To the speedrunning community:
I'd like to start out by saying I hope everyone had a wonderful new-year and I'm looking forward to another great year of SDA, GDQ, and speedrunning in general! AGDQ is still ongoing at the time of this post and I would like to personally thank everyone who is working to make such an amazing event happen year after year!

Here's to 2015!

Some back story and info:

Alright so Dinotopia... What so say - It's a Gamecube and Xbox title released in 2003, designed by Vicious Cycle and published by TDK Mediactive. You play a hammer (Mallet) wielding hero named Drake Gemini, a member of a family of protectors of Dinotopia. Your goal is to rescue the land of Dinotopia from the invading Outsider who seek to destroy the forests and the dinosaurs? I guess? I'm not entirely sure the story is full of plot holes and bad writing... Anyways, the games imminent failure was due to most critics stating the game was a short-lived, lackluster title that deserved nothing more than a second glance.

From a distance tough, the idea of a video game based on the popular fictional utopia created by author and illustrator James Gurney seemed like a pretty good idea. To be honest they did do decent job given the content... but there isn't really a whole lot of depth you can put into a story about talking dinosaurs who live in human cities..

So the game plays out like an Action-RPG with very loose RPG elements and very loose action elements. It's a relaxing and enjoyable ride for the most part. The movement is fluent, the game has tons of combat choices, you're not stuck constantly having to fight enemies and honestly it ended making a pretty enjoyable speedrun, good controls, enjoyable music and quirky gameplay.

The game even features voice acting by Tresse Mcneille who's done tons of V.O's and for Animaniacs, The Simpsons, Futurama and tons of other stuff - I noticed her voice instantly and it's a pleasure to hear her speak if you take the time to watch the cutscenes. Also, she IS featured in the credits. (Even if her IMDB page doesn't show it... I wonder why kappa)

The run:

Now I've only done my runs on GC - But an average speedrun of this game takes about 1h30. The game is still very underground and barely has 3 videos on youtube.

There is currently 1 minor skip and a couple of minor and major strategies to help improve times. Most time saving is done through movement, which mostly consists of jumping, making precise jumps can save loads of time throughout the run. No glitches have been found so far but by the looks of things, I wouldn't count on that for too long - If anyone likes finding glitches, this maybe a fun game to give a go at, I welcome you to try!

If anyone is interested in helping to speedrun this game please feel free to post any knowledge you have or any In-game and RTA times you've gotten, I would love to compare.

Go a few runs in, last time was:
55

*Update*
Got 1:35:18.71 (RTA) for 2h21m (IGT)

I really enjoy the run and the game, so much so I'm going to keep running the game in the hopes that someone will join, that is why I am posting the request here on SDA. If anybody would like to help bring this game out of the shadow and start running the game, or even if you would like to contribute to the run in any way feel free to help out! (I play on gamecube but feel free to play or run it on an emulator [GCN/XB] if need be.)

Something to note:

There is almost no info anywhere on this game, the manual is vague and there are no F.A.Q or Guides written for this game to my knowledge. For that reason I will try to upload a video of a run as soon as possible to help others find their way through the game or start practicing to do runs. So if you would like to see some gameplay footage, here's a random video!
