Just a boy and his digimon
Gah, I feel like every time I post here, it is just to remind you guys that I am still alive. I went and disappeared for 3 months, thanks to finals, a new internship, and 100%'ing Dark Souls and Skyward Sword. It doesn't help that I have violin lessons every day now.
Sorry it took so long for me to check back, Roie, but if you are still hanging around here, then know that I am still planning on doing this, though I welcome any competition. Please don't be discouraged if you really want to do this. To be honest, I think just about anybody could finish this run faster than I can and I'd be happy if another runner used the information I have found in order to do their own run. That's half the reason I post it all up here. If someone wants to beat my run when I do it or try to beat it before I can, then I'd be glad to have contributed. My ultimate goal was just to make sure that a speedrun of this game existed.

Aside from that, I have almost no news to report. Last time I tried garurumon, he got his butt kicked pretty easily and his base stats were pretty low, which had me considering whether there was a way to get Monzaemon without doing Monochromon's shop. I'm gonna try Garurumon again and put a lot of points into MP so he can spam Ice Statue over and over and I'll see if he can hold his own in battle. Otherwise, I think the run might go smoother with Monzae if I can cut off a lot of the unnecessary time I had previously spent. I'll sit down over the next few days and mess with it, then I'll let you know what's up.
thanks for the update man, and gl
It's a BIG HEAD!
Eh, I'm still not confident just anyone can do it. Tongue The game is simply confuse for me now.

Anyways, mostly here to point out I'm still here. Again.
What I originally planned on doing was just playing the game a lot and finding the best possible route and doing it... but I didn't realize how simple I made that out to be until I saw just the sheer amount of information on even just the first page of this thread. I haven't speedrunned a game before so... as I said before, I was overwhelmed and intimidated.
Weegee Time
It's important to pick a game that you really like, but it's also important to pick a game you won't burn yourself out on.  The big problem with picking an RPG first, especially a "Pokemon" style game, is the intense number of variables to consider and their ability for some of them to affect the entire game.  On the other hand, if it's been thoroughly researched first, it can help you get a good grasp on the whole process and what you need to do to put together a successful one.  If not Digimon World, I encourage you to give something a shot to get your feet wet.  And if you have anything to contribute, please do so. Smiley
Hey, it's been a while since I posted here. Recently I've been playing a lot, testing stuff and actually trying to get a single segment run of the game. I think it's possible but I'll probably need insane amounts of luck since any mistake can waste minutes if it doesnt mean the run is over, so probably I'll end up doing a segmented run. Anyway I have to get a working recording setup if I want to get a run done.

I'm summarizing here everything useful I know in case Jukebox_Hero (or anyone) is still interested in running the game :p

So basically, you need to recruit enough digimon to get 50 prosperity points (PP), so you can go to Mt. Infinity and beat the game. A lot of them need to get some others first. Here's the entire list, with the amount of PP they give when recruited:

Code:
Agumon 1
Airdramon	2
Andromon	3
Angemon 2
Bakemon 2
Betamon 1
Birdramon	2
Biyomon 1
Centarumon	2
Coelamon	2
Devimon 2
Digitamamon	3
Drimogemon	2
Elecmon 1
Etemon 3
Frigimon	2
Gabumon 1
Garurumon	2
Gekomon 2
Giromon 3
Greymon 2
Kabuterimon	2
Kokatorimon	2
Kunemon 1
Kuwagamon	2
Leomon 2
Mamemon 3
Megadramon	3
Meramon 2
Metal Greymon	3
Metal Mamemon	3
Mojyamon	2
Monochromon	2
Monzaemon	3
Nanimon 1
Ninjamon	2
Numemon 1
Ogremon 2
Patamon 1
Penguinmon	1
Piximon 3
Shellmon	2
Skull Greymon	3
Sukamon 1
Tyrannomon	2
Unimon 2
Vademon 3
Vegimon 2
Whamon 2

Of those, the ones that should be recruited always are:

Agumon, Bakemon, Betamon, Birdramon, Biyomon, Centarumon, Coelamon, Drimogemon, Elecmon, Greymon, Kunemon, Leomon, Meramon, Ninjamon, Ogremon, Palmon, Patamon, Shellmon, Sukamon, Unimon, Whamon

Those sum up to 33 PP. The rest depends on the route, and what digimon you have.

Factorial Town route (7 PP)
Andromon, Giromon, Numemon
Needs good time planning to skip Guardromon, and takes 2 days. However the Giromon fight is rather easy.

Freeze Land route (7 PP)
Angemon, Frigimon, Penguinmon, Kokatorimon
Angemon needs insane juking, a hard fight, and can only be done with a vaccune digimon, so I don't really think it worth it. Frigimon needs you digimon to get sick so if your digimon doesn't get sick on his own (i.e. Greymon),  you can try getting a Moldy Meat from Amida Forest, or not letting him sleep. Penguimon takes 2-3 minutes, but needs luck. Kokatorimon is a hard fight.

Seadramon route (5 PP)
Kabuterimon, Kuwagamon, Palmon.
Seadramon takes a few minutes to catch. Kabuterimon needs Greymon recruited first.

Toy town route (6 PP)
Gekomon, Monzaemon, Gabumon.
Monzaemon takes a while, but it's mandatory with a Numemon.

Not worth recruiting
Those are either too hard or much time consuming to recruit.
Garurumon (stats 2nd fight is pretty much impossible without items)
Mamemon (his boosting ability is simply one of the most overpowered techniques in the game, takes forever to beat)
Vademon (needs SkullGreymon)
Nanimon, Metalmamemon, Mojyamon, SkullGreymon, Tyrannomon

On what digimon to get, atm my best choice is a MegaSeadramon. You need at least 3000 hp & 400 stats if you don't want fights to take forever towards the end. Another option is Monzaemon, who needs less training time. I'm sure there are plenty of choices here, but I haven't tried anything else yet. With segmentation a champion could be enough, probably.

Money is a problem. I think the Mojyamon trick is mandatory, you need tons of recoveries and MP disks for the fights. 10 exchanges (20k bits) should be enough. Getting Palmon early is also an option (Giant Meat sells for 250 bit each)

Random stuff that could be useful:
- Drimogemon takes 5 days to finish the path to Meramon (so the soonest is day 6). However you can take the dirt out and will finish after ~10 rounds. Every round takes ~1 minute.
- You can go to Freeze Land and do the money trick can be done before any fight (except Agumon), so it could be possible to do in day 2 or 3, but you need Monochromon to buy Medium Recoveries, and it probably would take too much time. However, it could make early fights faster, if you buy tons of combat disks. I need to test this.
- You need to visit Centaurumon in his clinic for Unimon to appear.
- Once you walk over the invisible bridge (without entering the Great Canyon), you can talk to Yuramon to trigger Ogremon.
- You can fight Kokatorimon without visiting ShogunGekomon, he can be reached from Freeze Land.
- You need to check Shellmon's news for Seadramon to appear.
- You don't need to talk to Leomon before getting his tablet.

And finally, my current route. I've included an optimistic estimated time for each day. I'm trying to get a Single-segment run with this.

DAY 1 (15 minutes)
- Get items and meat, train 5-6 times
- Get Agumon
- Fight Drimogemon, talk to the right one
- Get Kunemon
- Talk to Coelamon
- Get Centarumon (get autopilot and moldy meat)
- Get Betamon
- Get Coelamon

DAY 2 (10 minutes)
- Sell and buy stuff (meat, recoveries, pm disks, autopilots)
- Talk to Yuramon to trigger bridge
- Train and rest

DAY 3 (10 minutes)
- Train
- Get Bakemon
- Get Monochromon
- Use Autopilot

DAY 4 & 5: (10 minutes)
- Train and rest
- Talk to Yuramon to trigger Ogremon
- Digimon should digivolve in day 4

DAY 6: (20 minutes)
- Get Meramon
- Talk to bottom Drimogemon, get chips
- Get Unimon, Elecmon, Patamon, Biyomon, Sukamon
- Get the fishing rod
- Autopilot back

DAY 7: (40 minutes)
- Fight Ogremon
- Go to Freeze Land, do the Money Trick.
- Get Penguinmon, Frigimon.
- Autopilot back, buy stuff.
- Beat Ogremon Fortress
- Get Shellmon, Birdramon
- Get Greymon

DAY 8-12: (20 minutes)
- Get Palmon
- Catch Seadramon
- Get Kuwagamon, Kabuterimon
- Train, digivolve to Mega.

DAY 13: (20 minutes)
- Get Whamon
- Go to Factorial Town
- Fight Giromon
- Get Numemon

DAY 14+: (30 minutes)
- Get Andromon, Giromon
- Get Ninjamon
- Get Ogremon, Drimogemon, Leomon
- Autopilot back
- Talk to Jijimon, use autopilot to skip Airdramon
- Enter Mt Infinity
- Get Devimon, Megadramon, MetalGreymon
- Fight Machinedramon

My overall estimate is 2:55. After I test it I may get it down a few minutes, but I don't think sub 2:30 is possible with this route. I also need to get the exact number of items I should buy.
That's all for now. I'll try to keep this updated, but no promises :p Cya! Smiley
Lord Of The Beards
If anyone is still around i'm kind of wondering what digimon would be best for a run.  Would it be Gabumon to Garurumon then to MegaSeadramon?  I'm really curious about this and kind of want to start working on the game once I have a solid game plan.
an interesting route, if your still testing when i get back to uni in september i'll be more than glad to help test live on twitch
Anyone still working on that game?

He hasn't done anything recently, but he was working on segments for DW. He has a route plotted out and everything. He frequents my stream often, so I'll ask him if he's still working on it, and if he'll give an update in here.
is the route posted a few posts above the current fastest route?
I'm doing a speedrun of digimon. Although not uploaded all parties, but I have several videos uploaded, try to upload a video or two videos per week, if that will end soon.

6:50:00. I think that's a long time, I think I can spend with all digimon in significantly less time ... but we'll see if we can or not will upload videos and finish the game to see if you really need that long to beat the game
it was my best time just finishd it only 1 time with some mistakes got a perfect route now and i think i can get it in about 5:50 or something but faster i dont think it gos much faster we will see
im set the WR try to beat it 6:02:57,53
Ok, give me a week's time to establish the best route and another week to pasarmelo, in a segment. Have if I can get it.
Wish me luck.
Soon I'll upload the first attempt
I would like to know what you put on the right of your video, time follower when you get together with the digimon, you could give me the link, or get help please?. It is very useful.

Yes, I saw it. More Mamemon luck next time.
Pueds dodne me get the stopwatch with the tiemop it takes to get each digimon (left box appears where time would be helpful)

I have the route, tomorrow is the first time I try, I think it is much more effective than yours, tomorrow night we will check, but I think in 4h. I can finish the game, if I get it I'll put the link here tomorrow.
