O Captain! My Captain!
The way I see it, this seems like a prime candidate for speedrunning.

For those who haven't yet played it, the game is comprised of individual levels which have a timer going in all of them, and can be played with multiple players to beat your friends.

The best part about the game? It's free on XBL Arcade! Cheesy

Thats the trailer for it.

Lemme know what you guys think about it, I'm gonna attempt some runs of the first few levels.

SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
Could have sworn we had talked about this game already, however it turns out it was an entirely different article...
http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/microsoft_releases_two_free_xbla_games_with_netplay.html

Heaven Forbid we go off the Leadboard times since I don't know how many people beat the stage within a 100th of a second, but for ILs  I'm sure you can generate some interest from the community and perhaps see for a collaboration for the stages in the game...  Other than that, I would highly recommend checking around youtube as alot of people has already posted some really good times thus far and would be a good start to see what would be needed...
Yeah, some of those leader board times are... Yeah.

Alright, so I've decided to focus on the USA levels for the time being.
Here's the times I've accumulated so far in practices.
USA1: 0:29.938
USA2: 0:49.310
USA3: 0:55.451
USA4: 0:58.898
I've basically just been trying to see how far down in the ranks I can go, all of those are below 18k, the USA3 one is like, 8k.

*im on iPod, hence white name*
Alright, USA5 is exponentially harder to run than the rest of them, simply because of the end of it. Damn mallets.

Out of interest, if you do a single segment of one whole stage, like, just USA, would that be warrantable for its own category?
My feelings on The Demon Rush
No, if you did a single-segment, you would have to run every stage.

ILs or SS... A Segmented run here is very unlikely...

Anyway, I decided to fish some videos really fast...

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0C2F726E77BB7F42

I know there are alot more I can find, however I'm in class and my laptop is low on battery so I'll find more in a bit...

Point is that if you decide to make ILs or get help with ILs, you are going to need to beat these times set by people on youtube...

(more later today)
@mik, what I mean is like, would there be a category for a run of an entire stage, a opposed to individual levels or the entire game
O Captain! My Captain!
Alright, I've decided I'm definitely going to attempt to do this single segment. Mainly because beating individual levels on this is incredibly hard. I've come close on USA3 and EURO1, but the rest are all terrible.
Waiting hurts my soul...

This seems like a bad reason to do single segment. I don't know how long you've been practicing on your own, but it's only been a day since you posted here. It's obviously going to take you longer than that to match or beat the world records. Even if you're a second or two off, it may be enough to make the initial IL table. Also, it's good practice for a single segment.
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
Well Hex, I wish you the best of luck during your SS attempts...  Just keep in mind to hang on to all your attempts since they could be good to use for ILs, and who knows?  You could generate enough interest to have SDA work on the ILs with you...

Creeping till marathon is over, then I will get in on this

O Captain! My Captain!
^ lol

Alright, I've got USA 1 to 4 down pat. USA 5 on the other hand... it's all fine until the end bit, I can't beat it in a reasonable time. You can slide jump over the part where you usually take a fan, but I can't seem to make it work. Guess I'll have to practise that then. On USA 1-4 I've got ranked 3k and below now, so I'm quite happy with that. It'd end up being about 2.4 or maybe even 1.8 without all the non-legit scores people have gotten.

Anywho. For those wanting to attempt to run this, or parts of this, the biggest and probably best speedrunning trick is slide jumps. Most people only think that you can do it coming off of a slope, which is true, but you can also slide anywhere else, except for treadmills and moving platforms. So that basically means you can slide on regular ground and the see saws. Using that you can get a lot faster, being able to jump over gaps you wouldn't be able to and clear certain obstacles and stuff.

The reason I say that I won't be able to beat the IL times, is because some of them are just... insane. I can get them down to within two or 1 seconds, but then can't get them any lower.
Willing to teach you the impossible
Other players of this game know just how tough some of the tricks really are. So if you do end up short a bit you should be fine. But if your like WAY off (5 or more seconds for example) then keep at it.

BS scores or XBLA are SOOOO STUPID!!!! WHY DO PPL DO THAT SHIT!!!!

Ok, I got it out of me. Best thing to do is post your times/vids here. Just saying that you are good enough at them really tells us nothing. Providing solid info helps other help you. That is the purpose of the forum.
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
true enough heidrage on both counts...  Granted who knows?  You could do enough good ILs with fellow members to submit it that way later...  All the same Hex, use this time to get a head start... Once Heidrage gets in, your chances will drop sharply... >_<
O Captain! My Captain!
Haha Tongue

All the same, can I nominate to do USA 3 and Europe 1? They're my best levels by far.

If you set the best time out of anyone else, then I don't see why not...  I need to get practicing myself...  I have a bad tendency of planning too many runs and getting none of them done...
O Captain! My Captain!
We need to be aiming to beat the times set by HST big panda. I'll copy out some of them into the thread.
USA 1: 0:29.000
USA 2: 0:45.832
USA 3: 0:51.766 *I have this down to 52.328 or something*
USA 4: 0:52.439
USA 5: 1:02.051
Europe 1: 1:00.792
Europe 2: 1:01.341
Europe 3: 1:03.453
Europe 4: 1:09.086 *however there is a score of 1:07.057 in the corner by his friend*
Europe 5: 1:35.684
Japan 1: 0:59.706
Japan 2: 1:00.880
Japan 3: 1:19.080
Japan 5: 1:15.645

Waiting hurts my soul...
what happened to Japan 4?

Edit: I mean, it's not even on the list. Just because Big Panda doesn't have a time doesn't mean there's no best time posted somewhere.
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
Well that should be obvious Zenic, This Big Panda never posted his time for Japan 4 (or never recorded it)...  Still, these videos do set a good bar to beat, and once they are beat, that would be a good enough for a submittion... Maybe...
O Captain! My Captain!
Yeah, BP didn't have a video up. Although, theres bound to be a time for us to beat, because of the achievement Sore Wa Ketan Desu or whatever its called.

O Captain! My Captain!
http://www.youtube.com/user/Kagehikki?blend=11&ob=5 is another HST guy who has some... rather good times. Albeit, he's lacking in a good recording setup.

EDIT= Japan 4:

EDITEDIT= I've knocked down USA3 to 52.220. I'm quite happy with that, I reckon I can get it to 51.xxx
I was looking at my Youtube analytics and saw my video was embedded in here.  There's four of us who have all the records for every map on DCC.  Good luck breaking them.
O Captain! My Captain!
Wanna help out with some of the IL's?
I'm honestly not 100% sure how this site works (I'm not sure what ILs are) but are you asking for tips or did you want me to record some videos?  I've only got a video camera so the quality on videos isn't great.  I have videos on youtube for USA 1, 2, 3/Europe 2/All Japan that I believe are faster than any other videos out there though.  They aren't actual records other then Japan 2 but they're the fastest recordings that I know of.
Willing to teach you the impossible
IL (Individual Level) = a single stage, just like the videos you have posted.
SS (Single Segment) = Doing all stages in a single recording.

Motiak, if you would be willing to put forth the effort in recording for SDA, you would need to have a capture card or dvd recorder to capture directly from the console. Sorry, but only Nintendo DS runs can be recorded on cam. If you are interested in going about it though, there are plenty off ppl around here that can help you get set up nicely.

Any info, tips, tricks that you can explain for any stage would be amazing. As I said before, I wanna get in on this once the marathon is over and I have some time. Any info is good info.
