I personally thought the ending sucked.. I was going to do it, but when I'm in hell fighting last guy those meteor showers lock my comp up.. I'd have to find a real fast way of killing him before my comp locks.
yeah thats true... I never had enough ammo for that thing. You only Have enough when you find that thing, after that it seems there is a problem with the ammo supply....
Ok, I figure this is going to be a short game.. So here are the ups, and downs. Ups: Only 12 Levels. Probably wont even be half as long as Doom3. Way smaller file size. SoulCube, and berserker is replaced by a demon heart/relic, which slows down time, and makes you way stronger. It also feeds off dead people's souls. It only needs 1 to be used, and you can have three at a time.
Downs: No soulcube Wont be able to use the relic to heal myself. Probably wont be able to use the shotgun to death because of lack of ammo, and the double barreled shot gun just makes things worse in that way. No chainsaw Not one berserker.
I'm going to try and get at least the first level done tonight, and post it.
if you beat the 3rd "boss" the strange artefakt works like the berserker mode. Means, you do more damage (quad to be exact), time slows down and your in "God" mode.
and Sl-Mo is can be usefull to... i mean enemys arent THAT fast.
Besides that useless comment, I don't recall the Super Shotgun even being all that USEFUL in the first place. Sure, it's amazing with the Quad Damage boost, but it's hardly nessecary. I do think though that the run could really benefit from nice use of the Artifact since corpses are shrewn all over the place, and it's not like you actually lose time activating it. I imagine a speed run of Doom 3 ROE to just be immensely easier just because of the Artifact...
The "Über Shotgun" isnt necessary. In combintaion with the artifact it simply blows most things out of the way without real trouble. The Normal Shotgun is still useful. Imps are crawling all over the place. And theyr a little more powerfull "borthers", with the green plasma flying thingies. They dont take that much damage too.
Argh im telling people once more stuff they already know... im off to sleep....
Heh.. I got the first level done.. Too bad the sound dysynched. I think it was because I used 30 fps instead of the 29.97 that I used for doom3.
Anycase, I guess I have to redo that one.. I really fuggin hate those flying skulls..
John Carmack: instead of the ever so annoying lost souls, why don't stick some even more annoying buring flying heads, that have horns, and annoy the shit out of you even more.
Some other jackass ID employee: Great idea! I'll get right on it!
I guess it isn't so bad when you can use the grav gun to kill them.
Ok, redid it again.. Sound tried to desynch again.. Only difference is, it goes back.. I think it's because too much crap is going on at once.. Those damn skull things are really annoying..
The only way to stop the sound problem is to kill off every single one of them.
btw - the sound problem is basically at the end, but only for a tiny bit of time.
Heh.. I got the first level done.. Too bad the sound dysynched. I think it was because I used 30 fps instead of the 29.97 that I used for doom3.
29.97 is for NTSC TV signals. When capturing on a computer you can use whatever you want. Since it's such a cpu intense game, how about trying only 20 fps?
Ok.. I tried with 20. It was not only hard to play with my fps being capped at 20, but it still desynched.. I then tried lowering all the details, and it still did it.. Thing is, when the settings were all at low, my comp ran completely smooth, even with fraps running.
I don't understand why it's doing this.. I can only think of 1 thing that might help, but doubt it, and that would be a reboot..
My comp stays on for days at a time, but never had this problem with Doom3.
OK! I found the problem! The problem is Fraps 2.6.4... I unistalled it, and re-installed 2.6.1 and the desynching crap is gone.. Least it seems so..
I used 2.6.1 for Doom 3, I then updated it.. I'm going to email the person who made fraps, and let him know about this issue.
Err, I didn't mean to limit the game's fps to 20. I just meant to set fraps to record at 20. That way the game still runs as fast as it can but fraps only tries 20 times a second to get a frame. If you frame advance through your d3 run you'll see that many frames are duplicates because fraps wasn't able to get the 30 fps you asked it to get ... so you might as well do 20 instead. Or you could try 24 or 25.
Thats what I did, but when you set the frames to record at, it also likes to cap the game at that. The fps counter usually stay pretty much on the frame number that it's set to record at.
Edit - I don't think I get more then 25 fps when playing with fraps on anyway, so I'll just record at that.
