I just decided to do Blaise End. I managed to find so many time-saving devices in it that it's not even funny. I completed it in less than fifteen minutes without a transferred creature. I didn't time it exactly, but I'm sure this is the fastest time It's been done. I'll outline my strategy for it.

Note: I'm assuming people are very familiar with the level in this brief walkthrough. Look at a map if you need to know what I'm talking about.

1. Don't claim the portal. There are only six creatures you need. At the farthest right side there are three neutral bile demons in a neutral prison. Dig to them. You need to dig along the right side of the centre, along the edge of the gold. You will pick up two spiders along the way. Dig through the top gold block, and then go right through the next band, then down. Have your spiders break down the door. This is all you'll need them for.

2. Dig up from the prison to the room with the lightning bolt spell. Have your bile demons kill the faeries inside, build a nearby library and claim the lightning spellbook.

3. Dig to the far left. Have your bile demons take care of the witches. There are many piles of gold here, put a treasury underneath them.

4. Dig up from where the witches are. There is a reinforced hero wall, but it will dissipate when you claim the tile next to it. Dig through and kill the level two wizards with the bile demons. There are lots of gold pots here, build a treasury underneath them. Watch out for the boulder trap to the right.

5. Break through the door to the left. When the wizards appear, lightning them until they die. Dig the plain dirt square to find a level 7 dragon. Also dig into the treasury.

6. Break down the door leading out of the treasury. Continue down the corridor. When wizards appear, lightning them.

7. This is the hardest part. Break down the door leading to the heart. Because you have not entered through the front, no heroes will await you. However, there are multitudes of traps. Manoeuvre your dragon through them. If you get too damaged, wait and heal. Head over to the dungeon heart and destroy it with flame breath. Try and stand on a corner of the heart so that the lightning trap doesn't constantly activate. If you lose your dragon to the traps, there is a resurrect creature box, but if you're careful you won't need it.

8. Now that there are no doors, drop an imp near the where the door next to the real entrance to the fortress was. Then drop him in the entrance. You've won!

And there you go. Blaise End in fifteen minutes. It can probably be done faster too with imp possession. Yes that last step seems silly, but with the way the triggers work, you have to visit that spot for the game to register your victory.

I really hope that in the future someone will do a full speed run of this game. It's still my favourite of all time.
Would anyone want to see a run of Dungeon Keeper???

I haven't played the game in quite some time now but I used to love playing it.

Any tips or is this something people totally dont want to see  Wink
Check this thread.

And yes I like to see it Smiley
"Time to go to work..."
Yep. Would like to see it. Very much.
Don't know what more to say than that, really.
I don't think the links on the old thread are working.

i.e.,    http://files.filefront.com/DK1+Enigma+Map1wmv/;8663387;/fileinfo.html

I would like to take a look at his first.
You might want to read the game's scripts if you're not 100% sure about what happens and why in each level.

There's a level editor on the web which contains a description about how exactly those scripts work.
Thanks.  I'm going to check it out now.

I'd like to see it, although I like DK2 much more.

I have the videos on my hd but my upload speed is too crappy to upload them.
Anyway, read the the topic it can be informative and it link to a more ancient thread.
From what i remember:
-read and understand the dk scripts
-play on a "good" pc to keep the highest amount of "main game loop" per seconds. If it drops then the time required is higher since everything is based on game loops.

-use possession and run  diagonaly
-use dragons with possession

-if you want some game tips, play an unofficial campain named : Ancient Keeper.
(you learn stuff like: ther is a gap in a corner near water, but that gap is closed if you build walls on the two sides)

good luck
Thanks for advice.

I never played DK2.  Any thoughts on which is better??

I haven't played DK in so long I would have to practice a lot so since thats the case I may decide to do DK2, only if its higher demand than DK.

I can't wait to slap some imps  Shocked
is there any patch which helps to play dungeon keeper on good pc's? .. if I remember correctly it needs windows 95 or somethin crappy like this..
also I'm 99% sure it doesn't work on XP nor Vista without help (patches or even emulation(?!))

but i'm interessted in a run of this game
It's-a me, Raven!
Try these:
http://www.patches-scrolls.de/dungeon_keeper.php
http://browse.files.filefront.com/Dungeon+Keeper+Official+Patches/;138197;/browsefiles.html

I remember DK running on my XP in Win95 mode (dk95.exe iirc), the only real problem was that darn level-select map scrolling faster than Sonic could ever run over it.

Hope this gets picked up again - love that game.
IIRC Dungeon Keeper runs well on my PC (Athlon XP 2600, Windows XP) without any patches. Only problem (as already mentioned by Raven75) are those damn map, savegame and score screens that scroll like 10000 pixels per second.

Also, the executable is named Keeper95.exe but (again IIRC) it doesn't need to be run in Windows 95 compatibility mode.

In contrast, Dungeon Keeper 2 runs but crashes about once every hour.
The DK2 crashing has probably sth to do with graphics drivers as it always automatically set software rendering after restarting the game.
sda loyalist
DK2 crashes on mine all the time if I use the 'run from CD' thing, but I've never seen it crash after installing and playing from hard drive.
I installed DK on my hard drive to get going on this run but I'm not getting any sound!!  Running in DOS

Any suggestions??

Game works fine but no sound effects and no music....playing this game without either is terrible...I love that guy who talks  Grin
Figured it out.  Downloaded the demo and copied and pasted the sound files I was missing.

I'll let you know on progress next couple of days.

15 minutes... nice.

my strategy was way off. the only thing i followed was to not claim the portal (if i recall correctly). basically i just took my vampire and massacred like 100 creatures, then milked some gold from the pink gems above for a bit, discovered the destroy walls spell and killed the heart to win..

finally decided to do blaise end again, this time with your awesome strategy. managed to get 9 minutes although can be done much faster (made tons of mistakes and did not transfer a creature). im not even sure if you're supposed to transfer creatures for these speed runs or not? Anyway, Full credits to zyzzyva  Wink

made it for fun ^^
Go play spacechem !
Nice  Grin
btw what program did you use to record the video?
And  a little tip, there is a shortcut for creature posession so you dont need to pick it first via the menu pannel and mess with creature targetting especially if they move all around after one or two slaps Wink (but i dont have the game installed anymore and dont remember the shortcut  :-X)
Well done. Looking forward for more. Any special strategies for level 20?

i used "Fraps", however if you want fraps to capture DK make sure you're in low resolution mode (press alt+r).
thx for the shortcuts btw, im much faster now. i kinda knew they existed but never took the initiative to learn them  Grin
