The most significant trick is probably the first one. It lets you get from the top of Crocodile Isle to the Helm lobby with DK. This brings us one step closer to a 0 GB, 0% run. We would only need two things:
  • A way to the top level of Crocodile Isle with DK.
  • A way into Helm with DK, Lanky, or Chunky. My old method to get into Helm early would probably work. EDIT: Yep, it works.
There are a few other ways we could accomplish a 0 GB, 0% run:
  • Aztec lobby early with DK. I've worked on this quite a bit with no luck.
  • Castle lobby early. How to even look for this trick is anyone's guess.
  • K. Rool early without keys 3 and 8. Once again, I don't know how this would be done.
  • Beat Dogadon 2 with DK. I actually had a theory about how to do this by causing the barrels to spawn at the wrong times, but I couldn't get it to work. If we had some way to use oranges or the bongo during the battle, maybe we could damage him.

So is no one working on a NMS route anymore? I'd really like to be able to start working on a run ASAP, but I need a route to do so. I could try to work on the route but I would need some help to do that obviously.

I don't think anyone is working on a route right now. Toes' partial route seems like a good place to start if you're planning on doing a run.

In case anyone thinks that the loading zone for Creepy Castle's Lobby is inside that huge canon's rock next to K. Rool's ship, then this should prove otherwise:

It's been known for quite awhile that the loading zone isn't there until K. Lumsy destroys the rock. That's why some were looking for the loading zone in OoB areas around DK Isles.
Nice work cfox. I will watch your run after you post it to make sure that there aren't any tricks that I know that you aren't using considering you are closer to pulling this run off than I am right now.

What happens if you exit a level with Rambi?  Anything exciting?  Or do you just get DK back.

Nice find. I didn't think of skid jumping with Rambi. I played around in the main area and it seems that Rambi can't use loading zones. I made a video with some Rambi stuff (#3, #4, and #5):

Here's My 101% run (finally) Had alot of trouble with encoding and uploading to Youtube so I had to split it into a couple parts so here is the first one at least

I watched up to the end of Frantic Factory so far.
- The route that you are using is pretty out of date. I am quite certain that it is faster to avoid going out of your way for 15GB's and just break into factory. There are conistent strats for the orange and the long jump method.

- The gate didn't stay open because you didn't trigger an auto save(or manually save) before exit-warping. Hit the switch before you buy the upgrades to avoid any issues. Not that I think of it I wonder if saving the game after opening the grate above the battle crown pad will allow you to exit-warp there without it being closed again(btw its random thoughts like this that keep getting in the way of me actually settling on a final route).

- Primate punch doesn't do any extra damage against the toy monster. You are better off just using a combination of spin attacks/regular punches.

- You don't need to moonkick to reach the floating barrel in the Aztec lobby. A simple kick off the top area(or preferably a moontail) work just as well. The timing for the moontail is kinda tricky but if you practice it enough you will eventually be able to get in quick consistently.

- When shooting the balloon behind the llama temple try to spread the coconuts out a little more instead of just using rapid fire(I would shoot once/wait half a second and shoot again then repeat.)

If any of this can be done with boulders this is potentially useful, especially the storage trick that doesn't require water. This can be done on explosive barrels versus Army Dillo but there seems to be no point.
