. Let me know if you're willing to use my help. As of now, I've got the lowest times for each world excluding major glitches (Wing glitch, 00:000 times, and patched glitches). Might be able to provide some small movement things too.

Edit: I should mention that on older versions of the game the music must be muted on Drop The Beat because the reset lag that used to be on there.

As for the 15s times on The Wizard, it was caused by the boss dying after only two hits. (Patched now)

Some times are very low due to one of the timer bugs back in august-september, where the player could reset before the first checkpoint they touched, and if they hit the C.P while fading to white, the timer would reset to 00:000 but they would respawn at the checkpoint they just got.

Like OrangeCrix said , those time are due to a bug in the launching version of the game.

The dev said they where going to delete the bugged time in the leaderboards ( in September if i remember well ) but it look like they never did it =(

edit : look like they'll never do anything to the leaderboard , they didnt even reseted the time for 3/4 - Over by christmas despite having patched it.

I sent them a mail in september  for improvement of the game. they thanked me and they did some of the improvement i suggested.
I think we can e-mail them again and ask them about the leaderboard and have some answer because i wouldnt be surprised that the problem may be from steam who just dont want the dev to do anything with the time in the leaderboard.
If i ask to the developper to send me the previous version (especially the 1.04), do you think he will accept ? :s
So.. All is patched since v1.05 ?
I would like to run this game too. I'm currently working on it.

Sometimes i felt like i was doing some corner boost. I don't know if it's possible or if it's only my imagination. Did somebody feel it too ?

PS : sorry for bad english, I'm french
Hey guys, I've picked up ESJ recently too and I've got a couple of questions if I may ask them:
If I understand you guys correctly, all the glitches / RNG manipulation methods during bosses are patched? Specifically talking about Pride and the level with the Runes here.
Also, what parts of the game would an any% run exactly include? Is it time after world 3 or is world 4 included in an any% run?

Sorry if any of these questions come across as a little bit... dense, but I've only just started speedrunning, so it'd be awesome if you guys could answer these Cheesy

Hi Ridonkulous.

I'm new at speedruning too, but I can answer to your questons.
First, the any% doesn't include the world 4.
Then, RNG manipulation and the glitch at 3-4 (Over The Christmas) are patched. I'm looking for another way to manipulate bosses, but I think it's really randomize :/

I think we should attach our runs to the version. Even if we now have the fast flying glitch, I'm not sure if new runs can be sub27
I see, thanks for answering my questions!

So I guess the old record of 27:00 will also not count anymore? At least not for this version, I assume.

By the way, Pride is a pretty easy level to get right even without RNG manipulation. The only thing you want to do is get 5 hits off before the Pope starts the spinning laser attack. If you can get him before he does that, the fight takes ~30 seconds. If he doesn't get hit 5 times before he starts using that attack, the earliest he can start his death animation results in a ~50 second fight. So basically it isn't hard to make it, but it can take a lot longer if you don't get a little lucky with the rocket spawns.

Still practicing the one level with the runes (keep forgetting the name), but it's quite difficult to get consistent on without RNG manipulation. I still want to get this run done though, so I'm gonna keep at it. Maybe any of you have any ideas to make that level a little easier?

Pope fight is easy yep. Currently I'm always ~40s
Runes level is hardest level I think. I'm still trying manipulation.
< ^ > < ^ >
Looking to run this game.

I can dedicate a section of my site to organizing information and leaderboards for this game, after AGDQ is over, as I'm hosting the FAQ's and such, and I don't want to put anything towards anything else.

Hey guys I don't know if you use the steam version but after I watched a blind race by flicky I decided to give this game another shot.

Currently I'm on a very good pace for quite a few ILs but it seems some of the times are either glitched or hacked on the leaderboards. I might pick this up for the any% run after I finished my achievement hunt. Great work so far though! Smiley

It's me or since 1.06 we can't stomp lasers anymore? Especially for "I Blame Your Mother" ?

Also, Runes level seems easier
I'm still having major problems with Big Sexy Beast, but have an easier time stomping lasers.
Pretty much the opposite problem from you, so I guess this is just a personal thing for both of us.
Time to practice ^^
The non-stomping laser was a bug. I've just made it right now.
About the Big Sexy Beast, maybe it was luck ^^ But I tried it now too and I'm still thinking it's easier.

Anyway, I will probably complete a SS run during the month. My goal is sub 35
Get over here!
And I've taken my first IL record! W3 L10 "I Still Love You" with a 00:28.686.

Now my thumbs hurt Cheesy
So, following on what Bowlercaptain said, are we going to have separate categories for each patch version? Because depending on the patch version you can practically skip a few levels with how easy they become (multiple missiles on Pride, RNG manipulation on Big Sexy Beast, etc). We should probably agree on either which patch everyone should play on, or just whether to create more categories.
I'll always play the last version for me. But it could be interesting to create a 1.03/1.04 categorie. Otherwise, the 3l3ktr0 27:00 run isn't comparable

I've just watch again this run, and I've a little question. He begin the timer when he click the first level in selection menu. Shouldn't we start the run when we push a at the very first screen ?
I guess we can agree that at least two separate categories make sense then. 1.04 and 1.06 any% makes sense considering we're all playing 1.06 right now and a 1.04 run already exists. So I guess if someone would like to, they could try to improve upon 3l3trk0's 27:00 run.

I've been considering a 100% run as well, I suppose that would involve just completing all levels and getting all stars. Maybe all gold times as well?

I'm quite pleased with the number of people interested in this game! I've been running since the beta, so I've got many hours put in already. My current in-game time is 28:29.293 with 1.04, so I'll have to see what I can improve upon for 1.06, if any.
The 1.06 Any% run will by all means be slower than the 1.04 run for sure, since the glitches and RNG manipulation methods in Pride and Big Sexy Beast are both patched, making them significantly  longer levels. But I do have to admit, if you have a time like that in 1.04, you won't have much trouble getting a good time in 1.06 either.
My Big Sexy Beast time was 25.308 with manipulation, but Pride time (42.986) was an unlucky run where boss did all attacks before dying. Pride could be improved in 1.06 still, I hope. No chance for Big Sexy Beast though.
Get over here!

Timing depends on what method you want to use. If it the SDA method you start timing when you first gain control till you do the last input where you lose control. So that would be after the intro sequence till you jump into the portal behind the wizard.

I'd even say 100% should include deathless because that's how the ingame achievement is defined too. And deathless doesn't mean you can't use reset! Those don't count as a death. Strats wouldn't change much that way.

Currently I'm grinding out levels for any% so I can get a run going. Is anyone else besides Miril in contact with the devs? I'd really like to know some technical stuff about the game but I'm not sure if they'd just answer someone who just started to play the game. Smiley
