diablo record  0:06:07 is just all cheat - duping items is cheating - thats all.
I recomend to bring back previous record on board - that without cheating...

I am talking about making Fireball spell to level 15 (max) duping books of this spell
FB is most powerfull spell in game and making it to lv 15 is not so easy without cheating (or duping)

I would not say a word about getting all of those stairs around one by one - that is serious glitch amuse, but all records here (at least last 3) was using that.

Real record of getting through diablo would be play on multiplayer (no chance to saving and waiting to best position of levels, all dungeons would be generated randomly without any influence from player) also on multi all monsters are stronger.

So real heroes should go for it!
Thread title:
lol, something is cheat because you cant match his time?
read again what is cheat
and learn to read with understanding
A brave heart can defy any odds!
I don't think our reject from a dubbed 70s chinese flick here understands the concept of a speed run.

Your saying it is cheated, does not make it cheated.

I wouldn't say the run is cheated, just glitched. There are many tricks in many games, which community considers as a cheats, but I think that if you can do it IN the game (no trainers, hacks etc.) and without using the keycodes, it will never be cheat.

On the other hand, SDA seems to have some "recognition" problems lately, since item duping should automatically go under glitch category, imho. So as FEAR or HL2DQ.
I really like the Diablo run because of its perfectness and because I like the game very much :-)

But I have to agree that it doesn't make sense to allow the item duping glitch because the rules say that you may not use glitches that don't make sense from the character's perspective (like oob in Zelda e.g.). I mean come on... if you'd be able to put your keyboard on the floor, and have your mouse in your pocket and if you take out your mouse just when picking up your keyboard it would be quite surprising if you had two keyboards afterwards :-)

In fact I really don't care since I think that the oob-rule has to be modified and so it's ok for me that the run uses duped items because it's the fastest method to complete diablo :-)
Verified verifier and hangaround :)
The way I see it:

As long as you dont modify the game, you can abuse every bug you want.

It doesn't make sense to pass through Windows / doors in Deus Ex either, or to go "outside" of the map in FEAR, nevertheless, thats bugs in the game being abused, not the gamecode being altered.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
i'd say if glitch is too abusing, and run without it would be more interesting (or at least as much interesting) - make it separate categories...

Seconded, AHOY! I wish I knew anything about the game so that I could do a real pro-speedrun: sorcerer, no spells, only mana potions allowed, kill only fire based mobs, skip level 10-12, stats can't get above 30 because you get overpowered and it's cheating, also a really skilled player would do it in a single segment with map and shop luck manipulation, also bunny hopping would speed up the whole run greatly. Of course, not completing all side quests = hax, because the game isn't really completed then. Also skipping any monster means cheating because in real life they would still catch you.

Dedicated to all zleda guys.

I started laughing at this point, and didn't stop for a while.

Thanks, you put it quite eloquently. Smiley
Waiting hurts my soul...
Blinded-folded too 'eh?

I think a lot of people that come here for 'speedruns' such as the OP are really looking for superplays or 100% completion runs?

Not sure about all the reasons for the oob rule or why item duping is allowed.  On topic, I really don't know how the level manipulation really works either, but taking out Diablo in 6 minutes even with all those glitches is impressive.

Having different categories for every different glitch would increase the number of videos by a whole bunch, and is not worth the extra effort IMO.  I think that's why some glitches are allowed in the base run, some are different categories, and some aren't allowed at all.  Things should be kept as consistent as possible though, and I think the harder to find/produce glitches get the strongest outcry.

Well holy fuck.
I seriously think Blizzard left that glitch in for the use of it. I mean, Diablo 1 is at what patch now? 1.11? or maybe even more? And it's been out for over 10 years, and yet, the dupe bug/glitch is still there.

That's not really the issue.

The item duplication glitch is not illegal for SDA, so it is not cheating. Case closed.
