Never give up!
I got the go-ahead to start this topic, despite not knowing who's going to run it, so that a potential strategy could be determined.

The first thing I'd like to point out is that I'm surprised at this quote from our original discussion:
Quote:
Once you become a dinosaur, it would be pretty pointless to become a bird or mammal, since you would have to spend more time getting points to evolve.

I haven't tested the reptile in those last two eras, so I wouldn't have a clue.  But I'm not entirely sure completely ditching the chance to become either the bird or the mammal is worth it.

Anyway, I thought of a few areas for building Evolution Points (referred to hereafter as Evo. Points) in the first few levels:

The World Before Land: I'd suggest spending time either in the cave with those planarian-esque enemies (Cave of Temptation), or in the cave with those trilobyte enemies and gray fish (Cave of Zinichtys).  Probably the latter since it takes only two bites to get rid of the trilobyte enemies and they give decent Evo. Points.  Cave of Origin is also decent although I feel that's too late in the scenario.  This is the one scenario where I feel just about everything (besides body upgrades, which I think are unnecessary here) is quite useful.

Age of Amphibians: 'Land of bull Ikustega' is an excellent idea in my opinion for early Evo. Point building.  Stay at least for the next tail upgrade, the next jaw upgrade, and the Jeprol (which increases attack power greatly for a mere 300 Evo. Points) evolution.  If you must build points later in the scenario, then 'Domain of Profasu' (the one with the roaches) is your best bet.  Again, anything besides body upgrades (and, of course, any 'back of the head' extension besides Jeprol) is worthwhile, I think.  Is it all necessary?  Haven't determined that yet.

Age of Reptiles: Hands down, the best place for building Evo. Points in this scenario is 'Domain of Prasauro', trust me.  Anyway, the useful transformations are the third set of jaws (forgot their name), a decent tail (again), and the transformation to 2 legs - the last of which I think is critical in a speedrun, although I say take it only once before fighting the Prime Frog, then take the second one AFTER that fight.

For everyone who didn't, check the speed run request thread for the first posts about this game discussion here .

Ok, there is only one drawback to staying a dinosaur- no back kick for boss battles. Which I think is greatly offset by the fact that you start the last two eras fully evolved, and you can build a great supply of evo points to heal-evolve yourself.

Evo points for water world- try this out and you will pee your pants with how much evo you get. Get the second pair of jaws and an angler horn, and go to the area with the volcanos and the wall of bubbles blocking you off. The fish just come to you. What's also great is that you have to sit and wait in this area anyways, so might as well go around and collect all the points you need for the world, in one go!

Amphibian world- I hate leveling here. You're probably right and stuff. Killing enemies by jumping on them seems to be a good way to get points quickly.

Reptile world- do whatever to get the t-rex jaws. Then go to the water level with the plesiosaurs and the ammonites on the bottom. Those ammonites are ridiculous, they die in two bites and give you 500 evo points each. Stay at the bottom, cause if they get under you, you're dead instantly. I disagree with the 2-legged evolution, but I might be wrong. I like the 4-legged with the long neck, because he can reach more enemies. But both can just stand next to most bosses and bite the hell out of them before they can attack. Long neck owns, try it on bolbox (last boss).

I don't know if you know this, the shark boss is a good example, many bosses can be taken out quickly by repetitively biting them. Works on queen bee too, can't remember who else.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
My original thought was bird for the speed, but I bet soteos is right with the dinosaur since minimalist is usually best. Does anyone know how fast the dinosaur can go?

And if anyone reads my bisqwit's post in the other thread, I was talking about a TAS, so there you would go for max speed and since you're TAS'ing you wouldn't need to worry about getting hit or taking that much longer to kill bosses. That might not be feasible in a speedrun; I wouldn't know.

Does the evo points transfer over to mammal and bird? I forget some things about this game. Well I don't know if I'll ever run this, but I'll at least give it a play through at home during spring break.

I remember the blue orbs (I think it's the blue ones), that give you free evo points. There's one in the Cave of Zinichtys. Those would be good to know where to get.

And I just want to say, in dino land, flying out of the clouds as a dragon and into the asteroid belt was one of the coolest gaming experiences I've had.

Never give up!
I might do some research later tonight and find out what the maximum speed value is for the dinosaur.  I want to say it's quite fast.  If we can just establish it's faster than the mammal's top speed (or even equivalent), we have a case.

...

First off, Evo. Points do not transfer between ANY of the bodies to my knowledge.  That includes evolving to a bird or to a mammal.  You have to start completely from scratch with each different form.

And yes, those ARE blue orbs.

Regarding the 'World Before Land' spot soteos mentioned: I think it COULD be done reasonably well without the second pair of jaws as well - just getting the Angler Horn.  Simply on the virtue that you're guaranteed to do at least 1 point of damage with each attack even if their defense is higher than your attack power.

Regarding the 'Age of Reptiles' spot: I think yours would only work well if we know for sure the dinosaur body (or MAYBE even the bird body) is the way to go.  If we're going to be going with the mammal body later, I see no need to use that spot.

As for the biting thing: I believe I've done that before, yes.  With intermediate timing you can take off a LARGE chunk of their health that way, and I dare say it's CRITICAL to beating the shark boss to know that trick.  With expert timing I believe it's possible to do it without ever giving them a second chance to retaliate.

Regarding the stockpiling of Evo. Points - Despite the effect that repeated evolutions in a short time would leave in my mind (damn my anime influences!), that is once again a crucial tactic.  Find something cheap, of course - if using the dinosaur I say evolve and remove the Ptenodon's Crest for this purpose (unless there's something cheaper to put on and remove constantly, which there may very well be).

EDIT: Okay, I've determined the following values for the dinosaur's maximum speed.

These assume the following conditions:

Dorsal Fin - Pronesaurus Dorsal Fin
Body - Slick Body
Size - Small
Tail - Invincible Tail
Back of the head - Ptenodons Crest

All results for the 4-legged form and 2-legged form were tested with the longer neck, but I don't think neck size makes a difference in speed.  (With the transitional stage in between, the long neck is the only size neck available.)

The Bird Jaw results were tested with Phonocos Jaws but will apply to any set of jaws listed below Tyrasaurus Jaws.  Normal Jaw results were tested with Tyrasaurus Jaws and above.  The 'hybrid form' refers to the transitional stage between true 4-legged form and true 2-legged form.

4-Legged Form, Bird Jaws = 14
4-Legged Form, Normal Jaws = 11
Hybrid Form, Bird Jaws = 15
Hybrid Form, Normal Jaws = 12
2-Legged Form, Bird Jaws = 18
2-Legged Form, Normal Jaws = 15

This speed difference is why I pushed for the 2-legged form earlier in the discussion.  The 'bird jaws' thing was done just to prove a point of maximum speed.

I'll give ya the 2-legs for speed, no big deal there. But eek, never use bird jaws (I know it was just an example, but using it to cover flat stretches of land would be offset by how often you use the tyrosaur jaws. It could, however, be useful in the last era since the first half is just running through places).
A cheaper evo-heal would be dorsal fin or tail, but I imagine that could be unnecessary with the correct boss strategies, and the surplus of evo from bosses. Then maybe could just evolve the 500 horns or something.
Can the bold attack (where you dash at an enemy and press A) ever be higher than tyrosaur jaws damage?

Is there a rom of this game anywhere at all? I've looked before unsuccessfully, and it would just be nice to know it's out there somewhere.
100% runs=great to watch
I recommend edgeemu for all rom needs.

Darwin has smiled upon me, I found it just now ;D. Thanks anyways getter. Edit: and thanks Enhasa.
So now I can actually do stuff on this. Yay. But I have a long essay to do tonight. Boo. Playing around with this will commence soon.

Random trick- you can jump on enemies twice by gulping in the air after the first jump.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
Just to be complete inside this thread, the max speed for the mammal is 14 and the bird is 18. 2-legged form, normal jaws dinosaur (15 speed) looks like the overall winner!

Quote:

AFAIK no.

Disclaimer: I think this is ok to post because if HOTU has it, that's good enough in my book.

Just about every single SNES rom ever produced is available online. I haven't tried downloading an SNES rom in many years, but it was easy to find working download sites. Try phrases like "romnation" and "home of the underdogs" in your search engine of choice. Stay away from anything that makes you jump through hoops.

Omg waterwold is so easy. In first area, I get 50 dorsal fin (+1 to bold attack). Then I go through until I get 200 for jaws, easy. Then attack the green blob things for the 500 angler horns. Then in the bubble wall place, just keep biting til I get 800 for final jaws. Then the last levels I attack the zinicthys (I don't care if I spell this stuff wrong), maybe get the 500 blue orb, and attack the Cepalas. The last level I just swam through it all the way to the last boss. As soon as shark boss stops talking, I immediately bite continuously until he dies. Even if he lands a hit, you can keep biting to win.
Ok amphibians next. Don't expect this to get done real quick.

Edit: Inspiration! I am gonna go through waterworld again to save the powerful fish. So I can use the green crystal to turn into him against the amphibian boss.

Amazing strides have been made in understanding evolution. Grin

Fish
50 dorsal fin (for bold attack)
200 jaws (mostly from eels)
500 angler (all from green blobs)
800 jaws (from terodus)
Hands/feet, dorsal, and tail get along the way from zinicthys, 500 blue crystal, cepalas, and whatever else to top it off (end with those first two sharks)
Then swim straight to shark boss. Start out a little low before he attacks- it seems to help. Multi-bite him, get the evo, upgrade to highest armor. Go onto land, and record the fish.

Amphibian
Get green crystal in the empty area. Go along until you get to debustega. Turn into the ultimate fish, and kill him with ease.
Go to the king bee boss lair. Get the free 1000 evo, upgrade to 500 jaws. As you kill the blue blobs, get the 1000 tail. Fight king bee (by jumping up and biting him). I tested, and it's much faster this way rather than saving up for 1500 jaws to fight him.
Go along until area before queen bee, where you get enough evo to get 1500 jaws. Then go to queen bee.
Queen bee sucks, but can be done. Multi-bite as much as possible. Must time the first bite just right to live. Then run to the right side to avoid stingers, bite when she descends, run to left side, bite, run to right, bite, etc. When she dies, upgrade to 2000 armor and whatever else you can. Record your amphibian.

Dinosaur
Go along until get to frog boss. Change into ultimate amphibian. This is an extremely hard battle, but can be done. Stay low and keep biting towards the frog, predicting where it will land. Part of it seems to be hoping the little frogs give you flashing meat to heal.
Now I have 2000-some evo with the non-upgraded dino and I dunno what to do now. I want to get omosaur jaws (3000) and attack ammonites. Will work on it later.
Ok, continuing from the last post. I go back to the place with the headbangers, evolve the 100 tail (so I can go through the tritops area without dying), get back that 100 evo, and grab the green crystal. Should have 2000 evo.
Then head to ammonite place, and turn into ultimate amphibian. Should be able to get 4500 overall before it changes back (unless gets a lucky flashing meat). Then bold attack an ammonite til it dies, get the 5000 jaws. From here it's easy sailing. Get however much evo needed, and remember to evolve along the way instead of just here. (now need 2500 armor, both 2-legged evolutions, dorsal fin, tail, and horned helmet)
Fight the 10 tyrosaurs with carefully placed bites. The second one on ground level seems to be the best place to keep attacking over and over.

Ice Age
Jump on ice, don't run. Take the lower Mt. Snow path.
Mammoths- easy, push them into the corner and keep biting.
Birdman- keep attacking him, heal with horn-evolve.
Male Yeti- immediately jump away to position self, then wait for him to come, continuously bite him with slight pauses inbetween attacks to keep him from hurting you
Female Yeti- immediately jump away to position self; when she comes- jump and bite, then bite again on the ground, then jump over ice breath, repeat until dead

Last Era
Run through most everything. The grizzlies should probably be attacked.
Yeti Son- always back off from him, use dash jumps over him (makes him do an uppercut), while in the air- come back down and bite his backside twice (the second time is in case he comes after you immediately afterwards), repeat until dead
Merman- Constantly horn-heal, and attack in a horizontal pattern
Caveman- let him swing the club, then go in and attack, bite after each time he tries to jump on you
Bolbox- ick! I had about 7000 evo here. Didn't beat him yet, but I'm tired. Try to stay on the left side.

I don't know what happens with this from here, but there it is.

Imagine someone wanting to come in and run this. All the route work is done for them!

Yes I've considered it, but I'm not sure when I'll do it. Spring break I'm doing CotM. Maybe I can squeeze it in there as well. It wouldn't take long, as there's very little randomness in it, just getting the pattern down right. It'll be segmented for one thing. But still, probably wouldn't be done during the break.
How about you Enhasa, or Aquatiger?
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
Sorry, I already know the next 3-4 games I'm running. Like you, I'm also very busy, and also, I'm getting way behind on my list of games I actually want to play. You know, normally. Oh yeah, I'd also need to buy the cart again since I don't have it anymore. Let alone being way out of practice (shouldn't be that hard to get back in it though) and trying to optimize the exact route I'd want to use.

These are the same reasons why I'm paying to see the Lufia run done. Although, I'm still putting a lot of work into it, so I'm not sure how worthy an investment that was. Tongue I wouldn't pay to see this run done, but I'd still greatly appreciate if someone did it!
Show of hands- who else forgot there was a blue crystal above the asteroid belt that gave you 9999 evo? Ok, bird actually seems doable now. I don't know if the time spent flying through the clouds is made up by other time savers with the bird though.

I have other notes for improvement, so if anyone actually attempts this, ask and I'll send them to you.

Aside from that, I guess I'll come back to this sometime in the future and run it.
Never give up!
It's somewhat unlikely that I'd do this anytime soon.

The earliest I could imagine doing a run of this game is probably in May sometime, when college lets out for the summer.  I already have a run I'm planning on doing for spring break and I've got a mile-long queue.

Ha, that was definitely considered or I wouldn't have even suggested bird! There's also a blue crystal below the UFO that gives a lot, although anyone can get it. Whoever is doing the run should test, but I still agree that dinosaur is the fastest because you don't have to go through all that evolving again. Although I thought of yet another benefit of the bird: you don't have to use elevators since flying is much faster.

If you have more notes, you can just post them here for posterity.
Edit history:
soteos: 2006-03-01 01:01:26 am
I'll give the other notes then.
Fast way for climbing platforms- gulp in the air above them. You'll land on most of those you'd normally fall through.
The fastest way to move (for amphibian and dinosaur) is continuous dash-jumping.
Fish: it may waste time to evolve beyond the 800 jaws. You could level up if you're forced to kill some enemies (e.g. Cepalas), but mostly it doesn't seem worth it. Still get the armor after beating shark boss (for debustega battle).
Amphibian: the best tail for amphibian may be unnecessary, just get something that can jump at the bee. Also- get the Jeprol for more bite power. After the 1500 jaws, focus anything left on speed. Again, after queen bee, get the 2000 armor.
Dinosaur: after beating the frog boss, put the 2000 points into all jump and any else into agility (to climb mt brave the fastest).
As bird in the clouds- if becoming dragon increases speed significantly enough to make up for time getting and becoming it, get it. It might not, however. In the asteroid belt, flying diagonally up to the blue crystal spot may be faster than dashing left and dashing up.
In the last era there is a blue crystal on top of the condor mountain giving you 5000 points. It makes getting non-boss evo pointless.

Quote:
There's also a blue crystal below the UFO that gives a lot, although anyone can get it.

... whoa do I not know about this? Where is it, and how much does it give?

Very late edit: I'm stupid to not go with bird. Makes most of the bosses much easier. Hell, I don't think the 5000 crystal is even needed. Single segment may be possible.

I tested this out a loooooooooong time ago with the help of Zurreco but never bothered posting for some reason.

You definitely want to end as the mammal. Really just process of elimination.

Bird takes forever to get. All these stages and the whole jumping off thing.
Reptiles have like 1/4 speed or something on ice, which there's a lot of near the end.

Edit: Not human of course.
I'd love to run Evo, but am unable to. :(
I already knew about the topic, but I just sorta didn't want to 'Necropost'. Seeing how the topic was TWO years old. <.<
Well, well, well, this game is finally brought up again. After this topic died, I continued working on routes for this game. I did some test runs and got it down to an hour long, and ended up using the bird*. I think I deleted or lost the guide I typed up, but I should be able to retype it easily tomorrow. Sonix, going by the times on your videos on your youtube account, it looks like your run is 30 minutes slower than what I’ve gotten. I’ll watch it soon and see how our routes compare.

*Yes, the bird is better than the mammal and dinosaur. It moves faster, is faster at killing bosses, and doesn’t necessitate killing things for evo points.

I'd love to run Evo, but am unable to. :(
Well... I'm sure the actual time is a bit longer, since I speed up Most Text, grinding, and I showed all the alternate 'Endings'.

I'm still quite unsure if Killing the Shark Boss with the Horn is faster than biting it..... But actually, the horn does 10 damage compared to the jaws which do 5 damage, but you need to use 900 EP just to kill him, although easily gotten..... It's also possible to kill the Long Grey Fish (I forget the name lol) with tackles, not shown in the video til after I get everything lol, but I'm sorta testing if this is more sufficient than with the 5dmg jaws, currently.

I like the Mammal over the others since it's easy to beat bosses with, since neck extensions only cost 200 EP, for cheap health recovery. Although I prefer a Short Neck over Long Neck.

I feel a few things could be a bit better, for Instance, not dying as much as I did. Furthermore, The Route I take in Chapter 3 kinda fits a NG+ more than anything, since I had creatures saved from my last 2 playthroughs

It's not really a speed run anyhow, I just recorded for the sake of adding more videos. Not to mention I can't go try and put one up for SDA seeing how I only have the Emu/Rom. Just give my insight and whatnot, and from what I can tell, I think I've got the fastest run on YT atm. It'll change when the SDA aproved run comes out though, I'm sure of it. Grin

Interesting fact, if you search 'Evo Search For Eden' on YT, 10 of my videos come up on the first page alone. Isn't that wierd? :>
Ok, here’s my guide. There’s probably a lot of “well duh” information in it, but I think it has great routes and advice for a run of this game. Sonix, I can’t really watch your videos (I’m at home for part of the summer with slow dial-up) so hopefully there’s some stuff here you didn’t know.
Using these routes, I don't think this game would be hard to single segment.

The World Before Land
*Ocean of Origin: just swim through here, ignore the enemies.
*Cave of Guidance: eat the yellow crystal. Right after it stops talking, you can press R to exit the level.
*Cave of Temptation: the first place to collect evo points. Eat the red crystal and become an eel/stingray. Kill the green enemies until you transform back into a fish. By then you should have 200 evo, so evolve Kuraselaches Jaws. Keep killing the green things until you have 500 evo for the Angler’s Horn (and maybe an extra 50 for a dorsal fin to swim faster). After that, just press R to exit the level.
*Ocean of Terodus: the angler’s horn attracts the Terodus to you, and killing them makes the bubble walls disappear sooner, so kill as many as you can. Evolve the Zinichthy’s Jaws. Extra evo points should go towards helping you swim faster, like Hands & Feet or Tail.
*Cave of Zinichtys: ignore enemies. In the cave go straight down and directly right to exit the level.
*Domain of Cepalas: you should remove the angler horn so you can go through without them bugging you much.
*Cave of Origin: just swim through here. If you need health, the best way is probably to evolve and remove the original dorsal fin as necessary.
*Domain of Kuraseleache: swim up to the surface where enemies won’t bother you, then swim over to the boss cave.
*Boss Kuraselache: using your jaws is much better than using horns. By repeatedly biting him he’ll go down in a few seconds, unless he lands a hit in. Starting out the fight at a low angle helps a lot. Once he’s dead, grab the meat and evolve a Shell Body. Get onto land and record the fish in the Record of Evolution. Move on to the next chapter.

Early Creatures of Land
*Coast of Pange: ignore the yellow crystal.
*Empty Land: run through and grab the green crystal.
*All the levels up to Boss Ikustega: try to ignore enemies and just run through. Bouncing off of enemies helps you go faster.
*Land of Boss Ikustega: use the Review of Evolution to turn into the fish. With its armor and jaws, you can beat the boss easily by repeatedly biting it. Collect the 400 evo afterwards.
*Domain of Profasu: after you turn back into an amphibian, evolve the back of the head and get the Jeprol for bite strength. Attack the cockroaches that come at you.
*Domain of Giant Bee and Land of Insect: run through here. A basic dorsal fin will help you jump over any bees in your way.
*Cave of King Bee: collect the 1000 evo and evolve Tusking Jaws and a Spring Tail. The spring tail lets you jump up to bite the king bee. Keep jumping at him and he’ll never have time to attack. Afterwards, using the meat from the boss, plus a little extra from the cockroaches, you can evolve the Fierce Jaws.
*All the levels up to Queen Bee: jump your way through these levels. If necessary, heal-evolve with the dorsal fin.
*Queen Bee: stay on the ground and bite her when she comes at you. There’s a rhythm to biting her that’ll keep her on the ground, so don’t just frantically attack her. If done right, she’ll die in a few seconds. Sometimes it doesn’t work in one go, but that happens less than half of the time. Collect the meat and evolve a Scaly Body. Record the amphibian in the Record of Evolution. Move on to the next chapter.

Age of Dinosaurs
*Door to Dina Continent: ignore the crystal.
*Domain of Tecodonto: as you make your way through here, kill the dinos until you have 100 evo.
*Domain of Polsaurus: get the green crystal and bounce your way out of here.
*All the levels up to Prime Frog: run and jump your way through. The 100 evo collected earlier is to evolve the Snake’s Tail to help get past the Segosaurus.
*Domain of Prime Frog: this will be a tough fight because it’s a race against time. To fight the frog, evolve into the amphibian recorded earlier. Stay on the ground and chase after it. If it’s about to land on you, and you’re biting at the same time, then it’ll get hurt instead. Afterwards, evolve the Invincible Tail and Segosaurus Dorsal Fin.
*Domain of Tritops: the tail and fin let you jump through here with ease.
* Ocean of Plesusaurus: stay near the surface to avoid enemies.
*Mt. Brave: make your way up. To keep the Ptenodons from catching you, bite while jumping to keep them stunned. Jump off the top and become a bird. After that, press R to exit the level.
*Cloud Maze: there’s a map of this place on Gamefaqs. Go all the way up and all the way to the right to get the Dragon. Record the Dragon to use it in future boss fights. It has great attack power and amazing health. (note: the dragon is not essential for a highly skilled player, but I would advise potential runners to use it for trying this run out)
*River of Asteroid: go all the way to the top left to find the asteroid with the blue crystal in it. Get the 9999 evo and evolve the Tyrosaurus Jaws, the Longtail Birds Tail and the Pronesaurus Dorsal Fin. Exit the asteroid and press R to exit the level.
*Domain of Pronesaurus and Domain of Omosaurus: simply fly through these places.
*Domain of Tyrosaurus: fly low to the ground and be aggressive against the dinos. If you bite each other at the same time, they’ll take the hit. The second Tyrosaur on the ground level seems to be the best spot to repeatedly kill them. This shouldn’t be a hard fight. At some point, get the green crystal and evolve the Horned Helmet.

Ice Age
*The main way for the bird to heal-evolve is through adding and removing horns. They don’t affect any other stats, and you should have enough evo from bosses so that you don’t need to collect any from regular enemies.
*Cave of Judgment: once you enter the cave, go straight back out and press R. That’s all you need to do to complete the level.
*Cave of Deltadium: same thing as Cave of Judgment.
*Door to Mt. Snow: take the lower path through the mountain.
*All the levels up to the Mammoths: just fly through these.
*Domain of Mammoth: evolve a long neck to help against the Mammoths. Push them into the right corner to take them out easily. If they spit out bubbles, let them hit you quickly, otherwise you could get rammed. The last thing to evolve for the bird is the Feather Body, so get it whenever you can.
*Fort Bird-Man: there’s a map on Gamefaqs. Basically, when you get to the three teleporters on the right, take the middle one. Then go back into the one you come out of. Then go right, up, and left to reach the boss room. To kill the boss, you may want to wait for him to attack before moving in on him. Once you start biting, don’t let up, and he should go down quickly.
*Sir Yeti: to kill this boss, stay in one spot at ground level and have him come to you. Wait half a second between each bite and he’ll jump into them.
*Yeti Mother: take to the air and she’ll jump up to slap you. Try to be almost above her so that she jumps straight up and into your bites. She’ll keep jumping up, so time it right and there shouldn’t be a problem.

Early Man
*All the levels up to the Monkey Humans: just fly through these. The 5000 blue crystal is unnecessary. Watch out for the Grizzlies.
*Cave of Monkey Human: there’s no need to use elevators when you can fly. To get out, going by each intersection, go right, up, right, up, and all the way right.
*Yeti: this may be a boss you want to use the dragon on. The best strategy I have is to stay away and hit him when he jumps towards you. Avoid directly trading blows with him. When he stops jumping it means he’s going to do an uppercut, so just fly over him.
*Final Ocean: swim through and avoid sharks. In the Rogon cave (going by each intersection), go left, down, right, right, down, down, left, left, down, left, up, and left. Against the Rogon boss, attack in a horizontal fashion. Get hit by his bubble quickly so he doesn’t have time to attack. Your bites have to be timed so that he sort of swims into them, otherwise you’ll be too close and he’ll bump into you. Trap him against the left wall and keep biting him. If you screw up, he’ll start wandering up and down, and then he’ll be really hard to consistently hit.
*Cro-Maine: fly at the same height as his head and repeatedly bite as he tries to jump up. Easy.
*Cave of Dino-People: fly all the way up, then fly right until you pass three elevators. Take the third one down, then go right, down, left, up, and left to reach the final boss. Take the green crystal if you plan on using the dragon.

Bolbox
*Light blue crystal (meat): um… eat it.
*Dark blue crystal (jellyfish): hit and run tactics work well against it.
*Green crystal (Zinichtys): stay on the left side and repeatedly use bold attacks (where you dash and press the A button). He’ll keep coming at you, so keep knocking him back. Bolbox will probably come in to screw things up, but you’ll live.
*White crystal (Ikustega child): ignore it, keep attacking Bolbox.
*Yellow crystal (Debustega): this is the one I would use the dragon on because there’s no failsafe strategy against this guy. Wait to hit him between his attacks or while he’s jumping up. Hopefully you can pin him against the left wall, in which case use timed bites like against Sir Yeti.
*Red crystal (cockroach): stay on the left side and hit it with a bold attack while it’s facing you. That way, it’ll fly in a clockwise circle and you can repeatedly bite it when it reaches the low part of its circle. If you bite fast enough, you can keep it from hitting you at all.
*Orange crystal (Prasauro): start on the right side of it. Once it’s pushed against the left wall, bite it until it dies.
*Purple crystal (bird-man): fly just high enough so that he doesn’t ram you and so you can hit him while he’s flying up. You should be able to repeatedly bite him without any trouble.
