Well, if he's willing to slow down a couple moments on a level to trigger the DK on a barrel, he could possibly pound out 15 banana coins for only a couple seconds of time... if he doesn't have enough.

The difficulty of course is that you then have to start resetting if you don't get it.

There are a bunch of levels that have it timed so when you come in real fast it's at the DK logo by default. I just go for all of these, 1/3 or 4 in the first half of the game, hasnt failed me yet but it probably will eventually -.-

yes you can do that with the slotmachine barrel but the luck manipulation can be annoying

but its awesome idea with the potion i will test this in the future

okay guys my best single segment is 1:56:31 now

i have tested with the potion in boulder roller and furious fire and it is extreme useful thanks CrypticJacknife

with this and perfect strats without dying we can easily sub 1:50

and CrypticJacknife if you like we can race against each other at speedrunslive

K, so let's address a pretty obvious issue in running this game in any category but any% >_>

100% game-defined is: All Jigsaw Pieces, All K-O-N-G Letters, Golden Temple Completed (naturally, requires all Golden Temple orbs)
200% game-defined is: All of the Above + Mirror Mode All Levels

Note that the T.A medals don't count towards percentage in any way, but will still fill your file's slot with the corresponding lowest medal acquired (including no medal).

My best guess is that categorizing will go the same as the original DKC games right? All xxx% categories would be game-defined to my attention. If it would be anything otherwise, let me know. I just (personally) REALLY don't want to have any% (beat game) and 100% (200% in-game), because lord knows that would be very poopy, and possibly make a 100% never come, because I mean, let's be honest, Mirror Mode would be a cheap and to the inexperienced player boring end to a run Tongue

okay here it is see the description on youtube for the level comments i know the quality is bad and the run can be improved i hope i can buy in the future a dvd recorder which can record wii games and maybe i improve this run in the future

sorry double post but with the definitions it is a little bit different the jigsaw pieces didn´t count in the 100% it means the 100%(101%) definition is just all levels including golden temple and the kong letters

and for 200% it is all kong letters all levels including golden temple and mirror mode i don´t know if the jigsaw pieces count to 200% but i think so and its right the TA medals didn´t count to anything but we can choose different categories

200% with bronze medal
200% with silver medal
200% with gold medal
200% with shiny gold medal (the real 200% definition imo)

sorry double post but with the definitions it is a little bit different the jigsaw pieces didn´t count in the 100% it means the 100%(101%) definition is just all levels including golden temple and the kong letters

and for 200% it is all kong letters all levels including golden temple and mirror mode i don´t know if the jigsaw pieces count to 200% but i think so and its right the TA medals didn´t count to anything but we can choose different categories

Enjoy it ecko. Once I get a bunch of shit on my end sorted, I am definitely makin a comeback into DKCR, it's long overdue =) But until then, just wait for a response here ^_^

I decided to play this great game after several months of not playing and I'm thinking of doing an any% speedrun for it. I spent a little bit of time practicing world 1 and this is the result:

According to the timing in the first post the time for this world 1 run is ~9:10.

I made a slight change to the route by not picking up Diddy in 1-1 as it makes the first half of 1-2 much easier (less chance of having to wait several seconds for the wheels).

Now I need to begin practicing the other worlds (which will take a while) and gaining overall consistency and avoiding bad mistakes on every level like I have for world 1.

I don't plan on doing any full runs though until I have a capture card, so it will probably be a couple of months before I start producing some full results.

Thanks! It would be great to have some competition as it would give me that extra bit of motivation.

In terms of preparation for an any% run, things are progessing quicker than I expected. I have the first 4 worlds pretty much memorised now so it's just about getting the other worlds down and being able do beat every level reasonably well in one go.

I did a test run of worlds 1-4 and luckily I managed to do the whole lot without dying on my first try. I recorded the splits of this test run which are:

9:12.28
20:09.35
29:13.14
37:44.55

There were several mistakes in each world (and 3-B was a complete disaster) but I'm satisifed with being nearly 3 minutes ahead of Ecko's 1:46 after world 4 on my first try. I might work on my consistency for the first 4 worlds before moving on to world 5, which is definitely going to be much more of a challenge.

yes world 5 is a beast the execution of packattacks strats on this levels are very hard

keep it up i think you can beat 1:40 definitely and have you played through the route of crypticjacknife or have you an own route

for example to use the juices in 6-4 and 8-1
