So I just had my first playthrough of the game, and it seems like a very interesting game to route for, and will likely start routing for the game soon, is anyone else interested in running the game and/or already routing for it?
The most interesting way to run it in my opinion would be low chaos, while high chaos might be fun as well, i'll likely start routing for high chaos first though.
Thread title:
I've only beaten the first real mission but I'd say the chances of me trying to do some runs of this are pretty high. Of course I've only just started so I don't know how much high/low chaos would affect things but as of yet I'm mostly interested in a ghost run.

A high chaos run would be much faster, just hack through everyone (since most opponents can be one/twoshotted) or just shoot everyone, while a low chaos has to be semi-stealthy (might end up being a run through everyone without killing them, not entirely sure if it's only kills that increase chaos)

EDIT:
So after doing a 2nd playthrough focused on routing, I feel like the any% time for this game is going to be around 1h20m, probably less as i find better routes.
The main thing I noticed though, as I ran through the game past everything while holding an empty cup of care, I still got a LOW CHAOS result, so i feel like the only other catagories that could be ran is ghost (which is super slower) and nonlethal, the nonlethal one looks pretty interesting as you'd have to do a couple of sidequests to ensure that your assassination targets can be dealt with in a nonlethal way.
Chaos is increased by kills, being spotted, bodies being discovered, and doing missions in lethal ways.

I can say right now that if do get a Dishonored speed run, it is going to be mimicing another game that has alot to do with assassinations: Hitman.  Stealth is important, but I doubt it will be faster.  I can easily see that with the right set up, this stealth game can turn into a FPS.

well, I just sprinted through all the levels, killed an average of 5 people per level + assassinated my target, and still got the low chaos ending Sad
The game has some crazy potential. Especially blink and agility (both lvl 2), with them combined i reached spots i shouldnt have and had some nice shortcuts. One time i slipped as a fish through a gate and then opened it from the other side, but that was no mainquest - it was the gate near the pub where Samuel always waits. I tried the same trick with rats near the end when you have to get the sewer key but that didnt work.
So i completed the game in 10 hours, but i wasted a lot of time and tried to kill as few as possible and always had a low chaos rating. But if you rush through the game, it could be extremely fast (you dont even need anything else than blink and agility imo.)
you don't even need agility, only blink 2 and i found 2 routes that are faster if you can control a rat or a fish, it seems you're only going to need 5 runes for an any%, most of which are basically donated by the game.
I can't wait to see a run of this game, should be pretty quick. I read that which Lady Boyle is the target is random, so that should be fun running in there having a 1/3 chance of success.

It'd be a shame imo if the most straightforward routes were always the fastest. I hope there's some room for creativity in this run. Tongue With a couple glitches, maybe...

actually, the only way to get past this is by doing sidequests to find out who the target is OR killing all 3, it's impossible to 'luck out'.
that's not the only part that acts in this way, the rooms in which the pendletons are in the golden cat brothle is random as well, so you have to find out where the are as well, however this one is significantly easier and hardly costs extra time, it just sucks if they happen to spawn in the steam room which is a pretty big detour.
Does the possibility exist that the three sisters pass eachother by in the same area so that a simple grenade solves all your problems?
The location of the ladies seems random, but I'm not 100% sure about this, I've personally never seen more than 2 in one room, though. I'll observe later.

I have a question though, I've been trying to route for a good run, but I seem to be missing 1 rune to get blink 2 early, and can't figure out an easy way to get a 3rd rune, there is 1 for free in your dream, and then there is 1 in the room where you do your first assassination which both are super easy to get, but I can't seem to find a viable third one until the kidnapping of sarkolov (or whatever his name is) mission. Getting blink 2 earlier would really speed things up.
I found this key hidden in the pub area. Haven't managed to find a way to get it. Might just be a bug, might be a sequence breaker?

what mission is this on and where exactly?
I doubt you can really sequencebreak in this game though, as the objective system should be pretty solid, you can't do the next objectives until the previous are done.

After the Campbell mission you can buy a rune from Piero. There's also another one in the Campbell mission, don't remember where specifically but it's next to a note explaining that the rune was confiscated from someone. I'd imagine both of those being fairly quick, though not almost-no-time-lost quick like the other two you mentioned.

edit: also that video isn't on a mission, it's outside the Hounds Pit Pub
just found where to get the third rune: you can get one on the way to the golden cat brothle in mission 3, it's a ~10 second detour only.
I just recorded myself running the first 2 missions with my current strats (with a couple of mistakes) just to demonstrate what a run would look like, am currently encoding and will upload them in a couple of hours.
You can make the boyle's lady regroup in a room if you begin you shoot people downstair.

here's mission 1 and 2 with my current routes, just to demonstrate what a run would look like.
According to one of the loading screen hints you run faster with your weapons sheathed, so it's prolly better to put them away whenever you aren't using them. Also, is Campbell's door locked or something? There must be a faster way to do that part. :s
Perhaps firing shots or using grenades would lure them out faster? Can't test it myself now.
those aren't at all optimal runs, they're just to demonstrate what a run would look like in general, i've already found a couple of small route improvements and have to take elixirs etc in account for a full game run, as those seem to reset when you launch missions instead of going for a new game.

The door you're talking about can't be opened with a key: when it opens from the other side, and there is no entry to that room, so unless we find a way to clip it seems like waiting is the only option.
As for the walking with weapons unsheathed: I haven't tested it yet, but I can hardly notice the difference, but I still try to unsheathe them whenever I think about it in between blinks.

hrrm, I'm gonna have to mess around with that part. I may be remembering wrong, but IIRC at one point I was in that room collecting stuff while the scene was playing, then the second the bell rang the door opened early and I got caught. Had to reload my save since I was trying to do a stealth playthrough.

In any case since I just finished my second playthrough I'll go through again and see if I can come up with anything useful for the run. One thing to note is if we're just thinking pure speed, not about different categories for high chaos/low chaos/stealth/etc, then the fastest one is probably low chaos. On high chaos in the seventh mission a door in the sewers is locked, so you have to take a major detour to get the sewer key from Granny Rags. On low chaos the sequence just simply doesn't happen and the door is already unlocked.

On a side note, I've had a lot of WTF things happen on me in this game, heh. In the same mission/playthrough I was trying to take Curnow to the dumpster, and there was one particular guard I couldn't get past because when I choked him, I immediately got caught by guards in a different room who had absolutely no line of sight to me. Reloaded the save several times and choked him in different spots and kept getting the same thing. Also, a guard caught me while time was stopped at one point.
Paraxade: the way I run through the game in the videos I posted end in low chaos ending, high chaos seems like a super silly catagory as it'd just be the same run with more killing for no reason.
yep. Also that rune I was talking about is to the left in your video at 1:30, it might be faster than the Golden Cat one.
