I've been out of the loop in a while.  All my links are dead, but the smv for the 11:20 run is legit, but I doubt anyone can find it again :(...  It's been 4 years, but honestly I didn't have to try very hard to get 11:20.  Probably got that after playing a few hours each day for a month... It's been hazy.

Post the level times for each character, and do a comparo with my breakdown.  11:29 is decent, but I bet with a bit of luck, you can beat me :).

I may just try 1 or 2 tries and see how rusty I am :P.

Edit: I just read you fucked up and did a reset.  Then the time is very nice :).
On my second try, reached DDD in about 41000 frames...  Died on him foolishly.

SNES9x 1.43+

I felt I played horribly of course, time was >12 minutes, but I guess it isn't *that* bad for not playing for 3 years.

These links won't die.  I'll try again this week Tongue
Thanks, but I'm not so sure about that, haha.

stage 1 - 28s
stage 2 - 37s
stage 3 - 59s (too many dead pieces and the AI starts moving)
stage 4 - 29s
stage 5 - 35s
stage 6 - 58s (better luck with next pieces would have been nice, but seeing that combo is also nice)
stage 7 - 31s
stage 8 - 44s
stage 9 - 41s
stage 10 - 54s (I can see some mistakes here that could have sped up the level)
stage 11 - 32s
stage 12 - 33s
stage 13 - 68s (he's just hard)

Edit: I'm pretty sure the SDA time would be based on the stage times, so final time will probably be 9:09.
Stupid King Dedede. He's good with single combos.

Yes, a worthless avatar riding my posts.
I just played Mean Bean Machine for the first time last week and...omg. This looks TAS. o_O
Now a hit show on the CW
Enjoyed the run - stage 6 made me laugh heartily Grin
I'm going to try this once again, but I doubt I'll have a better run any time soon. This one took me a while.
This isn't really on topic, but - has anyone watched any of those arcade Puyo Puyo Tsu 100-point matches on nicovideo/youtube? Jesus they're crazy, I wish I had even half those players' skill.

I'm gonna run this (Kirby's Avalanche) sometime in the near future, I just need to get a cart.

Update: I got 11:09! I'm uploading it to my computer. Hope fully there are no difficulties or complications with uploading this, because I've got a DVD recorder that isn't always reliable.

stage 1 - 37s
stage 2 - 45s
stage 3 - 38s
stage 4 - 42s
stage 5 - 42s
stage 6 - 37s
stage 7 - 31s
stage 8 - 41s
stage 9 - 51s
stage 10 - 34s
stage 11 - 36s
stage 12 - 55s
stage 13 - 36s

Total seconds taken from each stage: 523
Total (real time): 11:09
Total (stage times added up): 9:03 although this may be incorrect

Some of the beginning stages are sloppier than usual, but the later stages for the most part are improved, and King Dedede's battle is much quicker than usual.
Nice! Only two stages >50 seconds seems really good. I've been playing through competition on the same settings myself today, and it's so hard to be consistent on all thirteen stages. I'm pretty rusty, I'm going to have to practice a lot to get good enough to challenge your time Tongue

Thank you. There's the link to it. Smiley

holy jesus i've been making attempts at this for about 6 hours and i haven't gotten one recorded that i'm satisfied with

the number of ways that the computer/randomizer fucks you over throughout the course of running is just astronomical

edit: make that 8 hours last night. and today i had a SPECTACULAR run going into kracko and then i just lost concentration completely and died Cry
Okay, finally got an (initial) run recorded.

Stage times:
1 - 32s
2 - 32s
3 - 34s
4 - 25s
5 - 32s
6 - 39s
7 - 38s
8 - 34s
9 - 44s
10 - 42s
11 - 35s
12 - 40s
13 - 40s

Adding up to 467 seconds, or 7:47.

I'm not very satisfied with the run but I'm going to submit it anyway, to get the submission ball rolling. I plan to make more attempts in the ensuing week or so. My goals are sub-7:00, no stages over 40 seconds, and at least a few under 30 seconds.
Wow, I'll admit, that's really impressive, and I've been trying to make a better run, and have been having a hard time doing that. Although, I think I got it! I just finished one. Here's my times:

1 - Poppy: 34s
2 - Wispy: 45s
3 - Kaboo: 33s
4 - Broom: 31s
5 - Squishy: 33s
6 - Lolo/Lala: 36s
7 - Bugzy: 23s
8 - Paint Roller: 35s
9 - Heavy Mole: 41s
10 - Mr. Shine/Bright: 34s
11 - Kracko: 38s
12 - Meta Knight:50s
13 - King Dedede: 30s

Total seconds taken from each stage: 463
Total (real time): 10:06
Total (stage times added up): 7:43

My math may be incorrect! I'm bad at math.

All I know is, I got really lucky. I was sitting there like "Oh man, this is going real well, I know I'm going to mess it up!" It was at Metaknight did I think I was going to lose, and my time in that stage ended up being pretty poor, but I was entitled to at least one bad time. King Dedede went way better than expected with a 30-second completion, which I didn't think would happen. My favorite was my 23-second completion of Bugzy, which makes it my fastest completion yet!
Oh, very nice, looks like I'll need to withdraw my current submission and try some more. 23 second Bugzzy is pretty awesome, he tends to ruin setups with small chains, moreso than even most of the later guys. And I definitely hear ya at thinking you're going to mess up, that's exactly what happened with my earlier Kracko incident.
I bet we'll be fighting over getting the best time in the future. That will be fun. I bet in this process, the time for this game will get lower and lower, leading to a high quality run!

I guess I'll try and submit this one, but I bet this will be beaten soon, haha.

UPDATE: I just made another run, although I doubt it's faster than mine, but it may be close. I have a ton of completions under 30 seconds, however, I have a 56 second one and a few 40s so it might be slower.

EDIT: I could have sworn there was a way to delete messages at one time. Oh well. Lol.
Yeah, I've had several runs that had almost all 20s until the middle section, and then I just fall apart. Somehow knowing that I've been having amazing luck in a run throws off my concentration. Or else the game screws me over in some way  Undecided
Just wondering, how do I record the time of this run? I originally recorded my run as 10:06, but that was me starting the time as soon as I turned on to the system, and I stopped recording as soon as King Dedede was defeated. Is this correct? I hear I start when I gain control of my character, so does that mean when I'm able to press start at the introduction, or later when I actually begin putting pieces down on my board?

For games with stage timers, those times are usually used to determine the run time. See Tetris Attack for similar timing.
I got a :17 on Wispy earlier and then right afterwards I totally botch Kabu, uggggggggggh
Man, 17 seconds! I got a 21 second completion and I thought that was good. I've never subbed 20 before.
Yeah, the puyos I was given was pretty much TAS luck, and Wispy completed his 4-row pattern without making a clear. That's the only time I've ever sub-:20'd.

Though this game is so damn frustrating to run (those times when you need a certain color to set your chain off and you don't get it for 20+ pairs - worst thing ever), I'm confident one of us will come up with an amazing run sometime with no bad stages. I'm gonna be at it for at least a little while, anyway.
Woah! Awesome game! I would really like to see the puzzle version completed as a speed run (the one on master system).
