Pretty sure this is currently the fastest run. Timing starts upon selecting the first level, timing ends when the screen flashes white after defeating the boss.

I would say 95% of my resets are on world one, even when the mistakes aren't that significant.

Probably a third of my resets are on world two or higher. THOSE are the WORST.

I mean, I know it's only 10 minutes in, but it's still annoying.

EDIT: The past 7 "runs" have been reset on either "Where's the Stairs" or "They Bleed Rip Offs" because of my stupid movement mistakes.

Has this game reached the point where we have our own names for certain enemies? Because I'd like to propose that we name the Banshee cape thing that you usually kill in Sunlight Grooves to be Frank. Or Edwardo.

EDIT: Also, if this ever hits marathon status where there's a race, there should be a donation incentive where you Save or Kill the Groove Wizard (seeing how you can just run past him and complete the game, even though it only saves an incredibly minute number of frames)

Yup, this game will violently fight back against you getting a good run going, which is why we fight harder. Glad to have you with us. Hit me up if you ever want to race - you and I may actually be at comparable skill levels, which would be fun.

Groove city is friggin' great, guys. Noticeably different in ways - no smashing, terminal falling velocity - and the points system is new and exciting. The primary thing I've noticed for speedrunning thus far is that the camera's scrolling speed varies within a level and is triggered by player position, so it could be useful to speed ahead or hang back in order to make the screen scroll at a more beneficial speed. Specifically, in Dark Star, standing around near the moving spike balls before the mass of dissappearing platforms is definitely faster.

I have also noticed that touching a flag pushes the camera forward to that flag on certain levels, so we don't have to reset to push the screen ahead. Also, there's a speedrun timer. Todd-senpai noticed us!

After countless attempts, I managed to complete a run. 33:42.93 is positively abysmal, but given how new I am at this, I'd say it's pretty DECENT... (Especially considering I had 72 deaths, 41 of which were in World 2 alone...)

Also, Prisma, if you were given the opportunity to run ESJ (with a post-run Groove City incentive) at AGDQ/SGDQ 2015, would you?

I would take the opportunity if it were to theoretically come around, but unfortunately I just started a full time job last week so it wouldn't possibly happen (not allowed to take time off work until I have worked a certain amount of time, etc).

I know that feel. High school is so restraining. I hardly have any freetime anymore. I'm currently on summer break, but between my job shadowing and AP summer assignments, I'm pretty stuck.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but if you press Smash right after the opening credits, you smash down from the portal. Pretty sure it only saves a handful of frames (if any), but I figured it should be mentioned.
(I should also note that even though you can smash at the start, you can't smash again until either A. they give it to you like normal, or B. you reset at the first flag.)

Todd needs to make prequel games where we fight DJ Deadly Skillz and fight in the War of Rock 'n' Roll and the Disco Wars of 1515. Make it, like, DLC to Groove City and just open up a hallway or something like that next to the Groove City entrance.

Level 3 in Groove City, "Bouncing Around", has been changed and is now 4 seconds longer or so, which kind of sucks. Basically just adds time onto your run for no reason.

Does that mean WR is unachievable, or the category is just changed? I was planning on beating that 9:55, too...

9:55 is definitely still beatable, since i got a 9:54 yesterday while messing around (it's recorded but I don't plan on uploading because 1 second is insignificant). I think Groove City could be pushed to sub 9:30 eventually.

Hey guys !

A long time i didn't go there, I will come back to my home in July, and I think I've lost a great part of my skills on ESJ during these 5 months xD

So I will try to replay a little more, but I think it will be hard to beat your time Prismatoid :s

Racing is fun.

If and when the opportunity presents itself, I want to do World 1 and/or Any% race with Prisma, Electro, ShadowDraft, and Bowlercaptain. This is friggin amazing.
