(Formerly: Are you allowed to request speedruns?)

Are you? Because if it is allowed, I would like to request a speed run of Donkey Kong Land, with all the bonuses found, and all K-O-N-G letters collected.
Thread title:
give me your eyes!!!
Yes technically but it tends to irritate people if you request in a nagging fashion and give no input.

If it's because you cannot record for some reason, you are entitled to want to but it is solely up to the person doing it.

I don't have the game, so I won't... progress!

While you CAN ask for a speedrun, it's frowned upon. Asking someone nicely is not going to get a run done. I'm pretty sure that every runner here has a list full of future games they want to do, I know I do. If you have the game and a GBP, why not try yourself? Though, I doubt the K-O-N-G letters would count for anything and would end up wasting your time.
Collecting the Kong Letters enables you to save your game, if you wish to do it in seperate segments like the DKC3 run. And, this game is waaaay too hard for me, I'd probably end up with about half an hour of really stupid mistakes.
give me your eyes!!!
Practice makes a speedrun. It is far more fulfilling to accomplish it yourself so give it a go! There have been many moments in various games done fast, for me and i'm sure many others, that seem almost impossible but are easy with time.

Never say a game's too hard to speed run. I thought that when I chose Metal Slug X to be my first game to run and now I'm on my way to beating it SS with no deaths.
I was once a treehouse
I could do it.. I was practicing the first world for a speedrun a few weeks ago. My best time single segment wat 7:16 for world 1 but I didn't find all the secrets (I do know them). If more people would want to see this run I'll do it. A friend of mine has a GBP so i could borrow it for taping.
Well, obviously I'd like to see it. Of course I can do a run of the game, however, it would probably take about five 4-hour-recordable VHS's Long Play (which makes 8 hours per VHS), with a total runtime of 40 hours, which is totally not a speed run. The reason I think it would probably take this, is because I am just not quick. I'm the sort of person that, if there's a rock coming out of the caves in the mountain levels, or falling down a gap, I 'have' to wait for the next rock, because... I'm just so slow.
give me your eyes!!!
The point in speedrunning is plannig the most effective/efficient route. In which canse, you would time your movements to avoid that rock, rather than spontaneously deciding to wait for it.
Of course some quick-thinking is required, but that all comes from knowledge of the game.
Think about it and give speedrunning a go.
I was once a treehouse
this run should not take longer than 1 hour..

If you want to pick up speed running, pick a game you REALLY enjoy.  I think I spent three months of on and off practicing for my DKC2 run and I never thought I'd pull it off.  Granted, I still managed to miss like 3 warp barrels that I didn't find until months after I finished my run.  D'oh.

The Kong letters wouldn't be nessecary for 100% completion unless it actually tracks it in a status menu or something.

Speaking of DKC3...

Oh yeah.  Four more bloody days until I start tackling this one.  Unlike DKC1 this WILL make the site.  Too bad I lost the cartridge for DKC and all... bah.

Ack, more guests.

Ha, only 11 hours for Europe.
