I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Alright. After talking about it with a few friends for a while, I've finally decided to sit down and just take this project on. Anyone with knowledge of this game at all, any help/corrections would be greatly appreciated.

My initial thought is that completing this game may not be feasible, but certainly getting to the first major boss (A) at Infinity Tower is do-able in a reasonable time. After that, it may get a little iffy. For those reasons, this will obviously be segmented, probably one segment for each city/arena. I'm hoping that playing this on the PS2 (it's a PSX game) won't be a problem. Especially since I've recorded my opening segment already, with only a couple minor miscues on the menu options, which cost all of about... 1-2 seconds. I'm exporting that and uploading to youtube atm, so I'll edit this with that link. From system boot to the first save, it's 00:12:11. I think half of that is all the dialogue and new player signup crap.

Meh. Need some admin opinion on this I guess. I just did the math and we're looking at roughly 3 hrs to get to A. After that the storyline does continue and there's so much backtracking and revisiting arenas... Now that I've come back to reality I don't think this game can be completed in a reasonable time. Would a run to "A" be accepted? My first guess is "no, try another game" :\

Events in the overall storyline, in order:

Beginner City
Flame City
Jungle City
Igloo City (twice)
Junk City
Dark City
Pyramid City
Sky City
Steep Road (twice)
Wiseman Tower
Infinity Tower
Boss (A)

3 hrs 10 minutes (target)

Desert Island (new deck needs to eliminate option cards)
Return to Beginner City, told to visit Dark City's Haunted Arena.
Dark City (Haunted Arena)
Beginner City (Arena)

Under 1 hour (we'll say about 50 minutes)

EXTRA ARENAS:
Flame City
Jungle City
Igloo City
Pyramid City
Sky City
Back to Beginner City to battle WarGreymon.

1 hour 10 minutes roughly

Jungle City's Beet Arena
Junk City's 2nd Arena (Thundermon)

30 minutes would be a pretty damn good time...

Tai (Beginner City)
Garudamon & Sora (Flame City)
Lillymon & Mimi (Jungle City)
MetalGarurumon & Matt (Igloo City)
Zudomon & Joe (Junk City)
MegaKabuterimon & Izzy (Dark City)
Infinity Tower (Piedmon's Arena)

1 hr 15 minutes the target

EXTRA ARENAS (again -_-)
Flame City
Jungle City
Igloo City
Junk City
Pyramid City
Sky City
Steep Road (just for GranKuwagamon & Ken)
Infinity Tower again

1 hr 45 minutes target

EXTRA ARENAS (yes, seriously -_-)
Flame City
Jungle City
Igloo City
Pyramid City
Sky City
Wiseman's Tower (Omnimon's arena)

1 hr 30 minute target

aaaaaaaaand... EXTRA ARENA ONE MORE TIME >=/
Flame City
Jungle City
Igloo City.

40 minute target.

and then BlackWarGreymon supposedly after 100 more battles after all that crap.

If we ignore BKWG... By my quick math I think it's a shade under 10 hours. And a lot of segments. And I'm really thinking... This won't fly lol

Re-did my math... if I get sweeps maybe I can cut a minute or 2 (depending on the battles) off my time, especially with the dialogue being shorter in some places than at the start. I'll see it through anyways, and see how things look after Junk City.
Waiting hurts my soul...
You may be over-estimating your time, just do a test run where you take the first okay segment. That should give you an idea for basic strategy and a base time for you to beat. From there you can spend a good amount of time manipulating luck to drive the time as low as possible. Also, make sure you're trying out side items (cards) because some may be out of the way, but getting them would allow you to manipulate drawing them. With luck manipulation on your side, you should lean more towards combo style decks (decks that can win faster if they draw the right cards). Although, I'm not familiar with how this card game works, so that might not be an option.

Good luck.

Thanks. Yeah, there are some cards that are out of the way but would make battles go really quick. Generally, a 3-0 win takes... 3-4 minutes. The Hawkmon starter deck has some good options but I might also take the Veemon deck. That's a pure offensive deck and when you want speed... yeah. =/

You're right though. It'll be luck manipulation. I'll keep on with it and see where it leads.
This is a really old post but I figured since there have been a few single segment runs of this game I would post some info about it. I have done only 3 (Beat A) runs so far but I currently have the WR. The WR is currently 3:44:33 using the veemon deck. By your assumptions it seems that the best possible time would be around 3:10 and that seems pretty reasonable. Here are a list of time losses I had in my WR run.

Lost in a Garurumon Re-Match: ~ 3 minutes
Lost/Wasted Time in the Final A battle ~ 6-7 minutes
Saved multiple times as a safety measure ~ 6-7 minutes
Couple battles weren't very fast ~10-15 minutes
Menuing/Deck Building/Cutscene button mashing ~ 1-2 minutes

If these time losses are correct and your estimate of a perfect run being 3:10:00 is correct than a perfect run by human standards is probably somewhere around 3:32:00. What I am saying is that assuming someone has mastered winning every battle regardless of luck and has perfect menuing and doesn't save. They should get around 3:32 assuming they don't have great luck. The last 20-22 minutes between optimal time and optimal human time is good RNG during the run. I believe that with enough planning and strat adaptation ability a person can get 3:30 - 3:40 every run regardless of what kind of RNG they have.
