My MU Island was flawless on that one, and the Egypt boss can be a pain also since you want to double hit him everytime he sinks down the sand.

hmm. I might to some runs later this weekend.

Cool.
Im always think this pogo double hits with egypt boss is possible because TAS used it. Im not remember i make this even once, even i practice it quite bit. So its at least fucking precise, i can believe your pain here at least after Robot boss.
Speedrunner
You can double pogo the MU boss also, but its like a 1-2 frame window for that

I've been running DuckTales 2 GB on easy the past 2 weeks.
Got a good run in a few days ago for the Good Ending in a time of 18:21.

A video for your viewing pleasure:

I'm not running Difficult because the bosses are just horribly translated and you can't avoid taking damage at all on Bermuda boss and Mu.

Aaaannd 07:28!

I've reached my goal for this game, and regrettably I'm not going to pursue it any further, as it's all about that RNG Sad
It was still a good week of runs and I'm happy to race people in the future and maybe at marathons too Smiley
Just wondering, what are the thoughts about a Good Ending run of Ducktales 1 ($10,000,000 or over for a final score)? I was surprised to see there was nothing posted for it here or really anywhere on Youtube (I saw a couple videos, but they are like 35 minutes+, so clearly not speedruns). I have done this casually since the game came out and I enjoy it because it requires planning the fastest and most profitable path, particularly with Launchpad, as well as executing the usual strats with the game.

Would "Good Ending" be considered a 100% run for SDA purposes?

Thanks.
I don't think 100% is a suitable category for ducktales 1, I guess there would be Any%, All Treasures, and Good Ending.
I'd be interested in a Good Ending run of DuckTales 1 - go for it.

On a related note, I got the DuckTales 2 Any% record this week (9:39).
Greetings everyone from Italy. This is my first post here.

As a retrogaming enthusiast i've watched speed running of those games since AGDQ 2013, but i've never tried one. Now, after AGDQ 2015, i decided to "take the field", starting with one of the games i loved so much as a child: Duck Tales. I will post my first streamed / recorded run and i hope to race with someone of you real soon, since i'm getting nice results from my practice runs (I remember that game quite well..).

Also, I'm looking forward to starting Duck Tales 2 (both Good Ending and any%).

See you soon, maybe in the IRC channel of SRL.

Bye!

Nice work Garadas! I challenge you to beat my PB, 7.28, in which case I'll congratulate you even more!
Yeah, i'm working on it :).

Thanks anyway!
Dapper as fuck.
I've been passively interested in DuckTales, at least enough to land around 8:30s times in Easy and Difficult.  I've been watching your latest vid and am impressed, and also frustrated because I haven't nailed down the Dracula Duck quick kill or the helicopter skip ahahaha.  Smiley  Good work man.

Right there with ya.  I also get really frustrated by Squeaks McDuck (the boss of the moon [he's adopted]).

After many runs i got a new PB, almost got yours :), 7.30. I had a very bad Duckula RNG and I accidentally pressed pause one second before the "TIME" (could have been 7.29, not less btw). I  feel i can do it :). Maybe tomorrow.

Good night everyone, here's the run:

Garadas, any tips for Rat boss, helicopter skip, and Dracula Duck?  Seems to be the only things I can't reliably do that I see you do on your vids.  Smiley

Rat boss: his moves are all RNG. It's MANDATORY to enter the room pogo jumping, this gives you a chance to trigger the quick first hit (without taking damage). The only tip i can give you is to remember that every move he makes has a "countermove" and a combo to quickly get the following hits without losing time. Yesterday I made my better moon segment (41.96 i guess), which is very close (or better? dunno..) to the WR one. you can watch that.

Helicopter skip: this might help you http://nudua.com/files/dt-heli-skip.mp4 I learned it by watching this. Stop near the ledge, then pogo jump while going forward.

Dracula Duck: Where he's going to appear is all RNG (strange huh?), just practice and learn how to hit him while he is teleporting, you can hit him twice. The ideal path is: pogo jump "inside him" -> first hit, pogo jump on the bat, pogo jump on the ground -> second hit.

Hope this helps..see ya!
Dapper as fuck.
Ahh, so Dracula Duck DOES have to still be warping in when you pogo into him for the first hit.  I thought so but wasn't sure, plus that's super hard since he has a habit of warping to the side of the room I'm not on hahah.  Thanks!
Yes, and remember that you can refill your HP by pressing select on the gamepad (at the cost of 3 mil, but who cares..)

Does that mean you have nailed down the quick kill on Magicka? I ask because my PB is a little off of yours and I can't do the Magicka quick kill (even if she cooperates) to save my life. It seems to me that Magicka and Drac Duck are pretty similar, except you don't have to make an assumption about, or react to, where Magicka shows up.

Also, thanks for the tips Garadas and congrats on your 7:27!
Dapper as fuck.
If you're talking about hitting her when she's flying around the middle of the screen then yeah, I can get it usually.  Dracula Duck I have trouble with though because he seems to purposefully spawn across the room from me and I can't get to him in time for the double hit.
Sure, I understand. I really need to commit some time to Magicka et al and then pick all of your brains a bit, because to this point my speed run strats, such as they are, have been "oh, that's how you do the moon skip" and then I just play normally.
whats up y'all just got into this game a few days ago.  now i tried the practice like crazy thing but since my question was answered really quickly last time for smb i thought id try here as well.  why is magicka a complete asshole on a decent run? i apologize for the profanity but man she is evil incarnate. that wasnt the real question lol the real one is how do you hit her in her middle pattern?  now im a new to the game and switched up to difficult after getting a feel for the game so cant damage boost into her anymore and since she really makes and breaks a run any advice would be greatly appreciative.

It's not that difficult to hit her in the middle pattern, you just have to learn where to stand, since the hit box is thin. The key to hit her is doing it while DESCENDING -> so, you must jump in front of her and calculate the distance to hit her immediately when you start descending (i also suggest not to press the d-pad when you've found the correct position -> moving only in vertical).
