guffaw
I'm just wondering whether using dosbox (dosbox.sourceforge.net) to run old DOS games counts as emulation (and is therefore illegal). I'm toying with the idea of writing a crude patch to get video dumps (more realistically just uncompressed frame dumps) from dosbox for the purposes of speed running old DOS games (although just FYI this is slated to be in "the next version" of dosbox, I have no idea when that will arrive).
(This is my first post here, so for those who don't know me, I've been avidly interested in the gamecube metroid speed running scene for a while, and have watched a lot of other runs; particularly enjoyed the Half Life 1 and 2 runs, the run of Deus Ex, qdqwav, Super Mario World, the Eternal Darkness run, and the various Resident Evil runs, so I'll just take this opportunity to dish out kudos to the runners in those instances.)
