According to a couple searches, there's no thread for this. Somehow, I'm not surprised...
Anyway, this is a rather unique adventure/platformer for PS2 in which you play as a fairly realistic looking dog doing sort of realistic looking dog things. In normal gameplay, you need to collect bones to advance from area to area. The recent skips I found destroy all of that, though:

Roytjaah found the second one independently of me. After a couple runs, I've got a (terrible) time of 26:47. I believe with better management of stamina and quicker Minniwahwah early, the game can reach sub-20.

Edit: Just got a 23:29. Much better luck and execution, but lost 2 minutes at the end.

The main improvements I can see being possible are a new, easier Minniwahwah early and a way into Miss Peaches' house without rescuing the dogs.

Speed Running in Robotnik's Basement
I want to revive this. I was playing the game today, with a "new" PS2 (it is used....but ours broke), and I was thinking "Ok...I WANT to run something, why not a game I really like, and this game COULD have some crazy glitches!"
Seems I am correct. I thought this game would be, about...45 minutes at best. But 22?!
Hopefully I can figure out this game just like you did, and bring it back to life, as it WAS one of my more favorite childhood games.

I do have a question about this game, however.
Is smellingvision faster than 3rd person? Or do you just like being in the smellingvision. I mean, I understand if it is required for the skips, but just running around to get to the next location. Mainly the Dog Pound, as being in smellingvision during the key chase would give me a heart attack.

Hopefully you reply back to this. Or not, it doesn't really matter. I'll be testing this myself tomorrow, seeing for sure if I can handle the Dog Pound.

--Edit--
Well, the Minniwahwah Early and Pound Early is not as easy as it looks, I learned. However, I did get an understanding on how to get the Minniwahwah Early. The Pound...not so much.

You see...I soft Locked the game. I jumped over to the fence, but the dog to bark (I wasn't able to jump over the catcher) Long story short, Jake would NOT move back to the road, and I was stuck. It doesn't matter in the long run, as the run would have been over anyways.

Hopefully I will be able to get a way to record the game, so I can actually play the game and have an actual run for it.
Even if the record is almost unbeatable, I still think a 19 COULD be possible if EVERYTHING works right on the first time.  (The record is 20 minutes)
Glad I found this thread--I was almost about to start a new one thinking it didn't exist.

Anyway, I remember finding the Roytjaah run a few months ago and thinking "Hey this might be a cool run." Guess I just forgot about it until a few weeks ago. But I'm glad you're interested in this too, SpeedyMisty. Means I won't have to go it alone haha. I think I'll get started on this tonight so we can hopefully share experiences.
Speed Running in Robotnik's Basement
My experience...Pound Early is MEAN!

I don't know what I am doing wrong, but I cannot seem to be able to get it right. Not at all. Maybe I am not doing something right...
I'll be watching his run again to figure it out.

Also, in doing the Minniwahwah early, I found that pointing your noise (in smellervision) where the arm chair meets with the cushion give the best results. And after you GET to Minniwahwah, eat two foods.

->Get to the Centre and get Minniwahwah early glitch. Might take about 3 to 5 minutes of tries if you are lucky (more if you happen to trigger the long animation of the Parlor)
->Head to the Ski Slopes once you manage to get to Minniwahwah. Eat the food in the dog dish and head into the cabin with the girl's jacket. There is a box in there as well. Tip it over and you might get some more food to help with your stamina. Continue as normal. (might take about 2 to 4 minutes, give or take Jake wanting to jump and such)

Then...the Pound Early. I have yet to fully complete Pound Early, so my own notes stop from here. Once I finally manage to get to a run in, I'll record it with my pitiful camera so I could at least show my progress. Sadly, I have no real way to record my run yet, as I am dirt poor and cannot afford a capture card and the likes...

But I can hook up my mother's laptop in the TV. I wounder if that'll help?

I am VERY glad you are interested in running this, Burningsoup. I was worried I would be the ONLY person willing to run the game.
So, I just opened up my stream for a casual run to practice the tricks and I ended up with a 20:00. So... I think I just got world record. You can check it out here:

I do feel a little bad claiming world record, because my luck was awesome, but my execution left a lot to be desired. In the early levels there were times when I was hardly paying attention, so I would move the stick wrong or stand still for half a second after a new map loaded.

Then, of course, for the second half of the game I got all excited about being on world record pace so I became terribly sloppy. You can actually see where I put the controller down at the end of the Big Machine because I thought the wrench went in. As soon as I realized it didn't, I picked it up and proceeded to miss again. Guess they really threw a... wrench... in the works.

Now then... OBSERVATIONS!

-This game can definitely be finished in under 19:45. If you hit every skip first try and optimize the movement, 19:45 is definitely doable.
-It's possible to go into Minniwahwah in good condition. Sometimes you'll do Minniwahwah Early and come out the other side unharmed. But it seems entirely random. IF this happens, you have the benefit of 1) getting to the ski lodge faster and 2) not needing to detour to the dog bowl.

That's all I've got for now. I'm going to keep working on getting sub-20!

I come with good tidings to say that a sub-20 is not only feasible, it is now the reality!

Theatrics out of the way, I just got a 19:21. Basically at this point requirements for WR mean you have to get every skip first try, but I hit some snags in the Big Machine, so we can still shave seconds.

You can watch the run here: http://www.twitch.tv/burningsoup/c/4768659

EDIT: So... I don't know how we missed this, but all the cutscenes between areas are skippable. All you have to do is hold all the face buttons and you can skip them. Note: this doesn't work on the smaller cutscenes like Jake talking to the Coat Girl and stuff like that... just the big ones. But really, those are the ones that matter. This is about a 4-minute time saver... I just broke my own world record again without even trying.
