I'm honestly not totally sure about speed difference between running and falling.  The truth is you want to be sliding or slide jumping almost constantly.
O Captain! My Captain!
I'm catching up Motiak Cheesy 50.422 on USA 3. I think I can get it to below 50, and I'm gonna keep filming until I do.
Hey, I'm all for you beating my time but it's gonna take some pretty precision playing.
O Captain! My Captain!
Yeah, I agree. Its gonna be pretty hard. Hahaha.
I tried adapting the way you start USA 3 to my run but I only got a 49.5 so I'm not 100% sure it's faster.  Honestly the only way I'll know is by recording it which I've been too lazy to do.

O Captain! My Captain!
Yeah, it isn't faster, actually. Well, it depends. Its kinda variable, it really depends on the speed you are going when you hit the ramp, because I can get anything from 5 to 6.2 at the foot of the spot you land at.

But no, I found a better way to do it. Kind of a cross between your way and my way. Its rather fast, if I do say so myself. 50.487 run will be up in a minute.

EDIT:
I played your run on Youtube and my new one next to eachother, and I think I know where I'm losing all my time. Its after the third and fourth noodles and the hammers up until the seesaw ramp thingies. Up until then, we're basically neck and neck.
O Captain! My Captain!

Here we are.
Looked good.  I bet you'll get in the 49s when you start going over that second rope.  I still have lots of difficulty hitting that consistently though.

O Captain! My Captain!
I managed to land it multiple times in a row before, don't quite know how though.

Edit: 50.1... ehhhhh. This game hates me.
Just wait til you're in the mid-low 49s.  I've only ever gotten a 48 twice I think.  Maybe just once.
O Captain! My Captain!
VICTORY IS MINE!

Motiak, I'm only 13 ranks off of yours now. Video will be up soon, final time is a secret :3
O Captain! My Captain!

and
You're definitely very close on USA 3 but there's a lot of tightening up to do on USA 1.  One thing I'll mention is I jump on the treadmill near the beginning because if you hit it at the right point it throws you forward like you ran on it without ever having to run on it.
O Captain! My Captain!
I don't think I'll manage anything special on USA 1 any time soon.

Soo, we may have our first IL run on our hands. Now, I need to know, how do I go about recording it? Is there anything special I need to do as opposed to a normal recording?
Willing to teach you the impossible
Hay, would you two mind adding me on XBLA? When I start on this I would like to keep track of where I fall in place.

Lol, I was not sure who that was.
O Captain! My Captain!
I presumed you would have noticed through the videos I've been posting and my gamertag popping up in that Tongue

So, anyone got any suggestions for my next level to run? Or should I continue perfecting USA 3?

In any case, what do I do for recording of an IL? The knowledge base isn't really specific about it. And also, will capture card suffice? I have a HD PVR, but no DVD recorder.
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
if you already achieved the best time for USA 3 (beating the fastest video posted) then go ahead and move to another game for now...  Personally, I think it is best if you have the top times planned in first and then start slowly improving as you get ready to submit...
Oh well I guess this was what you're talking about, good luck with everything but I haven't played this game in a very very long time, I guess if IL's were put up I might have a go at beating 1-1 as I had that record for a very long time initially, but I don't enjoy anything past the USA levels so I couldn't stand a SS run because I think the game mechanics are fairly shitty. Anyway good luck!

P.S. For capturing your run you need a capture card and you need to record in the right codec, for my rocket knight run I used a dazzle platinum, virtualdub as my recording software and huffyuv codec, the knowledge base is quite hard to understand at first reading in my opinion.
Your HD PVR should be fine, from a little reading it just seems to do the same job as a capture card, right? So it should be fine, if you have any problems I'd ask in the tech support area.
O Captain! My Captain!
Sorry for taking so long to get back to this, I've been taking a break to get 100% gamerscore on Skyrim. Got it for Christmas, which is pretty awesome.

Anyone got a suggestion for a level for me to focus on now? Or should I work on getting USA 3 even lower?

Also, when I do capture this run for the final thing, do I have to show me loading it up from the menu and stuff?
Willing to teach you the impossible
if doing an IL table no, if doing a SS yes, if doing a segmented run then only in the first segment
O Captain! My Captain!
Oh, okay, cool.
I couldn't help but see this thread, I used to be a DCC speed runner, but fell off the wagon because it got too boring, but I'd be up for running it again if there were actual records that were kept for different categories such as an SS or an IL, i've actually always thought a SS run would be fun and challenging.
O Captain! My Captain!
I've just got back into practising this again after a break, due to work, Minecraft, and practising my Rubik's Cube.

Should I try and beat Motiak's record for USA 3 on a record or how close should I get to it before it would be considered acceptable?
