very proud of this time, it took me so long to finally get that double crate skip, but I can still do so much better with the pogo. My mind just explodes, it's so much to internalize and execute. i've never really time attacked a platforming game before and this game is designed so well for it.

it's going to be absolutely amazing seeing someone pull off an RTA with all shiny golds. It definitely will not be me lol. I feel they made a lot of these levels more demanding then DKCR from what I can tell.

so what do people think the hardest levels have been so far?

Hello guys, the second I pre-ordered the game, I wanted to learn it. But now that I have it, I have major troubles, especially with the world 1 boss. Can someone please help me with this problem? I have never beaten a DOC game and now I wanna show my old self up.

I like autocorrect -_-
I also want to learn, but it seems that the first post would only work is yours using a old save file witch dose not work if someone is trying for single segment with a new file.
unless that is if you wanted to spend time at the shop to buy the partner barrels but that would waste time right?

I'll try… to comprehend what you just said
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
The first post is a little confusing. That just points out what the record time was and which character they used. I need to update it, but that pretty much points out the preferred character for each level. You don't have to buy kongs from the shop for the purpose of a single segment run. If one level says it uses Dixie, then the next says it uses Cranky, that likely means you just to Cranky when you find a barrel. I'll edit the first post at some point to reflect the changing between Buddy Kongs throughout the game in a Single Segment.

Quick update Smiley

4-A - Rockin' Relics - 0:59.27 - Diddy

Maybe a couple more vids later, we'll see.

That was a sexy run Cryptic! Nicely done, congrats!

The first post is explaining the route and optimal partner to have in a single segment new game any% run, works fine. Though it is a great idea to have a finished file to practice on because this game is not easy to say the least.

Critic's video was a great success with sub 1 minute. I have to remember that water skipping, is it possible as sissy only?

Cryptic, Diddy,  im sorry

I refined 2-2 to a 1:33:01 using rambi. The crate boost jump is more tricky with rambi for sure, since you have to start a run cycle before boosting I believe. I doubt I'll go back to this level for awhile even though I made some very obvious mistakes, definitely a tough level to blast through.

Major props to Nahashing for pioneering all of these levels, his 2-2 is simply beautiful.

Couple of new ones

4-2 High Tide Ride - 2:04.87

4-K Spinning Spines - 0:48.97

Jellobeaver: Skipping on water is possible with all characters. Also top right of your posts is an edit button. Should probably use that when AC fights against you Tongue
Probably a silly question, but does anyone know the extent to which jumping while pulling something from the ground (ie, the things needed to trigger some platforms/barrel cannons in 1-1) speeds it up? It's obvious that it does speed it up slightly, but I've gotten the impression it only does so after the first "jump." I see some players constantly pressing the jump button in the leaderboards, so I was just a bit curious if anyone had a definitive answer to that. I did a rough timing of it earlier but it wasn't very conclusive, but I figured this might be known already.

Still not 100% on that. Gimme a bit I will do some timing on 1-A.
EDIT: Oops, I knew I said I was going to do something >_>
Uhhh. Here.

6-1 Homecoming Hijinxs - 49.97 - Cranky

I currently have WR in 3-1, 3-A, and 4-K. I've ordered a capture card to start streaming / recording. This is the first game I've ever seriously gotten into speedrunning, let alone near launch, so I have some questions as to how this goes down. How long until full length speedruns start being taken seriously for WR? Is there any sort of leaderboard spreadsheets that will be created? Is there a way to meet other TF runners aside from this thread and twitch / youtube stalking?

I regret everything I said there, I'm terrible at this game, and I will most likely never finish this game. At least I Tried

it's less a question of how long and more how good the run is. if a run is anything above about 2:00, it's not going to be seriously seen as a world record, especially not when so few people are at the stage where they're able to put together a full run.

there will be leaderboards created at some point, but again it'll only happen once there are more people capable of finishing runs. give it a week or two, perhaps.

finally, and as a reminder to everyone else who is considering or is already running the game, we have a skype group going; if you'd like to join in, please PM me your skype details and I'll add you.
Load times: when comparing them, don't forget to test the differences between physical, digital and a fast external hard drive.

Since I haven't seen it mentioned yet, it's worth pointing out that pause buffering does work in time attack, I've used it to get some first frame rolls in boss stages before.
I noticed that spikevegeta had difficulty with consistently landing the 4 bounces on 5-B  Jammin Jams. I wanted to post that they changed the timing window since DKCR. You can now input the jump button AFTER you have already bounced off an enemy.  There is a period of time in the ascending part of the new bounce when you can press A to upgrade the bop into a high bounce.  The timing window is quite large, so if you condition yourself to press A after, for example, you hear the bounce sound effect from the wii mote, you can consistently land boosted jumps without killing momentum as dixie or diddy.

While the timing window is quite large it is obviously shorter than the time it takes to reach the short bounces full height.  Hope this helps. Was playing around in DKCR today and this was definitely not possible in returns.
Did some World 1 IL attempts last week and man, this game is just fantastic. Looking forward to learning the full game once I get back from vacation.

You actually don't need to do that. I took WR using a seemingly slower method. I don't lose time because I don't have to wait for the fruit crushers later on, I just roll through.

Rolls have enough a buffer on them that it isn't really necessary. So far the only ILs I've encountered worth the effort pause buffering in is the rocket barrel ones
