Why did it get removed? I thought it was cool because it shows how long members have been around for, and I thought it had funny names lol. If it was because it looked too "unprofessional" or something along those lines, i say you should just make it 1 star, 2, star, 3 star, etc. because most forums have a thing like that.

And maybe even make the post-range alot wider so that you really know whos been around for a while lol, cuz some people had double the max posts for being a master donkey diddler.

Thats actually a good idea, one rank for posts and the other for runs on SDA.

Put stars regarding posts like this (1 star=1, 2 star=100, 3 stars = 250, 4 stars= 500, 5 star =1000, then like 5 golden stars= 2000+)

And then the running guy on the SDA logo below that based on how many runs you've done for SDA (e.g one runnin guy=1 run, 2=2 3=3 etc.) and then maybe you could click on each running guy to get a link to the run that that person did omg i'm genius

Am I the only one that wants it back? Maybe a poll could decide?

Juice: Taking down the ranks had nothing to do with being unprofessional, we just don't believe in them. I wouldn't mind reinstating donkey ranks for how many runs you've done though Grin

Removing the ranks has nothing to do with professionalism, duh. Besides the obvious (rewarding spamming), it's because people should evaluate a post on its content, not the seniority of the person who said it (which has absolutely nothing to do with quality of poster). Some people are really addicted to stats, which is the only reason we even display them when you click on the profile. It's a compromise.

I'm against ranks for how many runs you've done. The goal shouldn't be to get your name onto SDA as much as possible. Who's that TG guy with like the 4000 world records? Haha.

The thing is though, if your run isn't good enough it won't get onto SDA...

Also, would it really be a bad idea? I mean it would kinda encourage people to do runs in a way as well.

I agree with Enhasa about ranking for number of runs (as opposed to awesomeness of runs) being a bad idea. I do think it'd be cool to be able to view what runs someone has done from their profile, though. Actually, I don't get why people don't all stick links to their runs in their sigs.

For what it's worth, I'm also against ranks for number of runs. For me it's what Enhasa said about ranking for posts, a higher rank indirectly implies seniority, which doesn't mean posts are automatically high quality. I just don't see any reason for something like that being put into place.

I dunno, I kind of see the encouragement factor to not be very large here. Yeah, maybe you'd get a few people here and there that would like to have higher ranks, but really if you're that into self-satisfaction you'd generally get more of it by having your name on the front page than to be considered a slightly more decorated donkey diddler in the forum's eyes.

and yeah, let's not do this. danger is both in people reading posts by people with omg starz and also people writing posts knowing they will have omg starz. it's pandora's box.

you know i was about to say i didn't bother recreating the ranks when the smf converter ate them but now i'm not so sure, i may have actually just deleted them. but that seems incredible because it was less than a year ago and if it were today i wouldn't have deleted them and surely i'm not so different today than i was less than a year ago ...

lol, I got rid of them. I forget exactly what prompted it but going rankless is something I always wanted to see happen. I was going to say m2k2 gave me inspiration but I know that's not true because I just checked and m2k2 has stars, hah. I don't think I can come up with another forum without postcount or rank. Feels nice.

Then again, I don't know any others with optional accounts but also guest posting either.
